I dunno if this has been done before, but I wanna give it a go, and see how far it can go grin2.gif So yeah, a magazine. We've all seen them, got them, know what we like in them.

So I ask you, if I put page designs up here, will you give me ideas to make them better? You dont even have to be a GT fan, just think of it as an Import Tuner magazine or something. So yeah, opinions please.

Yeah, Issue #1 is done! Hooray! wink2.gif

Okay, for people wanting their cars featured, I need these things from you.

- Full car name
- Power
- Parts list
- 3 images, 2 must be portrait size and 1 landscape
- Unique quality of the car (top speed, tuning technique, anything)
- (optional) your own article, or a paragraph from you talking about your car

Website: http://GranTurismoMagazine.piczo.com (WIP, nothing uploaded yet)

i like it, but the Issue thing should be more subtle, like underneath the Magazine word

rest is great smile.gif

VERY nice work, and I'm surprised no one has came up with this idea before wink2.gif i love the concept...

Posted by: WRX Oct 11 2007, 01:48 PM
This is actually a good idea biggrin.gif and you should also include latest GT5P news

Posted by: Dr1FT3R Oct 11 2007, 01:53 PM
Thanks for using my Ad, tongue.gif

Good idea, now do my Stagea page, laugh.gif

Posted by: VTiRoj Oct 11 2007, 02:06 PM
Miguel: Thanks, glad you do wink2.gif

WRX: This is really meant to be like Import Tuner where its sorta just about the cars, but I will see if I can fit in some GT5 news at the back of the mag wink2.gif

Dr1FT3R: Hehe, no problem. And your Stagea has to wait its turn tongue.gif

Well, I got some more pages up, but I wont do anymore until tomorrow I think.

Thanks for the intrest biggrin.gif

Posted by: Kurei Oct 11 2007, 02:56 PM
Interesting to say the least, but if your trying to make it like Import Tuner its got a long way to go wink2.gif

You could also create some "Power pages", and coverage of various events

Posted by: vhsfootball_82 Oct 11 2007, 05:37 PM
I think the front cover where the chaser is should be.....

180mph and a Grocery Getter?
We check out this ride and see if it can really get us some bread and milk....

i dont im bored....
looks good but maybe try putting more color into the pages....

It looks good.

One quick question - is it gonna be a real mag thats gonna be available - as in online? if so there is no real need for the barcode, and it might b possible to make it into an interactive flash magazine - compiled in flash, with the option of turning the pages back and forth, or maybe in a PDF format - if ur gonna take this that far.

It wont be a proper, publicized magazine online no. The barcode is there for the realistic look. If I had a flash program, I would consider making it turn pages wink2.gif

Well, this is a WIP of a 1st issue so if you got an article, send it my way and I'll see what happens from there wink2.gif

I'm always up for other people's cars, or adverts smile.gif

Well... you're in luck! Battalion Tuners are back and on fire with three cars under their belt...

-Expect to see a 280bhp Toyota MR2 Spyder that hit 300kmh just nicely if you speed down De la Sarthe.

-After so much groaning from Top Gear concerning that British cars should have a chance at tuning, a 600bhp Jaguar XKR is in the process.

-If you wish to have a tricky family car that loves to challenge you with its naughty nature, then have a go at the Evo V, which obviously, will get you spanked if you don't tame it. tongue.gif

Sounds interesting, I'll actually edit the first post for requirements people wanting their cars featured will need.

Oh, and the Chaser article is up.

Posted by: Meteor Oct 12 2007, 06:54 AM
Too bad the Chaser didn't do 180. But it can carry groceries, and still do 177!

The 900bhp R34 pace-car is going to be something, no doubt.

Posted by: DAKMOR Oct 12 2007, 07:06 AM
Will there be part articles?
And part articles on swapping parts?

Swapping parts I dont think so, but comparisons on say, Stage 4 vs Stage 5 turbo's will happen, for example.

Meteor: You got that right wink2.gif

Shafz.

Heh, well, a Starlet may feature, its a car I have never touched in GT4, so the results will be interesting for sure. wink2.gif

Page 9 up.

Edit: Just a back cover left, and Issue #1 can be called complete wink2.gif

Posted by: Hachi_Roku Oct 15 2007, 02:48 PM
Dope. Chaser's finally gettin' some light around here. Might I suggest a Euro-bucket vs Asia-bucket showdown?

Gotta give the Chaser some love y'know wink2.gif

Maybe in the 3rd issue (yeah, I'm sure it'll come to a 3rd issue at this rate), I'll do a Asia vs Euro showdown. Maybe a 4WD head to head, or a supercar challenge. I'll see what happens.

Oh, and the back cover is now done. I can safely say Issue #1 is done and complete. grin2.gif

Gonna look into a freewebs or something for a website to display this thing whistling.gif

I really like it, however.. I think the cover is bit too cluttered. Either that or just not really organized. The little red section on the cover is a bit of an eyesore. Maybe take that out and just blend it into the background?

I hope these help:D

Oh yeah, Models are a plus too:D lol

Well, I dont know about tidying up the cover, but the red banner can be changed yes. I'll try black or a darker red or blue later on. wink2.gif

't all looks efhin spiffy moite!

Posted by: VTiRoj Oct 16 2007, 07:52 AM
Well, Issue #1 is uploaded to the site, but its .jpeg'd to hell. So, I'm gonna keep the issues on the forum until I can find a way to counter the problem.

Pity not being able to make pdf's, wat program do u use?

Posted by: VTiRoj Oct 18 2007, 08:21 AM
Photoshop CS for editing.

And Gran Turismo 4 for pictures, obviously. laugh.gif

Well the paperless printer takes care of that...
You produce the mag in Microsoft word or any editing program that lets you print the whole complete issue.

Then go like you would when printing normally, CTRL + P or something and select Paperless printer as your printer and hit ok.
It sends the data to your so called "printer" and that's when it pops up asking for HOW you want it to be saved and where, feed it to .PDF and select a suitable location and hit ok and off you go...

VOILA, 1x PDF magazine fresh off the print... Quality can also be adjusted, but at the cost of filesize.

My article - tell me what u think, will only do it once I get my PS2 back.

Hothatch shootout.

Gonna do a quarter mile, 0-100 and a time trial and compare the various hatches.

Some cars I'm gonna test:

206 gti
Golf V GTI
Civic Type R
Toyota Runx

I don't have my PS2 here so I can't see what hothatches there are, so post any cars u think I should run, the above is so u have an idea of the cars.

Restrictions are: Hothatch
2000cc or below, any drive-train.

Posted by: VTiRoj Oct 22 2007, 09:23 AM
Seems good smile.gif looking forward to it wink2.gif

Theres also the Seat Cupra and Ford Focus RS

Posted by: Shafz. Oct 22 2007, 09:24 AM
And the Starlet Glanza V.

Posted by: Flex. Oct 22 2007, 10:22 AM
the Fiat Peanut!(Panda)

Posted by: Kurei Oct 22 2007, 03:11 PM
Another idea if you ever have the time, is to do member's vehicle articles, like interview a fellow IDW member and put an article in on their vehicle, like interview WRX and create an article on his S2000, etc, and just work with whoever is willing to do the interview

That should bring some life back to this section

The Panda is as much of a hot hatch as I am a 6 foot rapper with a Escalade rolleyes.gif

Kurei: Hmm, thats not a bad idea wink2.gif it may fit with the theme of the next issue actually happy.gif

Posted by: Realmdrifter Oct 23 2007, 05:33 AM
I like that idea, pity I don't have any particular vehicle tongue.gif

Posted by: Flex. Oct 23 2007, 10:08 AM
i have a vehicle you could do an article about biggrin.gif
