My father passed away in October 2nd , 2020. He had a heart condition and didn't survive the surgery. But where does Initial D come in? Well back when I began watching Initial D back in 2008, it wasn't until years later when I showed my father the series dubbed in Spanish. First Stage and Second Stage. He was a mechanic in his younger days and still repaired his car when he was alive. He truly enjoyed the series, the themes, the races. In the episode when Takumi blows the engine, and they showed the new one, he was already explaining to me that it was more powerful due to the the way it was built and more mechanic jargon that I had no idea, but listened nonetheless because that was his expertise. then we continued with 3rd stage and to the end, Final Stage. He was always on point with his knowledge of cars. Like when Takumi was racing God hand and my father began to tell me " if he keeps doing that, he is gonna break the suspension" and then boom. It broke. I was impressed honestly. Those are fond memories and I cherish them because we were able to watch all episodes from beginning to end. His top 5 races, he enjoyed the most were AE86 vs Ae86 Turbo ( Second Stage ) FC3S vs EVO 3 AE86 vs EK9 Tomouki Pro driver FD3S vs God Foot AE86 vs SW20 He would always say " Put an episode of 'Trueno' " That's what the series was called to him |
