I'm pretty sure we're all aware that the GT6 demo have been released already. So how about we have some fun and post our times?

I'll start it off. I currently have done a 2:19.634 as my best time with a Logitech G27 steering wheel.

There's definitely a lot of improvement that could be done but I'm to say that I'm happy to make it into the top 200 and having a time .2xx milliseconds more than the last year's winner of the GT Academy Racer X competition. smile.gif

I am very unfamiliar with Silverstone, unfortunately. That has led to much frustration to pull off a competitive time that's still clean.

I'm gonna give it another go and see if I can improve upon my time, but my current record is 2:24.792 and rockin' the DS3.

I currently have 2'20.2XX with a G25

The time have been made with active steering being off. I heard that turning it to strong greatly increase the turning speed. I will try again to see how it will turn out.

That's pretty good Thrasher considering that you're using a DS3. I don't think I could do that since I'm so accustomed to the travel length of the brake pedal on the G27 pedals.

For the active steering off, I don't know about that since I have mine currently off at all times. Well to be honest, what exactly is it for??

As for my current time right now, I've finally done a 2:18.952. Finally happy to reach the top 100 but now I feel like I'm really stuck to where I really, really need to push myself in exiting the corners faster without having me to lose traction and to countersteer. Which is my biggest issue right now and have always been. I would look at the top 10 replays but eh, I don't know, I feel like I wouldn't learn anything If I follow someone Else's tactics. So I'll stick with figuring out the ins and outs of the corners myself. crying2.gif

I noticed on the replay of the top time they kind of oversteer during the tight corner while lifting. Those place I usually heavily understeer which is odd.

I currently have 1'19.5**

I just hold the brake longer & downshift like an idiot during cornering to improve my time. Taking account of the elevation & change my line also improved my time. It's more realistic than GT5 for sure.

I should try out automatic to see where is the shifting point. Maybe I'm losing time because I shift too late. I admit I suck more than what I was before so I'm kind of frustrated of my own skill.

Active steering didn't change much the time, but added traction control actually did change a bit my time. Less scared to step on it, at 5 it seem decent.

I just can't get the hang of Silverstone at all. I got my time down to 2'23.4xx with the DS3 controller. Had to ignore some of the downshift markers and lines to even get where I'm at. Certain corners you can take in 2nd and 4th gear even though it says you need to downshift to 1st or 3rd. Also, the line for the course really screws me up in the S curves section. I don't get how you can follow that line after the last corner of the S curves. The line shows it sticking to the middle of the track after the corner, but I'm always going wide towards the rumble strips on the left side of the track.

I'm going to try and mess with the settings some more and try and get it down to 2'22 or a high 2'21.

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one having trouble, but it's also nice to see that people are finding ways to overcome it as well.

I haven't tried active steering, and I NEVER run with traction control, however I might do a run or two with those enabled and see if it helps me any. The Club corners at toward the end like being a pain in my neck, even more so than Stowe.

I know I won't be able to get anywhere near the top 100. I knew that was a given before I started. My main motivation for improving my time would be to top my friends. Right now, aside from one guy who is kinda new to the game, I am dead-last among my friends. But of course, I'm glad that I've at least golded this event. I like the free stuff you get in-game for participating in things like this.

I applaud to you guys for those that can gold the events with a DS3. I could never think how you guys can decipher on inputting the proper amount on the brakes.

Well I think this is it for me. I'm stuck at 2:18.952 and I just can't seem to get any lower. It's been a couple days since I've had this same time but I guess it's my slow reflexes on hitting the apexes with the right speed and angle is driving me nuts.

But I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who's having problems with the turn Maggots, Becketts and Chapel. The perfect weight transferring that the top players do during these corners is insane.

And yeah, I never run with the aids. All aids off except ABS on 1.

I was at 70 when I did this time but now I have been pushed all the way back up to the 100's. crying2.gif

Oh and I have a question for the wheel users, do you guys left-foot brake?

Stowe is actually one of my better corners on that track. My worst is probably Copse. I'm so inconsistent with that corner. I should probably just turn off the racing line assist. I've never used it in past GT games, but this game is so different that I've been using it to try to learn the course, but I'm at the point where I should just be going by my own instincts now.

Yeah, I would definitely turn off the racing line. It definitely shows the 'safest' racing line but not the fastest. But there is definitely nothing wrong with using the racing line. It's just you should turn it off when you think you're comfortable enough that you can start being judgmental in your braking points.

Or if you guys need to, here's a good in-depth guide on the best or I should say preferred ways on tackling the corners.

I agree about Copse, that corner is just unpredictable but whenever I do kick Copse's ass, I screw up on Maggots. ermm2.gif

Finally! I did a 2:18.441 placing in 54th today! I have no life...
