Introduction
Three weeks ago, I briefly talked about, in takumi333's Super Eurobeat in FLAC, a thread to complete SEB in FLAC thread, of another Eurobeat project: Scanning. That's a huge undertaking because hardly anybody has a scanner. So, how big the scanning catalog will be will also reflect how much people are willing to invest time, effort and money into it. A lot of eurobeat archivist out there are reluctant to rip Eurobeat CDs they own for various reasons but I believe that scanning is another story: they rarely, if ever, get brought down for copyright or is subject to copyright debates.

That's why I believe this project will concern a more wider eurobeat audience.

I'm afraid I have a head start on you Lebon...

takumi333s SEB Completion Project
Objectives
-to attain physical copies of the target ranges below with the intention to have both PERFECT FLAC RIPS and 600dpi PNG SCANS of all included volumes.

Target Ranges
The Best of Super Eurobeat 1991-2005
SEB 1-120

here's my progress so far:
SPOILER

This of course is only one of the many Eurobeat/Techno CD series completion projects I am working on or have already completed. Here's a sneak peek at some more:
-Eurobeat Box COMPLETE
did you know? Eurobeat Destiny Vol. 1 was a mix of this series
-Best Disco PENDING
future Eurobeat Destiny volumes once the series is complete
-Non-Stop Best Disco PENDING
a Non-stop mix series of the series above
-Maharaja Night COMPLETE
-Maharaja Night - House Revolution COMPLETE
-Juliana's Tokyo COMPLETE
The original series is complete, I don't recognize the newer releases as shown on Discogs.
-m.o.v.e. 99% COMPLETE DISCOGRAPHY
I just need anim.o.v.e best to be complete, never bothered to buy it.
-████████████████COMPLETE
-████████████████COMPLETE
-████████████████PENDING
one volume left
-████████████████PENDING
one volume left
sorry, these are under wraps until I come out with the mix series of them.

@xiao People don't share because they don't agree with piracy.

The thing about 600ppp is that, even with JPG, they are HUGE files, even in JPG. I personally keep a 400ppp BMP copy compressed in a RAR5 archive.

@takumi333 That's good then! You cover stuff that I won't cover. Well, won't... at least for a very long time. My SEB range is 170-today. So, there's still 121-169 to fill. So, if you want, you could upload the scans separately for people that doesn't give a fuck about FLAC and I'll put them in the first post.

400ppp as a minimum means that we can OCR it reliably along with good printing potential. Imo, a sweet middleground between quality and resolution.

Nope. I don't want my work (or others for that matter) to be lost in a sea of other unrelated works. This page is for Eurobeat and Eurobeat only for Eurobeat-fans. On top of that, everything will be downloadable from Mega.

I've tried using this before and... it's not my cup of tea. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Do not upload the scans to Mega
https://twitter.com/KimDotcom/status/722942842193055745

There has been a battle of words between the two. Who is right? We really don't know. Only time will tell. As for now, MEGA is the most reliable and fastest place to upload and downloads. So, yeah.

If I wasn't clear enough, I was aware of that story.

I'd like to contribute some scans when I have the time.

I could contribute the scans of SEB 144, 148, 159, 165, 168*, 181, 183, 185*, 189, 190*, 202, 203, 205 - 209, 211, 212, 214 - 216, 220, 222 - current SEB. (I've got many more but subtracted the SEBs from your future scans.)
*currently shipping
I also have Best of SEB 2008-2015, Super Euro X'mas and Gazen!! Para Para presents D-1 Grand Prix.

At the rate that I've been scanning I should finish everything I have within 4-6 weeks (and allowing time for the remaining volumes that have shipped) so I will wait until everything is scanned and upload the whole lot at once which will look like this:

The Best of SEB 1991-2005 COMPLETE
SEB Vol. 1-121 COMPLETE
130, 137, 140, 143, 146, 150, 168, 194, 202, 228, 234

Keep in mind that it will probably be at least 150gb so dig out some hard drive space!

Awesome guys! Please note that the project prefers color accuracy! Be sure to setup your scanner driver accordingly.

@KiraTM: I was planning to collect all SEBs from 170 to today, while skipping 204-220 to finish 221-today first then coming back at a lower priority for 2014-220 later. So, if you come before me, I might not even need to unseal my CDs tongue.gif

@takumi333: We already have SEB 234, btw. At least Kirza has it I believe. I know I do (and they are not mine although I do have SEB 234 personally).

Now, I need to spend some time on Discogs then, finish my DDL of my 2015 mix THEN, I'll be uploading my older scans here.

377MB, Jesus Christ. It's half of the compilation's size in FLAC. Anyway, added to the first post.

The biggest one so far is SEB 80 which is 802MB but 30% of the scans were of all the fucking inserts! The worst part is the gold background on the back cover makes it impossible to read the text.

Recently presented the scanner, I will soon go on holiday. To do nothing would be too much and try to rescan all the normal cover with my personal cd.

That might actually be salvageable. Try taking multiple scans of that cover and then see if you can put together a super resolution image out of those.

You could probably tweak this for GIMP too if you're like me and use that.

I won't guarantee it'll make a huge difference, but it could be worth a shot.

2.1 If the item does not fit on the platter of a scanner, then, exceptionally, the item can be photographed.

I recommend Image Composite Editor for large fold outs that are too big to fit on a typical scanner.

I take 4 scans per side lining up each corner against the scanner but once all the scans are done I just use ICE and it merges them together into one large image. Just make sure all of the scans are straight and tight against the edge.

Note that this can also be used to scan vinyl covers too!

that's fine you can scan it, I won't be getting them for a month anyways. I just mentioned those two in case they weren't to be scanned by anyone else.
