don't you just hate it when your internet gets cut off for a few days and you call technical support to find out what the hell happened and they tell you that you went over the limit (limit is 20 gigs..I was up at 91 gigs lol)

stupid shaw..heh...they didn't say what the bandwidth limit was so I just kept downloading my anime..oh well.

Shaw does suck... I lost my connection 2 days ago and only the test light was on the modem and the PC and Cable lights were off. Turns out the stupid POS modem died... I had to wait for 40 minutes on the phone to talk to someone from shaw mad.gif

I went and got a new modem today, and I have it working now. My connection is still really choppy sometimes though mad.gif

I dont think it would work sad.gif

There was one case on the new, where this kid was on the internet, and he said that he was "searching for planes to download to his Flight Simulator game" and he 'accidently' downloaded a porn dialer, and it cost him like $9000.

For those of you who dont know what a dailer is, its a program that hijacks your dial up connection and redirects it to some foreign location, like The Democratic Republic of Congo, and then charges you a super high fee.

Anyway, telstra would not give these peoples money back, but the went on A Current Affair, or Today Tonight or one of those 'complaining people' shows, and they ended up paying.

but telstra is one of those organisations without much ethics, much more so since being partly privatised. sometimes it takes current affair programs to get justice done. like recently the icecream business Streets had phone number misprints on signs that would go on their freezer machines for businesses & they wouldn't fix it. so some poor plumber kept on getting callers wanting their freezer machine fixed & he has to pay for the calls people make to him plus all the lost time answering those calls & streets wouldn't imburse him the costs or fix the problem. not until Today Tonight stepped in.

ermm, i meant you could use the trojan horse thing as an excuse & maybe you could get out of the excess downloading charge.

Lucky you did'nt have to pay extra, I know someone who had to pay 4500$ extra because he blew the bandwith limit, but ofcourse he never paid that, he just canceled the connection and said a big Fack you to them.
