After watching Initial D for the first time I fell in love the AE86 and the amazing story behind it. This is the thread dedicated to the car I love so much.
I have put a lot of time, effort and money into the car and here is a parts list that I have compiled of many of the things I have put into this car that make it so special.
Here are some links to past events/meets that I have gone to.

NICE dude, how did you afford so much at your age? you even have CF on your headlights
Posted by: Silent121 Oct 16 2005, 02:54 PM
Very nice, Takumi Trueno...very nice.
Posted by: Perry Oct 16 2005, 02:54 PM
That's a very nice and clean 86 you got there, Alex. I can't stop taking pictures of it. Like Alex said, wait for the pictures in the other thread, they will be posted soon.
Posted by: Indecisive Oct 16 2005, 02:56 PM
| I can't believe you did that...but to each his own. have to admit it looks very clean.
congrats on 2nd place...time for you to get off the show floor and get out on the drift track behind you though
like I said, not my cup of tea for copying initial D, and you'll get lots of flak for it, but I've gotta give credit where credit is due.
Posted by: Kakashi Oct 16 2005, 03:06 PM
Looks awesome, and congrats. What do you do for money? Job?
Posted by: TaksPandaHatch Oct 16 2005, 03:09 PM
Cleanest hatch that I have ever seen! Looks awesome. Wish I had one
Posted by: Prozac Oct 16 2005, 03:18 PM
| wow that is one mint condition Trueno you've got there Only thing I like a little less about it is the steering wheel, but hey that's just me Furthermore, awesome :9
BTW are those rims Konig Rewind? I love those, would like to know the brand and type, I believe they would look awesome on a classic MX5 which I would like to own one day
Posted by: Lakersfanman33 Oct 16 2005, 03:44 PM
Wow TT, that looks identcal. Great work. I wanna know how much that cost. But wow. Great job.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 16 2005, 04:12 PM
| Why do so many people care about how much I put into it?
Anyways, they are Konigs. Obviously not Watanabe. Maybe Ill get Watanabe later....

| Where is floatingpoint? Knowing how much he hates cars done up to look like their Initial D alter-ego's, i thought he'd be all over this thread by now with his insults, and accusing the owner of the vehicle of being a poser.
In any case Mr. Trueno, you have my applause. Well done.
By the way, is it primarily for show? Or will you and your car be performing in any "events"?
Posted by: Frost Oct 16 2005, 05:08 PM
| He's missing the MOST important part of that entire ensemble:
Posted by: Perry Oct 16 2005, 05:14 PM
And the cup of water in the cup holder.
Oh well, maybe next time. Takumi Trueno and I are going to have a photoshoot of the 86 for night settings soon. Stay tuned.
Posted by: Shonen Oct 16 2005, 05:17 PM
| That's the coolest looking car I've ever seen. The only hachi in Hilo is a red, beat-up old crapper. :\
Perry, you're a great photographer, by the way. Those photos are professional quality. *thumbs up*
Posted by: lotteman Oct 16 2005, 05:19 PM
| GAH! B E A U T I F U L!

| ...And you forgot something else....Yours isn't RHD. Takumi's 86 is RHD!!! haha, just kidding.
BTW, what kind of racing seat do you have?
Posted by: nightkid08 Oct 16 2005, 05:35 PM
| speechless....Thats one nice ae86 you got there Takumi Trueno.
Oh yeah I thought that Takumi had a 11k+ rpm meter lol any way you have my humble applause for that sweet ride.
Is that the stock motor or a swap? just asking since i barely see any ae86's here.
Posted by: Kakashi Oct 16 2005, 05:35 PM
we ask how much you put into it because you're only like what 15 or 16 years old. I'm the same age and i wanna know where you get the money.
Posted by: Silent121 Oct 16 2005, 05:37 PM
Collect cans and get cash?
Posted by: lotteman Oct 16 2005, 05:38 PM
OOO wait! i found something else wrong! the rear end is suppose to say "GT"-APEX twin cam [insert correct number]
Posted by: Kakashi Oct 16 2005, 05:41 PM
Doesn't work where i'm at, for 2 garbage bag full of cans in my city = $1 or 2 if you're lucky.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 16 2005, 05:45 PM
| I am actually 17 years old. Ill be 18 in January.
If you look at the pictures of the engine, You can tell its the 20v. It even says so.
Watch Initial D Fourth Stage then correct yourself for saying what you just said.
If your too lazy to check, Here it is...

Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Oct 16 2005, 06:03 PM

Anyways back on Topic, thats a sweet ride you have Takumi Trueno, looking foward for the Night photoshoot
EDIT: Lol never mind you already showed him that your right.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 16 2005, 06:05 PM
Exactly Kerxn. I work. Thats how I earned my car. I dont mooch off my parents.

Do you work at BK, I think I seen you there...lol.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 16 2005, 06:09 PM
how in the hell can you tell the difference between them? in the cartoon all I see is two yellow rectangles. lol what are they supost to be?
sides if you want to get picky, takumi's interior was two-tone red.

he works at a movie theater.

Posted by: lotteman Oct 16 2005, 06:14 PM
ooo sorry i got owned lol but i remember there was a GT!? or was that only for levin? im confused
Posted by: MR_2 Oct 16 2005, 06:14 PM
| can you come pick me up with that car, and show me what you can do with that car
how long did it took you to finish the project? Just wondering.
Posted by: Silent121 Oct 16 2005, 06:15 PM
Your not the only one who got owned, I thought there was a GT slapped on there as well.
Posted by: Kerxn Oct 16 2005, 06:15 PM
| It may look fake, but do you know it is? No, you do not judge a book by it's cover. It's like the Ford Festiva Shogun, it looks wimpy and a gay car right? Hell no, it'll probably kill whatever the hell you drive. You do not judge by looks man, I have seen these tough ass looking guys who are really cool and sensitive whn you meet em. It's the same with the hood.
Yes you might say it's all not valid or something but whatever.
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Oct 16 2005, 06:17 PM
your both wrong! He works for CSI!!
Posted by: gReAtWaLL4o8 Oct 16 2005, 06:19 PM
dam...hella nice car TT......very clean...i hella wanted to go to this thing but i couldnt make it
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 16 2005, 06:20 PM
Exactly. Can you really tell that they are not the right ones or the right ones?
In the cartoon do they ever zoom in to show you that it is carbon fiber? Surprisingly no. All you see is that it is black. Though I went out of my way to get the carbon fiber hood and flip lights
See for yourself...
Taken literally a minute ago.

This may be the most uber car I've ever seen.
Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 16 2005, 07:23 PM
| Oh... oh holy damn... that's beautiful, man! Best Fujiwara-mobile I've seen... ever. I mean, finally one with the CF headlights...
Sure, there are nitpicky things like the tachometer limit, the mudflaps, the seats and whatever else people can find... but come on. That's a wonderful car, man. You should be very proud of it, if you aren't already. ^-^
So, the engine works and everything? She runs well? Last time I heard news from this project it was just sorta a hulk...
Anyway. Damn. Just damn.

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 16 2005, 07:52 PM
The engine works very well. Roars/growls just like what you hear from Initial D. Though slightly different.
Posted by: Maverick Oct 16 2005, 08:01 PM
wasnt it like red/tan-brown or something weird like that. ugh.
anyway, i applaud you just for the shear amount of time seems you put into this thing.

what do you expect from a Initial D forum admin? lol.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 17 2005, 02:42 PM
from what I read in "the foglight thread" they are supost to be cibie's... what are yours? lol
anyhoo, what are your future plans for it? Be it modifactions/alterations or future events?
Posted by: Akira Oct 17 2005, 03:04 PM
| If people REALLY wanna get picky it's not RHD.
I think it's beatiful.
But about the foglamps, it's true you can't tell. But it's known Takumi has Cibie foglamps.
There's two kinds of carbon fibre, you got the wrong kind(which is what I think someone was trying to say earlier), I prefer the kind you have, but meh.
Carbon Fibre, and Carbon Matte. Matte is black, but you can still tell it's carbon cause it doesn't look like paint, and carbon fibre 'fibre' looks threaded. you can still call matte CF. Look at the ae86 in the live action movie, that's matte.. some people said it's painted but they don't know what matte looks like, and that's it, you can tell it's not paint.
Just to clearify, not being picky, I think it's the sex.
Just gotta know, Alex, how does it perform?
Posted by: sideways Oct 17 2005, 03:06 PM
Making me anxious to let a few secrets out of my closet, but in good time i suppose.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 17 2005, 03:06 PM
Well, I eventually plan to get the official Watanabes. The side decals that go over the moldings I ordered about two weeks ago but they still have not come so I will add those once they arrive. I will also be improving the engine such as the custom waterline kit we made.
Posted by: sideways Oct 17 2005, 03:13 PM
Thought you had a waterline relocation kit on there already, did you just plumb around it?
Posted by: Axl Oct 17 2005, 03:21 PM
wow your car is awesome
Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 17 2005, 03:33 PM
It would be very interesting to see TT's "Trueno" versus your Corolla, Sideways... heh... BMI, eat your heart out... >.>
Back on topic. Side decals that go over the moldings? Which pieces are those?
And are the Watanabes any larger? For some reason, the wheels you have on now seem very small...
I'm also curious as to whether you're actually going to try some events with this car. I mean, you've got it dolled up as Takumi's ride... I'm sure that most of us want to see it slide!
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 17 2005, 03:46 PM
just wondering but if we cant tell, how is it "known"?
sideways, I hope you have some non ugly rims in your closet cuz damn.
*TT, sell sideways those konigs.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 17 2005, 03:55 PM
| Nomake, If you look on the side of Takumi's car it will have TRUENO decals over the white side mouldings.
Akira, The car runs awesomely. Though it does eat up gas somewhat fast. Sometime Ill have to record the roar of the engine.
Posted by: sideways Oct 17 2005, 04:21 PM
| Ya ya just ignore my question
As to nomake; depends on the watanabe. they offer a huge variety of sizes, they do offer 14x7- which is what TT is running. And when it comes to car vs car, his is better then mine in most respects for the time being. Only way mine would be able to keep up is if I was a better driver
Posted by: Kerxn Oct 17 2005, 04:54 PM

Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 17 2005, 06:50 PM
Huh? Why is my head going to explode? Hey, if a guy wants to spend his own chedda to copy a cartoon, its his prerogative.
Posted by: Neo Lorrnoke Oct 17 2005, 07:01 PM
Wow. What a surprise. He took it well.
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 17 2005, 07:06 PM
Whats there to take? I've seen dozens of these copy-cat type rides while I was stationed in Japan. Seeing something like this on an ID fanboy board is not suprising in the least.
Posted by: sideways Oct 17 2005, 07:13 PM
Take a closer look just behind and above the wheel
Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 17 2005, 07:41 PM
Someone didn't catch the fact that I put Trueno in quotes. XD
Thanks for the answers, TT and Sideways. Much appreciated.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 17 2005, 08:55 PM
| I dont see why peope are so picky about calling a car a Trueno or Corolla or AE86 or whatever. I switch between each name all day.
If I converted my car from RHD to LHD, would you call it a Trueno or a Corolla? Think about it. Since that is basically what they do in the manufacture.
If you guys want to argue wether it was made in the US or Japan. If my car was made in the US as LHD or made in Japan LHD then shipped. What do you guys think.
Just something for you guys to think about. Lets not get too off-topic.
I believe the keyword is "Japan". Not many private owners have done it in the US. Those that you see online in maybe google are not by private owners and even they I have seen nearly all of them and they are done worse then mine.
Posted by: Sti_Brumby Oct 17 2005, 09:00 PM
Who really cares "what " it is, It's a nice panda 86 that what counts
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 17 2005, 09:08 PM
Exactly, Well said Sti_Brumby.
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 17 2005, 09:20 PM
Hey, thats all well and good. Just know that you're now no longer allowed to call anything is "rice" without calling the kettle "black".
Posted by: solarxclipse Oct 17 2005, 10:12 PM
one thing i noticed on your car was youre using a kouki rear bumper instead of zenki rear bumper. are you getting a zenki rear bumper when you get a chance or youre going to stick with what you have right now?
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 17 2005, 10:19 PM
theres a difference?
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 17 2005, 10:34 PM
Tell me, What is the difference? Assuming your speaking of only JDM bumpers and not the American.
Posted by: solarxclipse Oct 17 2005, 10:35 PM
yes. here are some pics to see the difference.
my car with a zenki rear bumper
the difference is the lining from the bumper. the kouki one have 3 lining while the zenki one only have one lining.
Posted by: Batmanbeyon Oct 17 2005, 10:50 PM
ah lol i didn't look at the pick up close another question is that a shock and sping combo or a coil setup? and would you happen to have any vids of the car would love to hear the engine.
Posted by: Sti_Brumby Oct 18 2005, 02:14 AM
yeah post some vid's would love to hear her scream
Posted by: Steve Oct 18 2005, 06:57 AM
It's like putting a Type R Sticker on a Civic with Type R Everything. It still won't make it a Type R. No matter how hard you try. Look at your insurance thing, it's gonna say Corolla. Or like a 240SX owner caling their car a Silvia. It just doesn't work...
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 18 2005, 07:18 AM
Its falling on deaf ears man, no sense trying to pass the word. Look at the majority of posters in this. Most of them dont post in the automotive section and also would know a camshaft from a crankshaft. All they see is "OMGZ Trueno!!!!111" Just let it be...
Posted by: Steve Oct 18 2005, 07:20 AM
It just bugs the hell out of me. I guess your right though; there's no point in trying.
Posted by: ams14 Oct 18 2005, 12:40 PM
| I would buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Corolla-GTS-Twin-Cam-Rare-86-Corolla-GTS-Twin-Cam-16v-Drift-Trueno-AE86-4AGE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6445QQitemZ4581513884QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW,cause I like the color. But I'm not paying 2,600 for a 158 000 mi car. My dad bought his 89 corolla for 600 and it runs very good.
Back on what you guys were saying, there a lot of people who don't know the diff between a corolla and trueno. Ever since I showed my friends at my old school Initial D. The think all corollas are "86 truenos" LOL. "Cool Imma take my mom trueno and DRIFT!" one of them said.
Speaking of 86s,I saw a rice out one a few days ago riding with a civic right by him LOL. Huge Wing and stickers all over the place heh.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 18 2005, 01:41 PM
| I thikn that AP1 and flohting need to actually read and respect the rules. No forcing your opinion on others. Quit whinning.
This isnt a debate. Its a show. If you want to discuss about the different names of cars, make your own thread.
Posted by: ride4life32 Oct 18 2005, 02:17 PM
| Jesus Crist I dont understand why everyone is nitpickin at Takumi_Truenos car I think it is probably the most tastefully done car I have seen and not to mention he payed for it himself. Why do all of you keep bashing about it I think you guys should just take it for what it is a very nicely done Panda AE86

I *heart* Blue 86, but I prefer a deeper shade of blue.
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 18 2005, 03:50 PM
No, you need to actually read my post. I was telling him to chill with the name stuff because its a waste of time.
Posted by: Neo Lorrnoke Oct 18 2005, 04:33 PM
Listen, Mr. I HATE INITIAL D AND KIDS WHO CALL THEIR USDM JAPANESE VEHICLES THE NAMES THAT THEIR JDM ALTER-EGOS ARE CALLED, you need to take a good look what you are doing.
1. You are posting on an INITIAL D board.
2. That's it. c'mon do i have to point out how wrong it is for you to wander in here hating on these kids who merely express their fandom for Initial D by slapping on stickers and doodads from the anime onto their own vehicles? Listen - KIDS. Not full grown adults who joined the military, get their ass shipped overseas, go out to get drunk, take apart engines, get drunk, sleep, get relocated to another country, wash rince and repeat till they end up in an actual war and get a bullet in their head.
So relax there. Does it hurt you when someone calls a Corolla a Trueno? If it does, i think you should see a doctor about that. I'm sure that isnt normal.
Also, so what if on the insurance papers it reads "Corolla"? So what if his car isnt a genuine RHD Toyota Trueno? It's Mr. Trueno's car - he deals with it. It's none of your business.
Alright, im done.
Takumi (Mr. Trueno) Trueno, once again, i commend you on your great work on the car. Dont let these lowlives get you down. Same goes to anyone else who puts effort into their cars to get them the way they like them - and hey, call your car whatever you want - fine by me.
Posted by: Bishop Oct 18 2005, 04:42 PM
.....Made props on the car One question though,do you plan to make it RHD ?
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Oct 18 2005, 04:44 PM
Posted by: Steve Oct 18 2005, 04:59 PM
Hey. That was un-called for. Instead of atleast thanking him for helping our country, you post around say "till they end up in an actual war and get a bullet in their head".
Posted by: Neo Lorrnoke Oct 18 2005, 05:04 PM
| [off topic]I'd rather not thank someone who follows the commands and orders of that War-Monger who sits in the oval office, rather than thinking for themselves [/off topic]
Heads up to admins/moderators - many apologies if this turns into a flame-fest (i know my warn level is a 67%). I just dont like this floatingpoint guy's attitude.
Posted by: sideways Oct 18 2005, 05:40 PM

Posted by: ragingSPAM Oct 19 2005, 10:57 AM
wow u really turned that thing around...get some yellow tinting spray from a ricer shop and paint the fogs....nice job takumitrueno....very nice...two things u need to add tho the trueno mudflaps and the trueno on the sidemoldings which is on the very back section
Posted by: QstiX Oct 19 2005, 11:38 AM
No one noticed... it's (well... obviously) NOT the correct engine. No group A modification, and a higher rev meter isnt going to change that... also the real meter is the TRD STACKSTACKSTACK thingy.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 19 2005, 12:24 PM
I think its hillarous that flohtingpoint is getting all the attenion when all he was basicly pointing out, and I'll quote him I was telling him to chill with the name stuff because its a waste of time. which was replying to AP1freakaslide, whome you dont even mention.
No one is insulting TT's car, or his reasons for buying it. And for everycomment that was made about "its a corolla" you guys have two long winded paragraphs whining about it.
The majority of the people on these boards are quite young but I would say most of the people that are posting in Auto disc. are over 16. The first person to even make the comment that everyone is getting pissy over is what 15, 16? So obviously that age groupe can recognise that putting badges on a car doesnt change what it is. (his civic type-r comparison is quite accurate to an extent). heh, I have seen this same discussion on club4ag and its funny as hell seeing how defencive some people get when you call their car a corolla. Again, I dont believe his comment had anything to do with TT's directly but rather what people are calling it.
I for one dont really care in this case, his car is honstely supost to be a spiting image of the car featured in Initial D and it does so fairly well. I dont believe he is trying to pass it off as a real true to life "trueno apex-gt whatevertheycallit" but rather using it as simply a nickname.
Wow... that has to be one of the most retarded things I have seen posted here. And that is coming from someone who isnt a Bush supporter to say the least. *edit* I had a long winded post but since I doubt anyone will read it in its entirety and not mistaken the actual point of it I'm not even going to bother.
bah, sidewaysgts if you may, just up my warning and delete all of these unnecessary posts in this thread.

| Steve- remember supertercel and his uber idiotic buddy? Yeah, this'll just turn into that again. Which may be fun. We need to make a chat and invite everyone who wants to take part in the debate sometime.
Alex(2), I'll admit, I like this. It's uber hot. Nice steering wheel also. A little lame with the sticker, but cool none-the-less.

No, we all know. We all also know that Alex doesn't have the funds to get such an engine into his car at the present time. And we know that his current engine doesn't go up to 11000 RPM, which is why we can forgive his mismatch of an RPM gauge.
I mean, come on... bottom line, his car is beautiful.

A1, instead of worrying about what other people are modding, driving, racing or replecating... why not concentrate on what you're doing, instead of being a little whinny B*tch.

I like the car its a good replica. I think it's bteer than some kid running around with chrome trim around everything and underbody lights saying "look at my trueno hachi-roku" Who cares if they call it trueno corolla etc.. people who actually tune these cars obviously know they couldn't be a trueno so all you can do is shake your head and go on with life becasue we all know this isn't the last time this is going to happen. Besides isn't it more fun when people look at you wierd when you say "I drive a corolla"
Posted by: Uchiha Itachi Oct 20 2005, 08:18 AM
nice one.. and wise words, so follow them and enjoy the view of a nice replica..
and btw, how many exact replicas is there of the well know initial d car...
(probably none, so stop bithcing, its a friggin artwork that car)

Last time I checked the real meter was a Smith's tach.
Imagine that topping at 12,000 RPM, and not 14.
Anyways Auto Meter is top end stuff. He still has a good tach.
Also where's the oil pressure and water temperature gauges? ^-^;

takumi trueno... YOUR CAR IS THE BOMB! (hahah in the complimentary sense of things! )
i can't believe all these people are all like "its not perfect"....
mannnnn TT WOULD HAVE NO LIFE IF HE WAS OBSESSING OVER EVERY LITTLE IMPERFECTION in replicating Tak (Takumi)'s car. u people are crazy lol.
i mean sure it'd be absolutely awesome if his car was picture perfect replication of Tak (Takumi)'s but cummon be realistic here!
quite frankly... i am rather envious of your ride TT! i can almost gaurantee the majority of us are like damn you takumi trueno!
Posted by: Rudy Oct 20 2005, 02:07 PM

Of course I'm just kidding XD But that car did make me drool a ton....
Posted by: Steve Oct 20 2005, 02:12 PM
Excuse you. I do own a car and it's a Corolla, not a Trueno. And I'm not criticizing your car. I'm just stating the obvious.
Edit- Whatever. I'm gonna drop the subject...
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 20 2005, 02:39 PM

Think before you post.
So how long have you had your license? You just turned 15.
So you have a car, can you drive it legally?
Dont bother replying. As I have said before this is not a post to judge my car its to show itto those who wanted to see it. If you havea problem follow the rules and dont post.
Now back on topic. Thank you Silver*Girl for the compliment.

Posted by: ride4life32 Oct 20 2005, 05:19 PM
| considering how Takumi_Trueno's is american and taht one is from Japan i dont think it can be comparable, seeing how readily that guy there can come up with the parts to get his AE86 into tip top shape, but I do like the way that one looks but he is missing the carbon headlights like Takumi_Trueno has . I would also say that his is almost as close as it can possibly with a budget of an 18 year old.
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 20 2005, 05:28 PM
In his logic, this also means everyone that praises his vehicle has no clue what they're talking about, as they're not allowed to "critic" ( or critique if we want to spell it correctly) his vehicle.
Totally agree with you n00b, it was a bad choice of words on his part.

1. Shumacher fVcked up twice in China. Bad luck? Thats not what THEY think.
2. Hobbs WAS a racer. He may not have been as good as Shumacher is now, but he WAS a racer.
3. Hobbs was racing when Schumacher was still a kid.
4. Shumacher is NOT an 18 year old kid with an undisputable love for Initial D.
Both men have actively participated in racing. Both know their shit, the only difference is that Hobbs' best position was 7th. While Shumachers has been 1st. On several occasions.
Comparing a kid who has no money, no car, no knowledge on how to fix up a car to Hobbs imo is a little... ehhhh... wierd, so is comparing a champion F1 racer like Shumacher to an Initial D fan who takes his love for the series beyond just doting on the next manga or episode or owning an AE86 card in Initial D: Arcade Stage.
Your argument is invalid.
Another thing. The AE86 that Sainz pointed out, that's from Austrailia. Takumi Trueno and his car are from California. Takumi Trueno (an 18 year old - probably still in highschool) vs. Bel Garage (A frigging tuning shop - http://www.belgarage.com.au/index.php). Make sense? If it does, you might want to try buying prescription lenses, or if you already do, go visit an optician to see if your condition has worsened, since your obviously having trouble reading.
Oh, and apparently, my soldier remark has struck a sour note with some of you, in which case, I HOPE YOU GUYS... Will accept my apology. I still dislike Floatingpoint though.

Floh was just referring to the fact that "critique" is both good and bad, yet it was meant to use it in a purely negative context. Therefore, by saying that people shouldn't critique your car, it in effect says that no one should say anything about it.
On the flip-side... I was browsing around looking for the license plate of the Trueno from Initial D today and stumbled upon something kinda interesting.
At first I thought it was you, Alex... but at closer inspection, it isn't. Wonder who's got that...

Honestly, I'd never seen one with the CF headlights aside from Alex's. Lots copy the First Stage version (though have rediculously small door kanji), lots have the CF hood but not lights... and with the one I found today, I've seen a grand total of two which do the rest. Alex's is still more "accurate," though...
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 21 2005, 10:02 PM
| I'm almost possitive I saw pictures of one that was located in the US that was a VERY good copy. Same rims, same red interior(those two being where TT's car falls short), CF headlights, the only differences that I saw get mentioned was the fact that it was LHD and its 20v engine wasnt like the 11k redline 230hp one in the cartoon, but it did have the tach. I also believe they said the suspension setup was based off of KT's TRD ae86 do to his involvement in the cartoon.
I'd go out see if I can find it but I'm almost possitive its been posted here before. And honestly, I dont care enough to spend 5 minutes looking for it.

pecx, You have made 4 posts and ALL of them including that one you have shown us that same picture. And one from a car show which has been seen over the net. That same exact one. How about a bread and milk?
For all we know you took that picture from somewhere else. Btw the fog lights are not the right ones. Watch the anime and you will notice they are larger like mine.
Now why would you have to show us your car in every post? Seems like someone is trying to prove something.
Its a nice car I admit Im jsut a bit skeptical as I have seen that car around the net . And not from just you.

I am sure many people want to see that. Oh yeah Alex, you should post some bread and milk pics too. Although I've seen it in person, but it's always a nice addition for the IDW Gallery.

okay well I have some bread and milk, but how do I prove that its actualy mine?
Posted by: Perry Oct 23 2005, 01:32 AM
Are you referring to the car or the bread and milk ? We figure it's a better, if not best way to prove the car is yours on the internet. Surely, you can just put bread and milk on a car and take a pic and say the car is yours. But what's the point ? Ego booster ? Come on now. But I am not surprised if people really do that, there are all kind of people on the internet.
By the way, the official bread and milk pic requires a loaf of bread, those 1-gallon bottle milk (preferably full fat) and a sign saying IDW, IDWF.. etc something to that extent.

I meant that I'd seen that photo of the AE86 and the girl here on IDW a long while ago, which is why a post count of four was a bit suspiscious, you know?
Great car as well.
Posted by: style86 Oct 23 2005, 10:47 PM
Oh, by the way, your car looks strikingly similar to a car for sale on club4ag a while back. Was it you that put it up for sale or did you buy this car from someone unfinished?
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 23 2005, 10:55 PM
| I havent joined Club4ag till a this week so I wouldnt know. Well, back then I was looking for info on the car. I wasnt a member though.
The car I bought was unfinished. If you ask if my car was unfinished well of course it wasnt. Everyone that I have seen isnt sold like mine.Once we bought it we stripped it down. And slowly put it back together. Its how my dad does things being a mechanic.
I think that club4ag posts most any car for sale even if it isnt theirs so I wouldnt be surprised, right?

Look at the license plate, and considering what the name of the page is called and the name of our member, this kind of proves that it actually IS his.
And TT, No one has a truly perfect replica out there, I'm not picking apart anyone's cars, and even though you may feel irritated that people are picking on yours, I don't think you should pick out other people's replica's, I mean, that's just being a hypocrite now. Plus you're seeming to be a bit cocky there, man.. But, people could go on saying "who cares about slightly smaller foglamps, you don't even have watanabes/have a LHD car!" But they don't. They're all nice cars, so everyone stop with the being picky, only the person with a truly perfect replica has the right to be picky about the others.
... Except for that one guy trying to sell off his kouki usdm ae86 as an expensive ID replica, you can pick at him.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 24 2005, 02:52 PM

At present, it isn't running, because I'm lazy. But here in a few days, I suppose I'll get her running again. IMHO I think the Takumi 86 is a tad played out, it's cool, but what happened to being unique? I'm in the process of turning my Kouki hatch into a Zenki hatch, as I'm mad in love with this kouki-only grey color, but the zenki bodystyle more.
le dirty engine
new suspension.. shorter wheelgap, but bug it if i can't get it any lower. gonna change the springs again soon.
Granted, it looks dirty as hell right now, but I promise it's not as ugly as the pictures fortell.
i would post a front shot, but all i have are old uninspiring pictures, so i'll just follow up with a plethora of them in a seperate thread (pardon the thread jacking) in a few days when I get her running again.

no offense, i'm a casual poster, so i'm pretty laid back about checking things. pardon the mistake.
Posted by: Nappy Hared Azn Oct 24 2005, 09:54 PM
Nice car. I personally would never put so much time into a car that isn't really unique or original, but I've gotta say that it's nice.
Posted by: pecx Oct 24 2005, 10:02 PM
Hi on the other post some body took a picture of my car and post it, then other guy said my car is dirty(it's really dirty ()/) So I post the cleanest picture i have which is the one I took from the car show. And I post in here just to say hi (^0^)/ ("Hey We have the same car... panda86") No big deal I'm not trying to prove anything. Your car is much better than my car nice swap. What I did on my car is only the exterior.
It's really my car www.xanga.com/pecx86
ps. your fog light look like the one from Pepboy. I didnt say you bought it from Pepboy but Pepboy has one look like your. PEPBOY is the autoparts store like Autozone
I believed in the anime it has a window visor.
I just LOVE ae86.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 24 2005, 10:04 PM
| Alright. No hard feelings. You have a very nice car and you should be proud of it.
Do you mean Pep Boys? Or someone called Pepboy? A lot of people have weird usernames.
I didnt know Autozone sold parts like mine. I think Pep Boys is not around thie area anymore.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 24 2005, 10:28 PM
| I saw that edit'ed post.
O'Rielly foglights pwn all other cheap foglights. muwhaha.
Seriously though, Maybe you should just make an ae86 thread/min FAQ. Seeing how Initial D's main car is the ae86 and we get a lot of people asking questions about them which is often fallowed by misinformation.
Posted by: style86 Oct 24 2005, 10:34 PM
| Takumi Trueno,
I think this car looks strikingly similar to yours, everything from the colored 20v valve covers down to the overlapping black paint on the gas door:
I would give you mad props if you built that car from the ground up... but it seems like you 'finished' someone else's unfinished project.
Don't be jealous... you're not the only one that has an ID replica car.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 24 2005, 11:13 PM
| Can you show more pictures? You have spotted two things similar but I find many cars with the gas door painted over like mine.
As for the valve covers. I forget the name of the place but they sell a lot of those engines. They have a garage pack full of them and many were like that. But eventually Ill make it silver again to match Takumi's
Considering what my car looks like and what that looks like. They dont look too similar.
Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 25 2005, 04:40 AM
| ... *blinks at photos* ...aren't those pictures of TT's Corolla before it was his?
I swear, if I had the bookmarks from my old computer, I'd know for sure... but I remember seeing those two photos here a long while ago...
The deja vu, it kills my brain. >.<
Posted by: Akira Oct 25 2005, 12:02 PM
| Uhm... The black engines are "blacktops". Takumi has a modified "silvertop".. the silvertop is from the AE101, and the blacktop is from the AE111.
It looks like two of the sovers were just replaced with silver ones. I personally like the look, but if you wanna go all out replica, you'll need the cover assembly for a silvertop. then visually it shouldn't be too different, but for the record, Takumi's car has the front cam guard removed, which is open showing off your cams and belts.
EDIT: TT, I remember you telling me the other day about the sound of your car. The car you're hearing isn't even revving to 12 rpms in the show, which I find almost disappointing, it's just keichi tsuchiya's trueno, so if you want to make it accurate, upgrade a few things according to his ae86, but remember you're running a 20v while he's running a heavily modded 16v(last I checked), but generally they're mostly the same motor.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 25 2005, 12:22 PM
nope, the TRD ae86 is infact a 20v.
Posted by: DALAZ_68 Oct 25 2005, 01:25 PM

Posted by: sideways Oct 25 2005, 05:55 PM
| Any official source saying WHAT car they used for the sound in ID? I can swear ive read a numbero f times it was HIM driving, but i dont recall them saying WHAT car they were using...
And ya, tsuchiyas white trd is a 20v, always has been. I think hes on his 2nd or 3rd engine atm (last i checked at least)
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 25 2005, 08:24 PM
After I added the air horns/velocity stacks my engine sounds VERY similar to the sound used in Initial D Fourth Stage.
Posted by: Tomiya Takato Oct 25 2005, 08:32 PM
The 86 after bunta change its engine to the high rev engine the sound of the 86 was very loud but those sound are very nice to hear

haha, all u need a is plastic up filled with water in your cup holder
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Oct 26 2005, 12:18 PM
TT's Trueno is a Blacktop 20v
Takumis 86(Not the real Takumi, the Initial D takumi) is a Silvertop 20v
Doesnt really matter, both engines are awesome and TTS 86 still rocks.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 04:14 PM
Why wouldnt I go to college. I still have more then enough for college.
Posted by: Gabriel Oct 26 2005, 05:20 PM
I think he means that since you're not in College spending money on books and classes you can put that money toward your car. You also have more time to work on the car than a college student does. He never said you won't go to college...
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 05:45 PM
Well I assumed he was somewhat being a jerk saying that since I put my money into this car I wont have enough for college.
Posted by: Neo Lorrnoke Oct 26 2005, 06:08 PM
| Takumi Trueno, you worked hard on your car and for your age, what you have done is amazing - and someone going to college can also do what you have done, it's just that they'd have to manage their time, adjust their schedule to it, and also find a source of income to do it all. It's all about balance.
More than anything it takes initiative. You have shown plenty of that.
And Takumi Trueno, your assumption is not completely wrong, Iceman is indeed being a jerk.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 26 2005, 06:43 PM

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 08:44 PM
Now brown nosing means that I would be kissing someone's butt. But who am I kissing up to? I dont have to or havea reason to kiss up to any of you. If you want a warning or something then I can grant you one, since your being disrespectful for no reason.
Posted by: InitialN00b Oct 26 2005, 08:48 PM
turn down the sensitivity meter; holy fvck
Posted by: Gabriel Oct 26 2005, 08:48 PM
I think he was talking to Neo Lorrnoke...
Posted by: Perry Oct 26 2005, 08:54 PM
err.. Alex, I think he was referring to Neo..
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 08:58 PM
Its too hard to tell anymore. People dont quote so who is he talking to? I just assume that Nick is pointing at me because he said himself he likes to mess with me.
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Oct 26 2005, 09:06 PM
Go ahead then give me one. But for your information I wasnt talking to you, I was just giving Neo Lorrnoke a hard time. If I HAD been talking to you I would have quoted something you said since my post didnt fallow directly behind one of yours.(like I am now)
So yeah, give me a warning then.
edit: Didnt even notice any of the above posts..
Posted by: Neo Lorrnoke Oct 26 2005, 09:10 PM
Oh, theres a meter for that now?
Takumi Trueno - 18's comment was directed at me. No worries. He can call it what he wants to. During my time here, i've noticed that nothing positive comes from that creep.
Actually, please grant him his wish and raise his warning level (lower mine if you'd like too, btw PLEASE!!!)

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 09:30 PM
Ya I do too. But a lot of people are rude in this section so its not like say Initial D General Discussion. Here too many people critque.
Posted by: InitialN00b Oct 26 2005, 09:30 PM
you make way too many assumptions for your own good
Posted by: Neo Lorrnoke Oct 26 2005, 09:53 PM
You make too many assumptions for your own good that Takumi Trueno makes too many assumptions for his own good.
YOU QUOTED Takumi Trueno's post which clearly indicates that 18 did not quote or direct what he said to me, how is Takumi Trueno to know? Remember, it has been stated by both of them that they like to mess around with each other. I'm sure TT only glances at this thread from time to time to make sure that people arent spamming it - and probably noticed 18's offensive post and reacted it to it.
Once again, it would be hard for him to tell, on the spur of the moment who the message was intended for.
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 10:10 PM
Too true. Well enough of the explaining or calming done. Lets just get on with it. Its in de past.
Posted by: lee_integra Oct 26 2005, 10:15 PM
Let me be the first to say. Takumi_Trueno, I am envious of your hatchiroku.
Posted by: Sti_Brumby Oct 26 2005, 10:41 PM
lol, your not the first
Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 26 2005, 11:01 PM
| Wow, such stupidity in this thread already. XP Kinda sad. Nick, that comment was priceless, by the way.
So, TT, how about those clips? Video with audio? Just audio? Somethin'? How's it comin'?
I'm a video whore. >.>
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 26 2005, 11:42 PM
Its kinda hard for me to be outside of my car video taping while reving the engine and driving it......
Posted by: Tomiya Takato Oct 27 2005, 12:04 AM
Im also drooling to see the video and the reving
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 27 2005, 12:08 AM
Or you can just hold the camera and blip the throttle body. Thats how all the giddy little new bov owners on NICO record their sound.
Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 27 2005, 05:11 AM
I could show you some examples of how to do it. ^_~
For one, you could just put the camera on the ground near the car and rev it. That's what I did. If you want driving, find a place with a fencepost or guardrail and put the camera on it. Then drive by. Simple.
Posted by: lance Oct 27 2005, 06:28 AM
blacktop/silver top, same thing?
Posted by: DALAZ_68 Oct 29 2005, 07:41 PM

I've said this before.
Takumi's engine is way more than a stock silvertop.
Posted by: Ryosuke_Gunma Oct 30 2005, 04:29 AM
| That's one of the sweetest AE86 I've ever seen. I also like the TRD steering wheel.
Good job TT
Posted by: Medic-kung Oct 31 2005, 01:13 AM
| Wow that's nice and clean of AE86 that i've ever seen before!!!
If I can give a rate for this car I'd give 10/10
I've a question Takumi. That installed engine is the AE101's Engine? I've noticed it since I'ce seen the latest Totyta binary esclipse which make the shape ot "T" on it
[Claration : The Japanese believes if you having a leaf fall in to the teacup on the top it's mean the luckyness so that the Totyta's logo suing the binary esclipse shape for making the shape for logo one is for the teacup and one is for the fallen leaf]
I'm wish i can have my own car. But it quite too impossible for me in Thailand since there's no job unless you graduated and the part-time jobs give too few salary!!!
And the AE86 Quite rare to find for me (T_T) and it cost around 2500 dollars. And have to pay a tons of b......t taxes (I'm paying too much of tax too but there's no good things to the salary man like me but goes to those *----* government)
Anyways I still can find AE86 by smuckling from seaport. (It works)

you should also look into megasquirt as well. the latter should give one more satisfaction as you have to assemble the hardware AND make the harness yourself.
but it is considerably cheaper than all other stand alones out there.
