Unlike Brake Cancel, there are moments where both brake and accel are pressed at the same moment. From what I've observed in videos, both techniques are still used in D8 and are required to tackle different type of corners and courses. I don't think this technique was used in D6 and D7 though I heard that it was a drifting technique in D5. This post has been edited by SonicSP on Oct 26 2014, 03:35 AM |

Despite me making jokes about coining the term (and having the internet thrown at me as a consequence........I am still scarred by that incident), it personally doesn't matter to me that much what it's called as long as we have a name for this specific technique. Kinda like how Eraser refers to spamming the gears up and down. This post has been edited by SonicSP on Oct 26 2014, 04:28 AM |

It could be a US thing for all I know since I wasn't around in the D3 days. This post has been edited by SonicSP on Oct 26 2014, 05:13 AM |

It's mostly useful only after Full Spec but I think there may be moments where you'll need it before that. The thing is, up until maybe one or two boxes before Full Spec you'll still lose speed when you steer so that adds to your cornering strategies. Once you're Full Spec, you'll have to manage your speed yourself than relying on the speed loss caused by the steering. The physics of the game before and after Full Spec are very different. It would be needed sooner or later though so you may want to practice it in any case.

Chiming in real quick. Eraser was the technique name for changing to a lower gear then back to the original gear quickly, before entering the turn, which helped slide the car more and corner at faster speeds. TST was the name for a more advanced technique that utilized Eraser, where you would Eraser towards the turn much earlier than normal, then slide back the other direction maintaining the slide angle from the Eraser, then Eraser again closer to the turn and gain even more turning angle and slide, allowing even faster cornering speeds than plain Eraser. The number of Erasers used and Erasers used in TST varies from car to course to corner and so on. I can show a video for example.
The first turn at 0:44 utilizes TST, the second turn at 0:57 utilizes a simple eraser. The R34 is a heavy, grippy car that turns like a boat, so it needs many more eraser than most cars. Cars that slide more needs less. HOWEVER ALL OF THIS IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT since these techniques don't exist in ID8. I just felt like sharing some knowledge haha. Oh you better be scared SonicSP, you better be. Anyway what everyone said is true. I found BA useful on Myogi during the consecutive turns, keeps speed and helps the turning.

Eraser was the shifting part by itself (spamming the shifter) TST was the back and forth turning + Eraser to execute a physics glitch thing.
