Trumps anything I've seen on Xbox360, easily. However... it's just a video. I saw no gameplay. An Opening video or trailer can be as beautiful as it wants because it's had a render farm spend days making it into a film. Gameplay is different. When I see some gameplay proof that it looks (and sounds) that beautful, then I'll really be excited. |

DING DING DING! let me know when they have actual gameplay footage. then you can compare. because if you've seen the GTHD demo available on PSN, it looks like crap. edit: side note-- have you seen DiRT? that game looks utterly amazing on 360. there's a demo available on the marketplace. Played the Dirt demo on my friends 360. I wasn't very good but the game is reaallyy fun and lots of different camera angles available. Damage is really cool and they show you percentages of the status of each aspect of the car. The ability to roam a little further off course than other games is also really cool.

Let's see if GT5 will live up to being 'The Real Driving Simulator' instead of a good eyecandy showcase like most games today. ...though I guess, to most gamers, GRAPHICS ARE EVERYTHING! I wish they'd all fall off a cliff and die. This post has been edited by mark4000 on Jul 13 2007, 03:47 PM |

Well. I guess I'm a part of that market. Besides, even the Williams F1 team have a sim with graphics on par with a PS1 (or was it 'first generation PS2'), but had response, handling, feedback, and overall experience almost close to the real thing already. Btw, another advantage (or disadvantage, whichever you prefer) on having a cockpit view would probably be the fact that we'll finally be forced to figure out the best line through a driver's point of view instead of a car bumper's, which will make things more difficult but also more realistic. But now that I think about it.... A detailed cockpit view like that plus having all the cars from GT4 with additional cars would definitely mean that almost every car will have their own cockpit view model. Then add the 'supposedly' massive improvement in graphics and visuals to that.......well.....I know the PS3 can handle alot more compared to last gen consoles but I sure hope PD wont get too ahead of themselves again and screw up the handling like they did with GT4. somehow i doubt that this will be true, considering a lot of the cars are just different specification models of each other. i mean, GT4 had 48 Nissan Skylines in it; considering there would be probably only one interior for the stock trim versions, and the one for the race versions, that only makes for two interiors for all 48 versions. somehow i see the developers going down this path. i hope for the GT fans that it isnt true, but for some reason i can see them promising too much in their game and then having to cut corners on stuff like this hoping people wont notice. i mean, look at the GT sound model.

would that really matter? i mean, honestly, other than different color fabric and maybe an extra badge or two, do you really think skyline GTR R34 is going to have a different interior than a skyline GTR R34 v-spec, etc? if the only differences between the car are exterior aethetics and unseen mechanics, does using the same interior model make any difference? (hint: the outside of the cars (like all the R34s) all use the same model too)

oh no, theres nothing wrong with it. i just wanted to dismiss it before people start to think that every single car included in GT5 will be absolutely unique to their counterpart models. i didnt know that they used the same model for the exteriors, either.

ehehehe...that's why I said "almost every car".
I'm pretty sure different versions of a certain model would barely be different from one another most of the time.

Which is also why people would end up blowing money on getting a good projection screen, because the closer you are to the display the closer you are to the actual dash of the car and the more realistic it'll feel... and then the world implodes. Well not really. But as cool as a cockpit view might be, one that's back behind the wheel still doesn't quite do it. One looking just over the dash... that's the ticket. Then you can have your DFP and use it, too.

its quite possible that something like that also came through their mind but I guess they'd rather show off by doing a behind-the-wheel camera and have the player look behind him through actual side mirrors and a back mirror rather than use the good ol fashion picture-in-picture stuck on top of your screen. Although yeah, the cockpit view they did is kinda awkward cuz it's too far, considering the fact that the person is supposedly at quite abit of distance from the TV. It makes it look like they're forcing the player to stick his face infront of the TV.

erm... am i meant to be impressed? lol. granted, it DID looked good, but not THAT good. and by that i mean, not good enough graphically to completely blow Forza away, which im pretty sure most of you are hoping it does... i liked their in-car though, looked very nice. and GT always has those great replay cameras, too. still, it wasnt enough to completely change my mind. to me, the deciding factor between the two games at this point will be how well GT5 plays and handles. because right now, you can barely tell the difference between the two as far as the two look. better keep working PD! Where's the gameplay footage? Good job Polyphonic Digital, you can render movies. That doesn't prove anything. Show us actual gameplay and maybe I'll be impressed. |

well to be honest, forza 2 looks like crap anyway. it looks almost as bad as PGR3, the jag-fest of a launch title. take a look at DiRT and you will see unbelievable beauty. i play it in 50" 720p, and its mistakable for real life at times... i'm really shocked at how good this game looks. hopefully GT5 won't be plauged by those horrible interlacing issues that 4 had.
