yeah, lots of my friends though MGS is eraser..

Anyway, here's what I want in there..

A complete course guilde.. Like zooming into hairpins and details on how to tackle the hairpin and such... Of course give credits to the person who provide the detail...

For example : How to clear RHOD... First u like this... Then u like that... the fastest exit speed is ???...

I have more to think of, it's just that i am quite bz right now..

The only issue I see with this is that each car takes each corner of each course differently. There is no one way to describe it. Some cars need 2-3 erasers per turn, some need no eraser, some exit fast, some exit slow, etc...

Unless you just wanted a guide for the course kings, there really is no way to do this outside of writing 35 guides per course. 8 maps X 2 directions X 2 conditions X 35 cars = waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much work.

My request: put my teams website back on the team page dry.gif

that would be cool except things happen/get discovered that often.

like, we had an explosion of new techs when v3 came out, after that there hasn't been really anything new.

But I have a feeling that I am interpreting this wrong, is that what you meant?

Posted by: Shiro Mar 19 2006, 09:24 PM
Yeh kinda, cause maybe just add some stuff that's really basic but like people don't realise. That's what makes it so interesting or maybe uhh, wait that's all I can think of atm. Oh yeh random stuff lol just to make the site look better even. =D

Did you know...? Extra is 28 years old
Did you know...? Jobo is black (XDDDDDDDDDD)

Thats what I interpretted it as... just like random shit like that.

But I don't watch the anime so yeh lol.

The 'Jobo is black' was kinda an "in" joke. Jobo isn't from the anime, hes one of the best players in Canada XD

Oh the anime sentence was seperate as in uh...I don't know how to say it in words lol. Anyway another suggestion would be to put that paypal for donation thing for your own benefit and as usual to make the site have more icons etc. =P

Yeah, I am sorry about that thing I requested.. Didn't realise..

I seriously agree about the TST thing..

I dun think the gutter explaination is deep enough..

What about the tune parts for each of the cars? How to gain racer level, battle level and such? I am really not good at this.. mad.gif

Hi guys,

First of all, I'd just like to say what a great job razorsuKe has done with the site; it's fascinating to hear about the time attack battles across the territories and keep up with all things Initial D related. smile.gif As a suggestion, I'd like to see a section on etiquette when playing in VS mode. I've only recently started playing (although I've been playing single player for about 4/5 years), but I'm wondering if there's some kind of protocol I should be following? Myself, I always ask the other player what course they'd like to race on, and suggest that we race with boost off, and I also shake the other player's hand before and after the race - I think I'm far too polite! :-) Although the other day I beat a guy on Happogahara with my lights off and he seemed quite annoyed. ermm2.gif And watching a few VS battles on a recent trip to Japan I notice that players won't even make eye contact with each other! Well perhaps I'm just curious as to what other people do, and maybe there's no right or wrong way of playing, but I thought it might be amusing to hear about other player's habits. :-)

Hi there! I hope this isn't the wrong way of asking such a question or I'm posting in the wrong area.

Now, I read the description thoroughly in the initiald-arcade.com "Advanced Techniques" page. This is my understanding of it, but I don't think I've got it quite fully and I was hoping some of you experts out there might be able to explain it a bit differently.

Okay, first question! It says, "To shift up and then down". However, if you're at gear 5 and your car isn't a 6-speed transmission, how do you shift up? Aswell, I see in many videos that they shift down then up. Is this the proper way of the eraser?

Second question! It says to do it as early as possible before the corner, while feinting. Okay, so here's my understanding of the feint. It's a corner where you turn as little as possible, right? Trying to make the corner "less than it is"? As in, you go into the very inside of the apex, and then come out of the corner on the opposite side. Now, it says to eraser (as in, shift up/down) as early as possible. I watched a video of Akina DDH, and he did this about a second early. How does this work exactly? I've tried many times this technique, to shift (I do down then up) early, but I don't see the effect? Am I not feinting properly?

Thanks! I hope my questions are easy to understand.

That's asking quite a bit, especially when there's already an ENGLISH VERSION on the web. The pics are down but it's not like it matters.

http://initiald.sega.jp/english/ac_ver03/car.html

How did I find this? Well I used the internet's ultimate search function (y'know, GOOGLE) and searched "initial D game" and that was the first link I got.

And you can see the techniques in action through ANY of the videos on the Video Resources database on this forum.

Constant quotes/references to FF3:Tokyo Drift, not because I like it, but stictly because of the hilariousness of it.
"you ain't in control unless you outta control!"
that would be great for the TST

Posted by: icedagger Jul 29 2006, 04:54 PM
It might need a lot fo work, but in the long run I think it would really help if you had more in-depth guides on IDA.com (like the ones you see on GameFaqs, but based on information from posts on the forum. ).

There are several hundred posts in the Course and Car help thread, and it takes a lot of time to search through them all (even with the search function). It would be great to have all the data sorted out nicely and put on a website.

It would be a lot of hard work but in the end it would benefit everyone. As I see it, most questions are asked by newbies who don't read the pinned threads. With an in-depth guide, newbies won't ask that many questions as they can readily find it on the website.

You could even go and put a wiki on the site so you can get volunteers from the community to help maintain it.

My 2 cents.

Posted by: S-avi_drift Jul 29 2006, 05:18 PM
^ so what your sayin is have it like. car help thread= instead of manufactors the car in general . course help thread= all courses seperate? All for AS section of idforms?

Posted by: icedagger Jul 30 2006, 05:16 AM
Yeah, something organized like that, but in wiki format. The idea would be to present all the relevant stuff discussed in those threads in a website. The course help and car help threads should remain to serve as a place to discuss things, but the answers to the most commonly asked stuff would be posted on the Wiki. That way, you can just have noobs read through the wiki instead of telling them to search through a hundred or so pages of posts before asking their question.

Posted by: razorsuKe Aug 1 2006, 12:48 AM
I think that the page itself is proof that me and Perry are no strangers to hard work.

As for the specific course info, I was trying to figure out a good way to do it or even have people post their faqs up.
But this is a good idea, I will think of something.

Car faq wise, all that crap is bullshit.
People try to say this part does this, this tune is better for that, no. Simple answer is, people can believe what they want but there is no proof that one part does one thing or another.
How can you trust the guys who "test" the parts when they don't run consistent times in the first place? How can you trust them when they probably change one part, go for one run and make a judgement about it.
Worse yet, they could be coming into the arcade and have a part change the first run and claim they'll be able to feel something different after they change a part and go for a second run.
It's mostly the same shit, thats how I feel about it, I prefer people customizing their cars for looks rather than trying to make a car that everyone thinks is best anyways.

Until someone shows good reason to put that up, I will leave it off.

Posted by: CoastalmixX Aug 1 2006, 08:30 AM
^ Very true.

I randomly change parts/tune 50% of the time I get a part change or inspec. For the most part, I don't feel a difference. People can make a part change then beat their time the next run, but that doesn't exactly mean that that new part really made that run faster.

Hmm... The Dota All-Stars forum has a pretty good system for posting FAQs and guides.

Basically, they have 2 sub forums for guides. The first forum is a submission forum, and the second is a premium guide forum. To prevent spam, only mods should be able to start threads in the premium guide section.

So the basic process is:

1. Users create a guide, and post it in a thread in the submission forum.
2. Mods may opt to lock, or delete the thread if it doesn't meet quality standards. (Not really informative, poorly written, very incomplete, plagiarism etc.)
3. Other users can view the guide, and are free to constructively criticize it.
4. The creator of the guide can then improve his guide based on the feedback of other users.
5.Cycle between steps 2 to 4, Steadily improving the quality of the guide.
6. If a guide attains good quality (based on user feedback), the thread gets transferred by the mods to the premium guide sub forum.

Then all you'd have to do is to allow people visiting IDA.com to view the first post in each thread of the premium guide section.

sounds like good shit except I haven't seen much activity with people writing guides or faqs for ID, for a while.

but it seems like something to try none the less.

Give a shout to Perry, he manages the forum stuff.

Posted by: Stanli Sep 19 2006, 06:55 PM
I know this is very ambitious but...

Seriously, a car FAQ. I guess maybe not what you mentioned, different parts being bullshit and whatnot. But I guess an overall feel guide, like "This car gets a 7/10 in driftiness, and consequently, a 3/10 in grippiness. It accelerates pretty bad, 3/10, etc." It would make car selection a lot easier.

And if you just wanted to, car pics. Basically what the official Initial D site has, except in all colors. I seriously sometimes can't decide just because a color is so distracting.

Anyway, just my input.

Posted by: 207 Sep 19 2006, 07:44 PM
try the version 2 site, you can change colours there for all pics of a certain car ( http://initiald.sega.jp/ac_ver3/car/index.html ), car faqs are out there on the net too

Posted by: Stanli Sep 19 2006, 07:57 PM
Hmm. Well the color-changer would be more useful if the angles on the cars were better. And as for the rotating models showing the different courses, it would be awesome if it could show different colors there too. The coolest thing would be one of those 360 views where it's really 360 degrees and you can drag it and look at different angles, instead of having 8 different angles.

Ok sorry for that. But with that said, that link was pretty cool. Thanks a lot!

i wish that the site could provide provide the pros and cons of all the cars in IDAS.

I think we need a list of the "exclusive and permanent" car parts, their upsides, and their downsides. For example, I didn't know about the Trueno's exclusive A-course engine. If I had a Trueno and was already past 120,000 points using another tune, I wouldn't know what to do.

This would help so that no one would miss any opportunities. Then after people are aware, they can make the decisions for themselves.

i know this is a crap analogy but when i used to play ns (natural selection, a half life mod), "bunny hopping" is an important part because you can be a melee character...basically its about jumping from side to side and somehow, the physics of the half-life engine will accelerate you. i learned this by watching a video which shows you the motion of the mouse.
but yeah, i was wondering for example if there was a video which would teach you to tst

Some learn from reading, some learn from watching... Some need both!

I would like to see a section that had the course maps with the checkpoint marked on them, and also maybe a good general line on the courses, kinda like how after you TA and keisuke pops up and it has the line you took where you braked and such

well yeah i know about that, eh i guess ill just use my brain, but what i also forgot to mention was something of the sort to where we could post a tournament or a sparing session instead of posting about it and hoping your "targeted audieance" reads it.
I remember seeing something on another website i believe that had a little sheet to fill out if you were going to start a tournament that included details such as location, price to get in, price per play, how the elimnations would take place, and so on, and then that would be posted in a special tournament section.
Oh and maybe you could create an something similar to an ad for DamienWolf's CUB program its a really good idea and im sure more people would be interested in it if they knew about it

A list of locations that have the game (contributed by the users, of course! I don't think that you want to drive around hte country just to find arcades with Initial D) and what version it is

Posted by: feint_se3p Mar 23 2007, 01:45 PM
Theres already a thread that has them https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=12556&hl=locations

well aside from the fact that some members are hesitant to put such info on their profiles, there are security risks involved with publicizing such info on the net... i guess it won't hurt to simply PM the people you want to add to your list...

*post #... "devil's number" XD*

Posted by: BDDEE@ May 15 2007, 05:45 AM
i dont think there is any
the only one like that is the one on the wheel jerk technique which excel made then at the end it said he was gona make one on eraser but he didnt

Posted by: icedagger May 15 2007, 06:32 AM
You don't really need a video for TST. Once you get to the point where you actually need it, you don't need a special instructional video to learn it. Simply watching a normal run should suffice.

Anyway misterxji, maybe you should have a look at this thread:

https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=25798

Hope this helps biggrin.gif

well i've just been noticing, but it seems that alot of people are making new posts and threads about some certain course, or a certain turn or part of a course that they are having trouble on. and since the forums have a "CAR HELP THREAD" in the questions and and answers sections, why not a "COURSE HELP THREAD"?

would save alot of space IMO instead of new posts being made from every individual having trouble with their particular course.

Posted by: icedagger May 27 2007, 03:52 PM
There is a Course help thread... But it's called: Help me with this course! Noobs click!

Renaming it might be a good idea though.

oh! didnt see that!!!! lol..but yea maybe renaming it migh thelp cuhz it seems the "clueless" people dont seem to use that thread, they just keep making new posts and its clogging up the questions and answers portion i think.

The Q&A forum is made just for noobs to ask their dumb repetitive questions.

So because that is what its there for, we don't lock any threads in there and let people ask all they want.
