In episode 3 of Fifth Stage, near the end of Takumi's race with Satoshi, the left support of the wing on Satoshi's car breaks off the Miata causing the car to spin. Would this be the outcome of an event like this in real life?

If the car produces enough front downforce, then it will spin when the rear wing breaks because of the imbalance of front to rear grip.

On a road car, even like the Miata with a fairly simple bodykit and at touge speeds, I doubt the same scenario would cause such a dramatic spin. You can see this in real life, people remove the rear wings from Evos and WRXs and they drive just fine on motorway speeds.

Initial D tries to ground a lot of things in reality but like with any movie/anime, they tend to exaggerate a bit.

I don't think that a good spoiler could fly out, but a cheap 10$ spoiler would for sure smile.gif

The outcome of an event like the one described in "Fifth Stage" episode 3 would largely depend on various factors, including the speed, trajectory, and specific design of the cars involved, as well as the structural integrity of the wing and its attachment to the vehicle. While the loss of a wing support could potentially affect the aerodynamics and stability of a car, causing it to spin, it is difficult to make a definitive statement without more specific information about the fictional scenario and the real-life cars involved. It's worth noting that in real-world racing, vehicles undergo rigorous testing and safety measures to minimize the likelihood of such incidents.
