I was just hoping someone could advise me on which is a decent, in terms of a low price and performance, for a wireless N-card?

Currently I have one of those N-band routers with the 3 antennas on the back but I get about 2 bars on my network on my N-capable wireless card on my laptop yet my desktop cannot detect it at all (no surprise since it is G). I wanted to upgrade the wireless card but was wondering what your guys' thoughts are on a PCI card or a USB adapter for a wireless N card and what companies produce the best quality?

USB adapters tend to heat up quite a bit. I personally like the D-Link express cards, though they can be pricey at times.

Otherwise it's time to look into the router settings and check if your router can transmit B/G/N signals like it is suppose to, because I'm using the DGL-4500 and it supports it for sure.
