user posted image

Name: Asatte No Houkou / あさっての方向
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.tbs.co.jp/asatteno/
Synopsis: Anime adaptation of J-ta Yamada’s niche manga. Karada, a small girl, exchanges bodies with Shoko, a scientist, thanks to the power of some mysterious gems. Don’t know too much about this title, plus the production looks sub par compared to the manga; still worth a quick look though.

Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.broccoli.co.jp/sp_anime/index_anime.html
Synopsis: Spinoff of the original Galaxy Angel anime. This time around the story shifts towards Kazuya rather than the girls. I’m not all too familiar with the plot, but if you’re a fan of the series, it’s worth noting Broccoli is still on board.

user posted image

Name: Kujibiki Unbalance / くじびき♥アンバランス
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.kujian.info/
Synopsis: Much to the dismay of followers of The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture, the promise of a second season was met with a disappointing announcement. Namely that Genshiken was to take an indefinite backseat, to allow a full fledged Kujian animation steamroll its way across the airwaves. We can only cross our fingers and hope for the best.

user posted image

Name: Tokimeki Memorial Only Love / ときめきメモリアル Only Love
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.konami.jp/visual/tokimemo-anime/
Synopsis: A new twist on the classic dating sim. A bit overdone in my opinion, but it might be a good business move on behalf of Konami if they air it around Christmas. I think I’ll skip out on both the TV and DVD release.

user posted image

Name: Pumpkin Scissors / パンプキン・シザーズ
Date: Fall 2006

Name: Super Robot Taisen ORIGINAL GENERATION / スーパーロボット大戦 ORIGINAL GENERATION
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.suparobo.jp/

user posted image

Name: Busou Renkin / 武装錬金
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.busourenkin.com/
Synopsis: Three words: author of Kenshin. That alone should be enough to make you want to take a peek. Granted the manga is a somewhat on the cliché side, a mix between Air Gear and Bleach. Expect the typical shounen fare with that bit of righteous Watsuki logic.

user posted image

Name: Shijou Saikyou No Deshi Kenichi / 史上最強の弟子ケンイチ
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://websunday.net/rensai/kenichi.html
Synopsis: Anime adaptation of the manga. Kenichi gets harassed by school bullies, joins dojo, falls in love with the female lead, becomes the strongest fighter. Where have I seen this before… To be fair, I only read the first volume, and if the animation is done right this could prove to be a good light hearted comedy.

Name: Soukou No Strain / 奏光のストレイン
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.s-strain.jp/
Synopsis: A show from Kimi Ga Nozomu’s Studio Fantasia. Two siblings see each other after a long separation, but both are members of conflicting nations. Brother and sister try to put aside their love in outer space, as both fight for their friends. The character designs look rather promising.

Name: Jigoku Shoujo 2 / 地獄少女 2
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://www.jigokushoujo.com/
Synopsis: Second season of the creepy anime that aired last year. Hopefully they’ll take their time plotting out each episode. The soundtrack plays a big key in Jigoku Shoujo, it would be a shame if they rush development and half-ass the subtle details, those that make this show uniquely atmospheric.

user posted image

Name: RED GARDEN
Date: Fall 2006
URL: http://redgarden.jp/
Synopsis: Somewhere in New York, four college women get involved in a murder mystery. Not much else is known about the anime except that Gonzo laid some serious cash behind its production.

Date: 2006
URL: http://www.tv-sumomo.com/
Synopsis: Square-Enix manga adaptation about three hot-blooded schoolgirls. The artwork in the comic looks very distinctive, sort of reminds me of Eiichiro Oda’s earlier work. Wouldn’t hurt to have someone like Studio DEEN or J.C. Staff handle it.

Name: Maria-sama Ga Miteru 3rd / マリア様がみてる 3rd

Name: Strike Witches

That's it for now, I omitted the theatrical releases since they won't be coming around DVD until winter 06/07.

The ones I'm looking forward to:
Kanon
Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Iroha Ni Hoheto
DEATH NOTE
Kujibiki Unbalance (;_; I don't see why they're doing this...Genshiken is supposed to satirize this kind of generic anime)
Tokimeki Memorial Only Love ( I like the character designs >_>)
Negima! (If it's a remake)
Busou Renkin (Watsuki biggrin.gif)
RED GARDEN ( o_O )
AFRO SAMURAI (Motherf**king snakes on a motherf**king plane!)
Sumomomomomo (Square fanboyism sleep.gif)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dammit, the internet is going to DIE from this season's downloads to my computer. >.>;

Comments:

-ANOTHER Negima!? Now, I haven't seen the first... but... wow. Just wow. Where's AI Love You, Akamatsu-sensei!?!?

-Gift Gift reminds me of Shuffle and Da Capo in one. That's win. I'll have to check it out.

-KANON ZOMG

-Death Note being done partially by KyoAni makes sense--Death Note characters appeared in the last episode of FMP:TSR.

-Galaxy Angel II... yet another series to add to my growing GA collection...

-SRWOG: About time. I saw the OVA and... um... yeah. Hopefully the TV series will be tons better--and maybe feature that one mecha I can't find anywhere; FALKEN~!

-Strike Witches: Finally! An explanation for all those pics on my PC of girls with wingless WWII aircraft!

Very cool--thanks for the update.

Kanon seems interesting since KyoAni is doing the production. Galaxy Angel II (Watched the last 2 seasons but need to watch GA Season X) seems interesting too because it might contain the game storylines from the PS2 game. Anything else is just meh. whistling.gif

Well based on the trailer I am guessing Afro Samurai is going to air on Spike...

A little note on the Sumomomomo series, at least from the bit of manga I read it seems kinda like Ranma 1/2 x Normal Love Comedy - the action... tongue.gif

The character designs from the first season look nothing like Akamatsu's art (which is what I like most about this series). I didn't bother watching the first one.

Are you sure it's a remake and not a continuation?
