Okay, well I haz some good news, gais.

I'll be updating BOTH of my fics with more rapid updates (1 week at the latest), and we have a new chapter!

Chapter 10: 5 Years Ago… (Keisuke: WHEN’LL WE GET TO THE RACE! GAWD!)

It was around 12:00 AM on Mt. Hakone outside of Tokyo. Coming down the pass at an amazing speed was a white FC3S, followed by a black SW20 MR2. They headed into a wide right-hander and began to initiate drift. The two cars’ brake lights trailed into the night, showing the path of both sports cars. As they reached the apex, the cars both backfired, with the SW20 using its misfiring system with frightening machinegun explosions. Coming out of the turn, however, the gap between the two was reduced. There was only one turn left.

The first to begin its attack was the SW20. It rocketed to the inside with the FC taking the outside. It might’ve seemed that the FC was done for in this turn, but this young driver had advanced so well that he was able to hold the Toyota off. A young man hit his stopwatch as the two flew across the line at extremely high speeds in parallel drift.

“Washu-sensei!” the man said over the walkie-talkie, “It’s a new record! Both beat their own personal best by five seconds, but the track record’s been smashed by three seconds!” The crowd was ecstatic; it was the best race on Hakone in years. Even the driver of the infamous Blackbird was astounded. “Wow,” Tatsuya said to his tuner, Kitami Jun, “And these cars were tuned by your sensei, you say?” The old man with a scar just nodded his head in agreement. “She knows things that no other human being should,” Kitami replied, “Compared to me, I’m just a hobbyist working on making you kids go faster on the Wangan. But tell ya what, that Takahashi kid’s gonna be big someday.” “Takahashi?” Tatsuya asked, boggled by this statement.

Out of the white Mazda stepped a young awkward and nerdy boy in hospital scrubs. “And he still is in those scrubs,” Tatsuya said, “Heh, that’s just super-klutz Ryousuke Takahashi for ya.” “So ya know him, huh?” Jun replied, chuckling, “Your 700 horsepower 911 turbo wouldn’t last a second against his FC out her in Hakone. Sure, on the Wangan you’re Blackbird, but out here, you’re more like a pigeon.” “Feh,” Blackbird said, “That doesn’t matter, however. Let’s meet this super-tuner, Washu.”

Out of the black SW20, stepped a beautiful young woman. Her long hair was put up into a ponytail, and she was dressed casually in a pair of blue jeans and a low-cut t-shirt. “Aeka-chan!” A young man said, “I can’t believe you broke your own record by five seconds!” “It was nothing, Lord Tenchi!” Aeka said, “It was all for you!” “Uh,” Tenchi said, scratching his head, “Okay…” “Where’s Ryoko? I’d love to see the look on her face when she finds out I smashed her record by three seconds!” “She hit the Wangan line in her Supra,” Tenchi said, “She said she’d just come back tomorrow night and beat Ryousuke-san.” “That arrogant peon!” Aeka yelled, “She’s gonna gat herself in big trouble saying things like that!”

Out on Tokyo’s famous Wangan expressway, however, a young woman driving a Mark III Supra sneezed, almost sending her into a semi. “f**k, that was close!” She said, recovering and getting back up to speed, “Man, Aeka had her race tonight. She probably lost to Ryousuke-san, that dumb b*tch!” The woman was another pretty young girl with wild blue hair, and bright yellow eyes; the eyes of a hungry wolf searching for some prey. In front of her, she saw the tail lamps of a small and old Nissan sports car. “It’s him,” She said, “Time for Ryoko-chan to shine!” Ryoko flashed her high-beams, and the blue car took off. She then mashed down on the throttle, opening up the engine’s throttle body, spewing gobs of fuel into the massive Mark IV-donor 2JZ striaght six. The fuel went into the cylinders, where it met the high-compression air delivered from the twin-turbo setup. They exploded at full compress, giving the car its signature 750-horsepower shove to its driver.

The car she was chasing was the single most coveted victory in any racer’s book. The driver was named Akio Asakura, but the car was the infamous Devil Z. It’s 2.8 liter straight six that seemed like ancient technology, erupted into a 600-horsepower Godzilla of a racing engine. “It’s you again, huh?” He thought, “Well, bring it, Ryoko-chan.” They flew down the Wangan, seemingly forever into the night.

That next night, however, Ryoko was in more of a touge mood. She brought her Supra up to the top of Hakone-touge, and waited for the man who held the course record. That man was now Ryousuke Takahashi. The galleries were packed, and ready for a show. AS soon as Ryousuke showed up, the race began. It kept running furiously down and up the mountain until the third downhill run, in which disaster struck.

The fatigue was waning on the drivers; Ryousuke was sweating profusely. They both had already busted through the course record twice; the first by two seconds, the second by three. “This is nuts,” Ryousuke said, slamming on the brakes, “I just hope she gets too wild and spins out.” As they headed down the mountain, Ryousuke got just what the doctor ordered. At the Mt. Fuji overlook, Ryoko attempted to overtake Ryousuke. When she slammed on the brakes, however, the fade set in. She went too fast, and flew over the guardrail. The Mark III flew five hundred feet down into the valley, exploding on impact. Ryousuke stopped at the spot where it ran through. “RYOKO!!” HE yelled, worried for his opponent. “I’m fine, you asshole!” she yelled, getting out of the wreck all charred up, “Don’t you know me better than that?” With that, however, came a white Evo II pulling up with a displeased driver/mother, ready to kill her daughter.

“Oh, Ryoko?” Washu said, getting out of her Evo II chase car, looking as unhappy as ever. “What?” Ryoko said, looking into her mother’s face. “That’s gonna cost you!” Washu yelled, grabbing Ryoko by the ear and dragging her into the Evo. “But whyyyyyyyyyy, mom?” she exclaimed. “Because!” Washu said, “You wrecked the best car I made so far! Mark my words, girl! I made you, and I can easily unmake you!” “Sorry, mom…” Ryoko said, awkwardly. Ryousuke then looked as the Evo II went into the distance. “Look at this,” Tenchi said, looking at the stopwatch, “If she didn’t go Air Jordan over the cliff, she’d beaten the record by twelve seconds.” “Shit,” Ryousuke, “Those two are something.”

UPDAET FOR ALL OF U!

Chapter 11: Onto Teh Race!

“And that’s what happened,” Ryousuke said as they sped down the mountain. He, however, was only talking to himself; Takumi was having a hard time keeping up with the girls, and Keisuke was in the backseat crying and holding onto the seatbelt in fear. “NOBODY CARES, ANIKI!” Keisuke said, “WE’RE IN A DAMNED RACE HERE! TAKUMI!” “What?” said Takumi in an irritated tone, “Don’t you see I’m trying to DRIVE?” “Well, could ya slow down a bit?” Keisuke managed to get out mid-whimper. “This is fast?!” Takumi said, “Man, people in my backseat hate it when I drive.”

About 100 feet in front of the AE86, the two VM180s battled into the night. There was something strange going on with the drivers, however. “Yes!” Aeka thought valiantly, “I’m way out in front! There’s no way she’ll keep up!” Right in her rearview, however, lurked the headlamps of her bitter rival. “How did she catch up?! Well, there’s nothing to do now; time to go full-out!” Aeka smashed down on the accelerator coming out of the corner, but a strange force was not allowing her to get her foot down all the way. “Shit!” she thought, realizing why Washu made these suits, “They’re limiting our performance!”

“Say Washu-chan,” Tenchi asked, “Why did you let them race against each other like this with Ryousuke and his team watching? With the way those two drive, they’ll go all-out.” “Well, Tenchi,” Washu said, getting out her glasses and her seemingly always handy projector blackboard, “It’s very simple. I have microfiber-sized wiring that sends impulses to their muscles, holding back their best abilities by limiting their movements. All the simulations were done in part for me to design a suit for each one of the girls. I knew both would have to practice in front of D, so it was necessary for me to have a way to limit their abilities. After getting the data, I programmed each suit so it would constrict their true abilities.” “What about race day, though?” Sasami asked, giving everyone coffee. “Oh, I’ve got normal race suits for them on race day,” Washu replied, “I want them to run full-out only on race day against their opponents.” “Wow, that’s an awesome idea, Washu-chan!” Mihoshi said, sipping her coffee. “Well of course it is!” Washu replied, smiling and giving double v-signs with the utmost confidence, “It’s my idea!”

As the two cars got through the course’s mid-speed corner fist section, both Ryoko and Aeka were realizing that they were being limited. “Well, Aeka,” Ryoko thought, hitting the brakes, “I see that you’re skills are also capped off. Even though the suits aren’t allowing us to go full-out, I still will not lose to you, you little b*tch!” The next section of the course was the longest straight. It headed down to a severely tight hairpin curve. Both cars flew down the straight, with the delivery vehicle struggling to keep up.

“It’s now gonna be a braking battle,” Ryousuke said, “We’ll see who wins here at this turn.” “Let me know who wins, aniki,” Keisuke said, green in the face, “I’m gonna pass out.” Takumi slammed on the brakes, but the two VM180s still held out. “They’re nuts!” Takumi yelled. Finally, both cars smashed on the brakes at nearly the same time and headed into the turn side-by-side. Both Ryoko and Aeka seemed to be mismatched at the entrance; Aeka had a slight quarter-car lead. At the exit however, it was Ryoko who had the advantage. “Goddamn,” Ryousuke said, mouth agape, “They’re evenly matched.” “-and they’re both nucking futs!” Takumi exclaimed, “They braked a good two seconds after I did! Sure, I’m loaded down right now, but still, it should’ve been a lot sooner.” “That’s super tuner Washu Hakubi for ya,” Keisuke said, moaning on the bench seat in the back, “Now can we slow down and pull over? I gotta hurl.”

The Trueno pulled to the side of the road, and Keisuke climbed over the front seats and just got out of the car as he let go an early-seventies muscle car paintjob pallet of acid-laced post-digested food. “Dude,” Ryousuke said, “What the hell did you eat?” “I dunno,” Keisuke said, breathing heavily, “But it’s not cooperating one bi-ohshit!encore!” Keisuke yelled as he tossed his cookies. “Ryousuke-san,” Takumi said, with the ambient noise of Keisuke’s upchucking, “Can was beat them?” “I believe so,” Ryousuke said, with confidence, “But we’re going to have to race much better than we ever had.” “So what’s the plan, aniki?” Keisuke said, leaning against the Corolla, head down as he regained his composure. “I’ll tell you guys what that is during practice tomorrow,” Ryousuke said, “Just to let you guys know, the victory will all be based on tires.” “Please, for Chrissakes, aniki,” Keisuke said, holding his head in his hand, “No riddles, please! My head hurts too much as it is!”

New update is new!

Chapter 12: Hard-Compound Tires and Washu??

It was about 12 noon atop of Mt. Myougi the next day. Ryousuke, who was always punctual, waited with one of the support vans driven by Fumihiro. About five minutes later, Fujiwara showed up in his AE86. About an hour later, however, Keisuke rolled into the parking lot in his FD. “And where were you?” Ryousuke said, crossing his arms in distaste. “I’m still a little thrashed from last night,” Keisuke said, “Everything hurts and—” “—why don’t you get some aspirin and Alka-Seltzer, and get over it, will ya?” Ryousuke irritably said, “What a baby.” “Umm, Ryousuke?” Takumi asked, worried that his mentor might lash out on him. “What, Takumi?” Ryousuke said in a slightly less irritated tone, “Sorry for me acting this way, guys. I’m just trying to think of another way.” “Another way to beat Washu’s team?” Keisuke asked. “Precisely,” Ryousuke replied, “This plan may sound dumb, but please, just go with it and you’ll be okay, alright?”

“Okay then,” Takumi said, getting slightly irritated, “What is it?” “Well, first off,” Ryousuke said, rubbing his chin, “If I know Washu-chan, she’s been training both Ryoko and Aeka to the best of their abilities using some super-advanced equipment, and with the data I gathered last night, I’m thinking that they want to beat both of us in under three rounds.” “Three rounds?” the team yelled in surprised unison. “Exactly,” Ryousuke said, “After that, they have no other plans. What this race really is meant for is a pressure release for Washu.” “You mean like fighting or playing video games, right?” Takumi asked.

“Precisely,” Ryousuke replied, “To her, both Ryoko and Aeka are just being used as her pieces on this racing chess match. If we do win, however, there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll have to face Washu-chan.” “No way, bro!” Keisuke said, “You can’t beat her!!” “Keisuke, don’t you forget already?” Ryousuke said, leaning on a stack of tires, “Takahashis never show true skill unless the ultimate challenge in their life appears! Let’s just say this much; I want both you and Takumi to ride with Washu today after you start getting used to the hard-compound tires. So get out there and practice! She oughtta be here with Tenchi by eight tonight!”

As soon as the two went off into the night of Myougi, Ryousuke began reflecting again. (Keisuke: *sigh+facepalm* I swear, he does this every chapter.) It was his final year in Tokyo U, and Ryousuke Takahashi became the single most eligible bachelor on campus. He also became less of a slouch on the track, posting times up at the track days at Autopolis that smoked some of the old pros. His auto club instructor/mentor Washu Hakubi, had been training Ryousuke into a racing machine unlike anyone in Japan. Washu had taken a liking to Ryousuke; saying that she saw something of herself in his intelligence.

“Now only if you could live to be as old as me,” Washu jokingly said to her favorite student in her spacious lab under the Masaki residence’s stairwell as the two had tea with Tenchi and Sasami. “You mean that?” Ryousuke said, taking a sip of tea. “If I know Washu,” Tenchi said, taking a sip of tea, “That was not a joke. You are brilliant in whatever you do, not having to put forth much effort at all!” “And my dad calls that laziness!” Ryousuke said, getting a small amount of laughter out of the group. “Washu-chan really really likes you, Ryousuke-san!” Sasami said in her always-cheerful tone. “So Washu,” Ryousuke said, “What is this that you wanted to show me?” “Follow me,” Washu said, walking through a freshly materialized door.

Walking through the door, Ryousuke’s jaw dropped as he looked into a massive garage that would’ve mad any hot rod builder envious. The rolling dyno had a Honda NSX strapped down to it. On a lift sat a pristine classic Skyline GT2000. sitting in the middle of the garage, though, sat an exotic-looking red car. “TADAAH!” Washu yelled, getting out of the red car. “How the hell did you get this?!” Ryousuke yelled at her, obviously in an utter state of shock. “I helped design it,” replied Washu, “What else did you expect?” “Yeah,” Ryousuke said, still in shock at the sight of the car “But a full-blown Super-GT-quality R34 GTR?!” She just shook her head in a resounding yes. “It’s been fully re-built and re-tooled with an F1-quality suspension, of course, with a little bit of modification, that is.” “So this is yours?” Ryousuke said. “Nope,” Washu stated, “It’s what you’ll race me in when we meet after graduation on the touge. My car’s still a work-in-progress.”

* * *

After the practices were all finished, D was surprised when a brown and black Fairlady Z was sitting in the parking lot. “Tenchi-san!” Keisuke exclaimed as he walked over to the car, “I thought Washu was bringing her car today!” “She’s coming!” Tenchi said getting out of his Z, “she just had to make a few minor adjustments.” About three seconds after saying this, the whirr of a rotary was slowly approaching. “Dude,” Keisuke said to Tenchi, “Is that her?” Tenchi just nodded to state that it was. As the car came closer, D, and more importantly, Ryousuke, was finally able to see what they were up against. “Those headlights!” Keisuke yelled, realizing what it was she was driving, “There is no f**king way she’s driving something that ancient!” As the car pulled in to the lot, everyone just stared at its epicness. From the full set of super-rare SSR Fins that were tucked up in the sleek Ferrari-red carbon-fiber widebody fenders, to the recessed aero headlamps, the car was perfectly quirky, and it’s quirkiness screamed “Washu”.

“DA-DA-DA-DAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” Washu yelled, getting out of the car, “You likey, Ryousuke-chan?” “It sure is something,” Ryousuke replied, “Using such rare stuff as what you have on that; even I haven’t been able to find a good pair of SSR fins! And that sound! Is it what I think it is?” “Yep!” Washu said, smiling and holding up a big three, “Three-rotor 20B Washu special tune! It’s at an upwards of 550 naturally-aspirated horses right now!” “But in an SA22C?” Keisuke asked, “Well, it is Washu, so it makes sense that she’d do that.” “Alright,” Ryousuke stated, regaining his composure, “I want both of you to run the uphill-downhill in your cars with Washu-chan’s equipment hooked up to you.” “Greeeeeeeeeeeeat,” Keisuke said, “We’re now here guinea pigs.” “Just think of it as a test-fit for your new tuning,” Washu said, “Of course, by yours truly!” “Hey, Takumi!” Keisuke said, “I call going last!” “Wait-what?” Takumi said, “I’m first?” “Yep!” Washu said, dragging Takumi away with an impish grin. “HALP!” Takumi yelled as Washu pulled him to one of the support vans. “It’s gonna be a long session, gentlemen,” Ryousuke said, sighing.

Okay, I've got some good news and some bad news...

First off, the bad.

Both Project.D Vs Team WASHU and Skyline War Machine were destroyed when my USB drive went through the wash. I'm still trying to recover both plotlines, but this is a pretty devastating blow, if you know what I mean.

Good news...

I've got another fic in the work that I have been pretty seriously motivated about for a while. I'll post Chapter 1 up within the next two weeks with new chapters coming steadily for a while. Hopefully I'll be able to salvage both other fics, but for now, they're kindof on hiatus.

So you were all wondering why these have not been updated, well there's your answer in a nutshell. Sorry guys, and I hope that the new fic will make up for the delays.
