So I have been busy as of late working on many things. And I see that there are new anime out. I am an Anime fan like most of you. I just..feel like I've seen what "I need too see". Kind of.

My point.
Is there anything out there that I HAVE TO, watch? Like for instance. Three I'd recommend to anyone off the top of my head.

Eden of the East, Bebop and Trigun. Not the greatest. But all Very worthy choices I'd say.

I think the Newest Anime I've seen an episode of to date was..Bakuman? Liked the first episode but wasn't compelled to continue. (mostly because I was part of dubbing a version and got sick of it).
Anyways yeah. Ideas? Opinions?

That 'Outlaw Star' isn't in there with Bebop and Trigun is a sin you need to correct immediately.

Things that should be on anyone's 'need' list (in addition to Outlaw Star as mentioned above):

-Akira (at least once)
-Ghost in the Shell (at least once)
-REDLINE (you're on an Initial D forum, therefore this is a MUST)
-Evangelion (though I will forgive anyone if they intend to wait until Rebuild 4.0 is out and then just watch the four new movies in a row rather than the original series + End of Evangelion)
-Gundam Wing (if you've never seen a Gundam series before it's a good start)
-Macross Plus the Movie (if you've never seen a Macross before it's a good start)
-Cromartie High School (pure comedy gold)
-Summer Wars
-The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (if you enjoyed Summer Wars you'll enjoy this one too)
-Anything by Hayao Miyazaki (at least one at least once)
-Gurren Lagann (if you're into action series it's hard to top)
-ToraDora (if you want a romance series this is my go-to)

That's it for a 'need' list. As for personal bias recommendations that I don't consider universal enough to be on everyone's need list, here's my personal suggestions for shows to check out:

-Steins;Gate
-Puella Magi Madoka Magica
-Angel Beats!
-Mirai Nikki
-Bakemonogatari + Nisemonogatari + Nekomonogatari +...
-Toaru Majutsu no Index + Toaru Majutsu no Index II (+ Toaru Kagaku no Railgun)

I'm sure there are others who could help you out. The problem with the current season is that it only just started and nothing's really jumped out as being superb to me yet. Plus there are sequels and stuff going on that would require you seeing the original, so there's that too.

hah It was just a quick-list. Nothing in depth.
I've seen everything by Haiyo Miyazaki my friend. biggrin.gif

Of course I've seen Akira. That'd be the true crime.

Everything else I've either seen already, or have started and not finished.
I meant more new stuff that's good. Though I think I'll try the ones I haven't already heard of that you put down there. Now the only chore will be finding the time.

Thanks!
Other opinions are still welcome of course.

I don't know much about new animes, cos usually they bore me after a few episodes. There are a few exceptions, of course. Among the newer ones I've completed is Btoom! It's quite entertaining. And Jojo's Adventures. Even if you're watching it just for Dio. awesome.gif
Recently I finished a series called One Outs. Nothing new, but I liked it a lot. Weird, considering its about baseball and I knew next to nothing about it. Nobody talks about baseball in our country.
Most of the series I like are the older ones. Just yesterday I re-watched Togainu no Chi; it was adapted from a BL game, but don't worry its practically non-existent in the anime. I just happen to have a fetish for katana-wielding evil drug lord badasses.
From Nomake's list, I would definitely recommend Mirai Nikki and Summer Wars. Mirai, just because I like all the crazy bloodthirsty psychopaths in it. Even when I feel like strangling the male lead every second into the story.
I hope I don't give away too much. Just watch them, it will be entertaining.

I do not keep up with or watch a lot of new anime at all, but the latest anime I've probably seen besides ID:stage5 biggrin.gif is "Speed Grapher" which is a super short series. I enjoyed it okay. It's pretty raunchy at times but nothing too extreme IMO.

Also I own all the DVDs so I actually started over with the series. For more reasons though..

I appreciate it a lot. The recommendations and stuff. I definitely will find time between all my Initaldabridge nonsense to catch up on some anime. And I will try and tell you what I thought about your recommendation. That is assuming you give a rats ass what I thought about your recommendation. I'll tell ya anyway.

ALSO: Thanks for not recommending the following- Deadman wonderland, Cassern Sins, Guilty Crown<- Not that I heard it's bad. I just heard too much about it that it bugs me now tongue.gif), Shinryaku Ika Musume (squid girl thing), and Anything Bleach related..

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not here. Deadman Wonderland was great (though I did kinda wish the OVA had done a little more) as was Ikamusume. Guilty Crown was great up to the first half (I haven't seen the second half yet but people tell me it was shit and the first half ended with, well, an ending. Then again people said Gundam SEED and AGE were shit and I enjoyed those so people tend to have shitty opinions. I'll watch the second half and decide for myself whether it's decent or Death Note level retarded). Bleach and Casshern Sins I haven't seen so I can't say anything about those.

If you don't like Ikamusume you must hate fun not be interested in Nichijou either. Which is fine I guess but why do you hate fun?

Also dammit Al, I was thinking of recommending Boku no Pico but... I held back... laugh2.gif

It really depends on what genre that you commonly watch. I'm guessing you're into action and the such. I personally like shows that make you think, so Evangelion, Eden of the East, MuShiShi... etc etc. But I also love action so I've been getting into the different Gundam series (I'm planning to blow so much money on the gunpla of my favorite models. Watch out for that, it's a money sink I'm telling you) Tiger&Bunny, FullMetal Alchemist and YuYu Hakusho. I also kinda like the older stuff better since... I don't know... I just like old stuff, makes me think of the times when I was a kid.

I avoid dramas, and slice of life type anime for some unknown reason though. Just my personal taste.

I didn't say I didn't like them. I said thank you for not recommending them.
Mostly because they're common and I've already seen enough of them. And want something new to watch.

QUOTE

Different than your own? Yes.
I wouldn't say someone's opinion is shitty just because...well actually..let me think. If someone hated Akira,Bebop, fmab, and Eden. But loved Naruto Bleach, Inuyasha, and -Insert Slice of Life here- Then they might have a shitty opinion....just might. hahah So you have a point lol

Crossed out font.

It's funny because I really love Mushi shi and Eden. have them both on Bluray in fact. As well as the Evangelion Movie 1.11. I love action as well though. I really don't have a huge preference. Just whatever draws my attention and makes me want to keep watching.
So far your list/overall opinion is the one I can relate to the most.

I was more referring to the overall opinions I run into. Overall, there's a whole lot of 'Gundam SEED sucks' and 'Gundam AGE was terrible' and things like that. Yet having seen both of those I found them to be fine. So going with what a majority says doesn't always work out. That's all I meant by 'people have shitty opinions'. 'People' is referring to the majority of a vocal populace. Make sense?

As for not recommending, I'm with Honda on that one--I didn't recommend them because I wasn't sure what you wanted, but I would have recommended Ikamusume and Nichijou had you said you wanted 'something light-hearted without erotic jokes every five seconds that could make me laugh'. Same, if you said you wanted hardcore action stuff with good animation I'd probably have suggested stuff like Ao no Exorcist and Deadman Wonderland. happy.gif

Oh man! I've never really found anyone with similar likes to mine. How very odd! This is really cool though, I'll also add in Fate Zero/Stay Night to my list of things that you might be interested in. Those two were pretty good on their own, as this is coming from someone who has yet to play the VNs.

Except that with Fate/Zero out that's a more worthwhile watch. Heck, watch Fate/Zero then watch the Fate/Stay Night movie instead. cool.gif

Fate/Stay Night had a movie? Or are you talking about Unlimited Blade Works? Either way, the movie was ok but I felt it made more sense after watching the Stay Night series. But if I had to pick just ONE to watch. Fate/Zero. At least I had feels for that one and Rider was pretty cool. Also Suit Saber is wayyyyy more badass than normal Saber. Although normal Saber is still badass.

Fate/Zero was awesome (I mean, it didn't just have scenery porn, the whole thing was visual porn in general!) but it seemed to leave a lot to be desired in the second half. It had a dominating atmosphere of seriousness that both helped and took away from my enjoyment of the series. Fate/Stay Night on the other hand was a lot more lighthearted in style, plus the overall mood and story development was a bit more enjoyable for me.

Hmm... one that I got into was BECK (aka Mongolian Chop Squad). Their live action is alright too, but they never have the main character actually sing... which was a major downer for me. Aside from that, it got me to listen to a whole new group of music such as Goofy's Holiday which is a very, very, very good group.

Yes, odd indeed ha. Well I'm going to take advantage of this 3-day weekend and watch some-o-these recommendations. Starting with Fate Zero/Stay Night. Looking forward to seeing something amusing. It's been a while honestly.

I'd like to recommend a movie I just watched recently- Ninja Scrolls. It's old, but awesome (sorry, I'm a sucker for anything made by Madhouse). tongue.gif
Although whenever we're talking about Kouga ninjas, my mind immediately thinks of Basilisk. It's one of my favourites until now- great plot, great characters, great animation quality.

Oh I totally forgot to mention Darker Than Black, and Baccano! are really good action series if you want to look into those. They're always on my rewatch list because they're pretty short and the dub is actually not that bad.

If you enjoy the jazz soundtracks, definitely watch Cowboy Bebop and Baccano! I would also like to recommend Kids On The Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon), the strength of that series being the music by Yoko Kanno, who did the music for Cowboy Bebop.

And if you like some weird, twisted anime, try Nazo no Kanojo X...

Shingetsutan Tsukihime for those who like vampires with a plot twist.

Some of these are within the last couple years.

i don't know if you heard about these already, and some of them are completed/bit old but i'll just put it in...

- Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (pretty good, mix of comedy and action... )
- Sora no Otoshimono ( a bit of "fan service" but the comedy is pure gold, i can't stop laughing when i watch it)
- The Naruto's spin-off series, Rock Lee and His Ninja Pals/Springtime of Youth
- Eyeshield 21 (American Football FTW)
- Gintama (if you know and love Lucky Star, definitely you'll enjoy this one)
- As above, but if you havent watched Lucky Star, then you should do it (Initial D parody FTW lol)
- K-ON! (one of my lifetime favourite)

Lately i've been watching the good old Rurouni Kenshin, partly because i haven't finished it, but mostly because of the awesome live action movie that just come out last year
