Hi guys, some of you may have seen that I'm running a ID blog here in the UK and also have a couple of ID arcade cabinets.

However apart from collectors cabinets the only ID cabinet we have currently in the UK in an Arcade is an Initial D 8 sad.gif

So was thinking what other ID cabinets are around the globe?? I'm posting the same thread on a few arcade forums also, as I want to create a Google Map of where ID cabinets are located in the wild.

I appreciate that some maybe personal collectors so we will exclude these from the google map, however if you want to send a couple of photos we will add a owners gallery at some point.

So if you know of any Initial D cabinets in the wild, could you get a photo of the cabinet in situ and post below with its address and I can start compiling a list.

Any help on this is appreciated, as this will serve another project I’m working on with a few arcade owners smile.gif

I swear we used to have a list in one of the topics that covered this, maybe not for D8 but we piled up all the locations that users contributed including some information like price per play, etc.

Anybody know where that thread is?

EDIT:

Found it. Some of the info is outdated but it's still useful to have I would argue.

I can't believe it's 2017, time does fly.......I remembered posting in that thread and it was five years ago. Hell I remembered the time when I was a newbie on this forum and was asking weird questions about the game.

Also, this will also be very very useful but I think there's a good chance it's going to be taken down soon by Sega so I suggest copy and pasting the info ASAP. Sega coincidently happens to be shutting down some of their remaining D8 services today so I suspect this page or its info might be deleted.

Thanks for reply.

Yeah its shut down today sad.gif so wont be around for long... Even though there listed on there would rather people confirm that its there and a picture would be cool.

Trust me if it's listed on that Sega page list, it's there. That lists self updates itself based on online connection of the machines, as opposed to just a static info page. As we speak at this moment, all those machines are there.

Sega also takes their online services of machines very very seriously. It's not just a matter of inserting the address on the internet and be done, in a lot of cases they have their technicians to go on site and test whether the connection and latency are suitable enough for Initial D's close to real time races. If your connection is not good enough, you won't be accepted. We've also seen machines over here move and get their addresses updated accordingly over the 2 1/2 years D8 has been active.

There used to be a lot more entries there that disappeared after their owners disconnected from the service (it's not free, there's a flat fee plus royalty). We do not know the current status and location of those machines that were removed from the list, but the ones that are on the list can be considered as confirmations, at least as of today. You won't get a better snapshot of the current confirmed D8 machines in non-Japan Asia than that and of course Sega is as close of a trustworthy source as we can get.

For example, Indonesia used to have a few entries some time ago but as of right now it's empty because all of them have discontinued their online subscription service. This is why Indonesia has a category on the page but no actual entries. There are still D8 machines in Indonesia of course, just that they're all offline.

In fact, some of us used some of the more detailed features of the list to check whether our regular arcades connections are working, since we won't have to go to the trouble of visiting the location and not getting to use the online functions if the connections are having problems. We can tell when a problem has been fixed.

If you click on each location in fact, you can see information updates about which player did what on the machines as well as the date and time of the action. Things like completing a mission, or winning an online battle or getting on the Time attack lists. It's a great way to jumpstart your list while other things like pictures are added later on to solidify some of the entrees further. It allows you to have a good start on your Google Maps project while having an info source that isn't just hearsay and rumors.
