I've toyed with the idea of a radio show for a while and decided that it's just not my cup of tea anymore. I think I'm out of music that hasn't been played a billion times over. I mean, you can only play so much Metallica and Disturbed before running out of fuel for the perfect show.

That said, I'm going to jump into the visual spectrum and do something I seriously enjoyed doing back when the TV stream was just sprouting. I'm talking about commentary. Live commentary of whatever I happen to pull off the shelf, with my reportedly Mayor Quimby vocals (for those that remember that bit from ancient history, I raise my glass to you). As I have a rather large collection of movies and shows, and my vast collection of smarmy quips and quotes, it should be a thrill for any and all interested.

My question for the other VJs, if there are any left: is there a schedule? I don't want to interfere with current shows, radio or video.

Please note that the first few airings will be tests and therefore pocked with errors until I have things smoothed out to acceptable levels. I have not tried the video stream on my latest rig yet so bear with me. It will get better with time.

First on the slate is Initial D Third Stage, subtitled so you're not missing any dialogue while I blather about.

This sounds like a great idea. I don't think there is a set schedule, just go by the DJ schedule, and that should be good enough.

I always thought you played 80's though. cool.gif

I ran out of decent 80's tracks as well. I could do a single Scott Pilgrim show since I have all three OSTs, but that would be the end of my radio shows.

As for the commentaries, anybody that remembers the off-the-cuff job I did with Extra Stage 2 should know what to expect. A lot of people seem to enjoy my shows when I cut the music and just talk about crap for 15 minutes, so this is an easier outlet for that since I don't have any interest in talk radio.

I will be doing some test runs on Wednesday at random times. This will be to test connection speeds and quality. Test footage will be from old Star Trek TNG episodes. cool.gif

Apologies to anybody that was looking forward to the test runs for some reason. I got hung up with class hours and recent IDW events, but I'm getting a mic today and calibrating everything tonight. There will be a test tonight, or my name isn't Tessou.

Your viewing material tonight will be the Star Trek TNG episode "The Naked Now". You won't be disappointed.

EDIT: Unfortunately I can't seem to locate the tutorial for setting up the video stream. I am all, how you say, forlorn. Once I get that running we'll be in business for streaming video. I've already calibrated the mic and it's glorious. It looks like the ridiculous wand used by Bob Barker on The Price is Right. biggrin.gif

For now, though, I'll play with what I do know how to operate.

There will be a show tonight, to start off a new set of saturday runs. Since Kyonpalm is airing at 2:30 AM EST, I'll be doing a 2-hour (ish) show at midnight EST. Wind that back three hours to compensate, west coast kids.

As always, the rules remain the same. Request songs, they get aired. Just try not to bust into Kyon's timeslot.

Also: DO NOT SEND ME DIRECT LINKS. As in, do not send me a request with a link to the song that automatically plays the song. This will disrupt the show by playing a track over the currently playing track, so please do it via sendspace or something.

Last night was a no-show due to some personal business, but next saturday I'll be back in high gear with some crazy shit. No hints.

Let's see if we can get more listeners than last time. wink2.gif

I have hinted a bit at this in the past few weeks, but we are "all systems go" for a revamped show with more of the classic tunes that made the original show popular, provided that Perry's tutorial on the upgraded DJ system is still valid. tongue.gif No anime tracks, no eurobeat, no bullshit. I regularly listen to classic rock and new wave when I'm at home or work, so that's what will primarily be playing on my shows.

I promise I won't be using too many of the tracks I've already played many times in previous shows. I will also have a microphone to entertain listeners between and during tracks.

I plan to have a weekly show to begin on one of the upcoming weekend nights, being Friday through Sunday, after which it will continue running every week at the same time. This thread will be updated once I nail it down (gotta converse with the other DJs to figure out a good free timeslot).

First show will go back in time to the 1970's, so fire up your DMC-12 and get ready to hear some serious shit.

Okabe: W-What? Did a website called Initial D World just announce that their radio stream is taking its listeners back in time to 1970!? Quickly, I must listen to this broadcast!

Kurisu: Okabe, does it look like we have the equipment to listen to an internet radio station at the Future Gadget Laboratory?

Okabe: Indeed it does my naïve assistant CHRISTIIIIIIIIIINA! Have we not a network-equipped central processing unit with temporal audio extensions right there on our desk!?
Kurisu: It's Kurisu and I'm not your assistant! Anyway, that computer is ancient! There's no way it's going to play internet radio!
Okabe: Fuuuhahaha. How small-minded of you. Daru here can program it to do so with ease, right Super Hakah Hashida Itaru?

Daru: Well yeah, I can write up a simple shoutcast interpreter for it, sure...also it's 'hacker' not 'hakah', durr.

Daru: Just tested it and we've got audio. Should be good to go.

Kurisu: I'd just like to say that I think it's insane that you're doing this without any preparation but that'd be like telling an anorexic they're thin. Tuning in...now!

Okabe: I can hear it... the sweet sound of 70's classic American rock music... It's filling my mind...!
