Now that there's this.
I wanna know.
What made the remodeled RE Amemiya bodykit FD turn easily at the 5th gear?

The RE Amemiya Ad GT kit he has on offer the world's very best down force and control of virtually any kit for any car available. It's been proven through domestic Japanese GT class racing and the world time attack stage.

All fd3s rrx7's 5th gear is a functional gear not an overdrive. This means it has every bit the same usability as 2nd or 3rd for instance.

If he had a type rs or type rz he would also have the 4.3 final drive rear different and the close ratio ( rapid acceleration ) transmission giving an even larger upper hand on the uphill.

Hope this helps

also do the actors also voice over on other series. I am pretty sure I have heard Takahasi Ryoske's voice in one of my mecha anime.

Ryosuke's VA is ugly, Mako and Sayuki are voiced by men, Itsuki's is a bodybuilder. They have never done VA work for anything else, Initial D is the only thing they ever did after working years to get into the industry. After they finished it, they left forever.

Video killed the radio star. VAs don't have to look anything like their characters, they just have to sound right. About the only time it matters is idol-related stuff and even then the requirements are kinda loose.

Would you have preferred like how they do it down here in the PH? Where anime characters are voiced by celebrities?

I love how this post sailed almost entirely under the radar.

MAKO AND SAYUKI VOICED BY MEN. THEY ALL LEFT FOREVER. NONE OF THEM ARE ESTABLISHED. INITIAL D WAS THEIR ONE AND DONE FAILURE.

well not exactly, but their voices are so good. Mako's voice gives me a hard on and she turns out to be a hag ;( good looking actors suck at voice acting.

Relatively new to the forum, but I was just wondering why no one every gets hurt in the anime?

I mean, it just seems like racing is sort of dangerous- yet no one really gets hurt.

I mean, sure, Iketani crashes his car in the first stage, and Shingo screws up his arm after crashing in the gum-tape death match, but it seems like nobody is really injured. In Episode 2 of the fourth stage, a guy literally flips his car and comes out perfectly fine.

What I'm getting at here is I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort fics, and I sort of want to see a little more injury/illness in the anime, just because I feel like Takumi would've crashed at least once, realistically, and been hurt.

Any insight?

Well in all the scenes that show the characters in the car, everyone has their seatbelt on. And On the mountain passes, I noticed that there is no oncoming traffic or road blocks on the track so coupled with all the characters' skills, I think their chances of crashing are limited. But when they do crash, like in the scenes that you mentioned, the characters do get hurt.

As for the rest of the series and the characters, I honestly believe that they are just very careful about how they drive. On and off the track.

Or maybe injuries were just not a thing that needed to be written into the series.

(sorry for the bad English, I’m not a native speaker)
Well, I guess it’s just for the simplicity for the show? Just like we also never see any police interfering the races, which I would like to see! It would be interesting to see how the Takahashi brothers run away from cops XD. Their parents would probably kill them if they got caught.

As for fanfic, I remember one from fanfiction.net, “Myogi's Black Lightning”. Nakazato crashed quite badly in his S13 and that crash left him some serious problem...Too bad that it’s an unfinished story, I’m dying to know what will happen next :|

Ah, I see. Thanks! I also wish the anime would incorporate more father/son moments- I love the whole dynamic between Takumi and Bunta, and I wish there was more screen time of those two together.

Also... that's.... actually a really go premise for a fanfic. I might actually write that, where the cops bust a race....

Better off writing it as a fanfic. Shigeno is classically terrible at writing anything like that.

I didn't say it didn't happen. I just said he's got a track record of running from character development in favor of OMG DORIFUTO.

In Initial D, maybe, and even then I don't exactly agree. Pretty much all the character development up until Project D was solid.

I have to agree with Kyon, BariBariDentetsu incorporated a lot more character development and screen time away from cars. Something that Initial D really lacked. All of the series that Shigeno work have different emphasis I like to say that it keeps it fresh.

Thought.

Battle Stage 2.

Kyoko and Keisuke's race.

He wins because he managed to bump her off balance, and make her single turbo go poot.

Isn't this basically. He wins. Because he can afford a twin turbo setup, that isn't vulnerable to this? I'm suddenly getting P2W Nakazato vibes.

No doubt it's been covered at some point but I know where Bunta forcing Takumi to drive with a cup of water comes from. Sir Jackie Stewart. I only remembered thanks to a program that aired in the UK and should still be on iPlayer.

There was a part where the chef James Martin was meeting Sir Jackie and he wanted to drive like Jackie before getting a go in his old Tyrrell F1 car (lucky *******). He did a few laps in a BMW M3 then came the bit that relates to the water in the cup. Back years ago Sir Jackie said he could teach any driver to be smooth and fast with his technique of keeping a ball in a large bowl on the bonnet of the car. Once James Martin had mastered this he was smoother, faster and his times came down. Coincidence? I think not.

I've looked all week for the clip of it but no luck so far.

Found it and remembered I posted here years ago about the water in the cup origins. It's 43mins in

Thanks for sharing this. I know this thread hasn't been touched in a year but I appreciated this info greatly. I love that ball in the dish method.
