After I sold my truck I took that money and paid $400 for a pretty nasty Saab 9000 Turbo. It runs and drive great for having 258k or so on the meter the turbo hits strong even though its designed for economy and the engine sounds great even with broken rusted exhaust.

now as of today it lost a coolant hose and will not be driven till the parts I ordered come in and I can get them installed.

This car leaks oil out of the valve cover pretty badly has a broken yet brittle radiator and hoses along with much needed electrical and vacuum hoses. But I still have working dash lights high beams speedometer and tach but other then that all my other gauges are wonky and don't read correctly so I did buy from Auto Zone some gauges for it since they were right there and cheaper to get and put in sooner then later.

Today I ordered.

1. New Radiator

2. Coolant Hoses

3. New Front Brake pads

4. Spark plugs & Wires

5. New Distributor and Cap

6. New Valve cover gasket

no vacuum line yet that can hold off for a bit longer until this can can safely run without small squirts of water coming out of the hoses.

Although to get the car from having a terrible Idle I should have bought vacuum line as well but figured it still runs pretty well without it I could just hold off and pay some of my credit card off and start ordering again.

this is a on going build thread for my daily driver. I have sorta lost interest in the Mazda for now because there are things I want to do to it and I'm not sure if I want to set it up for drifting or not and just leave it at that or keep it as my other daily driver car.

Valve cover leaks suck. I'm dealing with the very same thing on my car at present. Something's blowing oil bad and it just happens to be taking it out on the valve cover.

Best of luck fixing that scrap back into shape!

Saabs are fun. You'll enjoy this project.

Make sure to do a boost leak test if you think you have vac line issues, that way you won't miss anything.

one reason why I know I do is because all the lines on my throttle body are brittle and cracked along with some that come off of my APC Valve which also needs to be replaced in the future.

this car was winter driven with no fucks that's for sure and not washed after driving on salted roads so a lot of the car is a real mess.

Saab's are fun I had an old 8v 900 Turbo 83 a year or so back and it was a blast sadly that car was not worth saving at the time and I couldn't get anyone to take it off my hands. $300 is what I paid for that one and it was nice while it had lasted.

The only Saab I've driven was a 9-5, and if I weren't concerned about getting parts, I probably would have gotten it for a daily.

By Tuesday I should have my new Radiator , Valve cover Gasket, Front Brakes, and Distributor Cap.

I will probably wait until everything has arrived before I start doing any work mainly because I need make sure I know how to take all the Intercooler piping and fans without breaking anything further then it already is.

Gonna be great putting in some Brand new NGK plugs and wires brand has not failed me yet for quality.

Turns out the Coolant hose I needed really badly was much cheaper from Autozone without payng an extra $11 in shipping for that one part separate.

While I'm at it I need to figure out how I will need to run my New Temp gauge and where it would be best to set it at along with the rest of the gauges.

More details to come later on when all of my parts arrive at my door step.

got all my parts in and immediately changed all ignition car ran way better idle was a lot smoother and startup was much quicker but the odd thing is after I did that my boost started to work like normal again except until I hit fuel cut off and my boost stay at around 10-11psi if i'm lucky.

got a reply on my post on the Saab forums and turns out it could be APC Solenoid going bad which is why i'm running under full boost and the car feels like it's losing boost when it surges

gonna pay off some of my Credit card and order a new one and hope it fixes the issue but them again the wires running into the connector are corroded at the ground and that could also be apart of the problem might have to see if I can replace both within a budget on that.

APC Solenoid $149 expensive but worth it! biggrin.gif

so I changed my Radiator out the other night the other night and well all the radiator hoses decided to take a shit on the car all of a sudden.

I also got a new boost gauge into the car and I'm only hitting 10psi on premium searched up a bit I will run full boost better 87 octane so guess that will be good on my wallet.

so now the car is sitting at my works shop ready to be driven home until I get into my new job early next month that will pay me quite a bit more then the mechanic job i'm working now.

I'm gonna be cook! At my buddies restaurant I start off making $850 a check every 2 weeks then as I learn more I will get more every paycheck I was told the max a check I could make was about $1500 but it feels worth it.

and with not only that news my money will be going towards a new car that I have been really wanting ever since I got into rotary powered cars.

gonna keep the SAAB and my first gen RX-7 as project cars for later and continue to build them shortly after I get into my new RX-8

You should be getting between $22100 and $39000 annually. Assuming a 40 hours work week, that's between $10.63 and $18.75 per hour. It's not bad money.

I hope it all works out for you. smile.gif

but on to the SAAB news I put my oil cooler Banjo bolt washers in the wrong spot and made my own lovely oil leak great right?

gonna fix it tomorrow morning at work and call it a day after that all the major stuff will be done and I will order some new cooling fans next paycheck and get them wired in to run as the cars running

Found out I can do a Cam swap from a N/A head that came on the B234i motors onto my older 2.0 motor and It will give me a nicer sound and some better perfomance. But I will keep looking into that swap for later.

I have officially sold this project to a friend and replaced it with a 2001 Saab 95 turbo that I then sold to someone else. The rx7 is the only priority now if anyone has the ability to delete this whole thread please do. smile.gif

Unless you want it deleted, there's no issue leaving it up. A few of us have build threads from cars long sold or dead, nice to look back on sometimes.
