If we apply the same tweaks to the actual audio track I think we'd have the perfect base for the "serious" version of the episode. For the parody one we can just do what you suggested earlier and work with the audio-less video to create our own soundtrack. |

It was a given. I thought of showing it on IDW TV stream first, then post it here and on YouTube, et. al. sometime after that because I think IDWF members should see it before anyone else does. Now we only need to get the recordings/re-writes started but, I suspect that won't take too long. This post has been edited by Sanae on Nov 15 2009, 05:16 PM

I'm unsure what everybody's sense of humor is like, so I called it fail. I saw part 2. It's okay. I rate it 4 of 10. @ Alex Man, if that ever happened to Initial D, I'll die. TFS= genius. Watched Bardock: Abridged?

I'm on a shitty laptop that's pissing me off but still requires a few things to make it ready for my everyday needs and use |

Track 3? Yes, it has to be trimmed down to be 1:30 like the intro, but that should be WAY easier than editing out vocals, am I right? EDIT: Link removed because I just realized that Tessou did EXACTLY what I just suggested to create his file, therefore it's superior. f**k YEAR. PROTIP: I have every Initial D CD ever. For serious. EDIT: Ayako, I recommend Audacity since it's free. The only thing you have to be careful about is that by default, it's set to record in mono. If you can't figure out how to set it to Stereo, let one of us know and we can help you out. EDIT EDIT: I think that we should keep the OP (for the lulz), but the insert songs can be whatever we want. For instance, there should DEFINITELY be lulzy gangster rap in Papa's Benz. I LOVE IT WHEN YOU CALL ME BIG PA-PA etc. This post has been edited by Nomake Wan on Nov 15 2009, 10:22 PM |

Shh. That's for me to know and for you to be in awe of. EDIT: Just tried to edit some lines in the Papa/Natsuki scene and came across something I should've realized earlier. The subtitle script is not going to be easy to work with, since the English translations aren't close to the actual "lip-flap" syllable count (which is based on the Japanese syllable count, not the translation). We'd be better off with a script that uses the Tokyopop Dub, if anyone's willing to give it a shot. I have the DVDs, but they only have subtitles for the Japanese version, like the fansubs. IDW Okamisan Group: Advanced Members Posts: 1,514 Member No.: 19,388 Joined: Aug 7th 2006 Location: Milan, Italy | I see what you mean and, I took some time to re-write the script while listening to the TokyoPop dub and now my brain hurts. I'm really sorry to say this but, the music, the voices and the way some of the sentences sounded made me want to throw myself down the nearest cliff. I had heard it was pretty bad but, seriously, I wasn't expecting it to be this atrocious! They make Bunta sound like a low-level thug....*runs to a corner to cry* At any rate, if any of you feels like doing a quick proofreading and/or quality check just to make sure I didn't miss anything/understood the heavy US slang correctly, I'll be forever and ever grateful. There's one word Itsuki says that I didn't understand at all, you'll see it's followed by three asterisks. *is off to re-watch the episode in Japanese* PS: If we do use this version, can we possibly keep the original names? Pretty please with a cherry on top? This post has been edited by Sanae on Nov 16 2009, 04:20 AM Attached File ( Number of downloads: 12 ) This attach file is hidden from Guests. There should be two versions: One the "serious" English one using either the TokyoPop dub or an adaptation from the subtitle file (since it doesn't lip-synch well); the other one will be the crack-filled script you guys will come up with. EDIT: There's no deadline for when you guys need to record everything but, of course, the earlier get them done, the better. For that purpose, I think you guys should really make a final decison on whether you want to use the TokyoPop script or the subtitle one. As per the crack-filled one, I think you could use either one as a base, just make sure you keep the words as similar-sounding as possible to the original ones so that we don't mess up with the lip-synch. So, to the Team: please come up with a decision as soon as possible so that you can all get things started, okay? This post has been edited by Sanae on Nov 16 2009, 06:34 AM

Tokyopop's lines are following a design that scriptwriters for anime created a long time ago. In simplest terms, it's simplification to fit the lip flaps. You have the literal line translation in English, the number of lip flaps, and a thesaurus on hand to complete this task. LITERAL: I was delivering tofu for the last seven years. (14 syllables) LIP FLAPS: 10 ADAPTATION: I've been running tofu for seven years. It's not difficult. You don't have to run from the existing Tokyopop script. You can just take the generally faithful subs and adapt them from there to match the flaps. |
