I was bored the other day and decided to write this first act. I always wondered how the characters' lives were before 1st stage. Although I will try to keep somewhat true to the series, I know I will have some timeline conflicts. Anyways, here's the first act:

Initial D: 1/2 Stage

Act 1: Direction

It was another dim, early morning on Mt. Akina. All was quiet as the dense fog rose in silence alongside the road. The pavement had swept the autumn leaves alongside the gutters. The mountain pass was sleeping very lightly, for it knew. Akina seemed to be in place, ready to welcome its nightly driver.

Then, in a quick surge of sound, the revving of an engine awoke the mountain top. The fog quickly slid into the mountain thicket. The howling screech of rubber on every hairpin made the leaves tremble as they were projected outwards by the tires. A faint “clang” could be heard as the car moved in and out of the gutters.

Compared to the disorder on the mountain, all was calm inside the AE86. The tofu sat comfortably in the rear.

“I think it’s time…besides, it’s in his blood.”

Bunta smirked as he lit his cigarette between the multiple s-turns, only using his right hand to feint his way up the mountain. Bunta sighed as he thought of how much tofu would get ruined while Takumi began his training, but he knew it was worth it.

Takumi woke up. He stared out the window where he could see a slim corner of Mt. Akina. He rarely went up the mountain with his dad, and if he did, it was during the day, always dealing with the Tofu shop. The mountain only reminded him of how boring it was, the daylong chatter about tofu and pricing, but tonight, he had a slight urge of curiosity. Was the mountain different at night?

That same night, in Akagi…

“Keisuke, you’re late again” said Ryosuke Takahashi as he looked at his watch. It was again 4:00 a.m., and his younger brother had just returned from another night of mischief.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever bro, what’s it to yo-“

“It’s your life to me, Keisuke. “

“Yet not more important than your computer and books?! I’m outta here!”

Keisuke stormed off in his yellow FD3S. His anger could only be matched by his right foot depressing the accelerator as he rode up Mt. Akagi.

“What does he know? He doesn’t understand my friends. We’re a team. My brother knows nothing of teamwork!” The FD swerved out of a corner uncontrollably, its tires and transmission screaming as Keisuke hit the redline, upshifted, causing the car to backfire. Then, in his rearview mirror, a pair of headlights appeared.

“Who’s driving on this mountain at this time of night? It’ getting closer…could it be…Ryosuke?” “Why is he following me? That old junk of his, does he think he can keep up with me?!”

Keisuke slammed his right foot, causing the tires to spin a little, and sped towards a right-hander. The white FC behind him was left behind. “Just as I thought” Keisuke proclaimed as he slammed his brakes into the turn, understeering, causing him to brake again near the apex. Then, to his complete surprise, the FC was next to him. “H-H-How did he do that?” Astonished and afraid, Keisuke watched in horror as his brother exited the turn, centimeters away from his own car and the guard rail. The FC was now ahead of him, and at the next corner, Keisuke watched closely as his brother performed a perfect brake drift and disappeared from his sight.

Bewildered, Keisuke put his hazards on and stopped alongside the road. “That was unbelievable… it gave me chills to see crazy driving like that…yet, my brother seemed calm the entire time, still as this mountain?”

Keisuke looked up at Mt. Akagi, and could see a faint white light circling up the mountain, like a white comet circling its orbit.

Comments? Suggestions? Should I just crumble it up and eat it for breakfast? If I do decide to continue writing this, it'd probably be once a week for every act.

That's definitely a good start. I like the way it's written too.

One litle detail though: unless I'm horribly mistaken, Keisuke only bought his FD after Ryosuke took him for a very wild ride in his FC (Keisuke remembers that night since he believed his brother wanted to commit a double suicide by sending the FC down the cliff). The Keisuke before that night was a gangster, had at least one girlfriend and I think rode only motorbikes.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Yeah I had a feeling that I was going to have some error there - I've never read the Manga, so all I knew about his past was that he was some sort of Gangsta. But in a way, Keisuke doesn't "have" the FD: he hasn't used its true potential as race car, only using it as means to express anger.

Also, if anyone has little tidbits from the Manga that may seem useful to me, please let me know.

Here you go:
.Keisuke has a really messy room
.The Takahashi brothers have a little cousin called Tsugumi. Tsugumi and Keisuke don't get along too well.

Yes, I will be continuing this, just catching up on some bio hw. Expect a new act tomorrow.

Act 2: A Path of Many Turns

Part I

“Five…four…three…two…one…go!”

All right, my first race, I’m getting goose bumps! Iketani shivered as his S13 dug into the pavement of the mountain road and sped off into the cold night on Akina. As winter approached, the dead leaves were now spread across the road. Next to him, his opponent, another young, inexperienced driver, also in an S13, rumbled his way towards the first corner.

“Okay, this is it, I’ve practiced enough…go my S13!” The two Silvias hit their brakes. The squeal of the brakes almost muffled the whistle of blow-off valve as the drivers downshifted. Iketani took the inside and had a half-car distance ahead of his opponent. Iketani turned, but he felt no response from his tires.

In a natural response, the red glow of the calipers appeared again, and Iketani managed to take the slow-speed turn, but his opponent, forced to take the outside, oversteered, regained control, and put a small margin of distance ahead of Iketani.

“Damn it!” Iketani exclaimed as he slammed his left foot down and stared at the back of opponent.

“Bro, I need to know…what driving was that last night?”

Ryosuke looked down at his watch, paused, and said, “I’ll show you.”

When Keisuke put down his right foot into the passenger’s seat of the FC, he questioned whether what he saw last night was a dream, or rather, a nightmare, created in some way from his anger. Slightly bewildered and curious, Keisuke sat inside. Fear began to rise up Keisuke’s throat as the first series of turns appeared on Mt. Akagi. Keisuke shivered.

“B-B-Bro, the t-turn is c-c-oming up, you better b-b-brake!” Keisuke grasped the edges of the door handle tightly. He felt his stomach sink deep into his back, his face almost flattened, his hands slipping along the sweaty door trim. His vision diminished as darkness surrounded his eyes, with only two streams of light peering onto the road. That’s when he looked over at his brother, and felt his face turn blue. How can he just stare coldly into the road like that?! While his arms and legs were nearly dancing to the beat of the rotary engine as he attacked the turns, Ryosuke’s face was as stolid.

Takumi yawned as he threw his green bookbag onto the floor and stretched out across his bead. Another boring day. Still sleepy from school, Takumi decided to take his daily nap.

“Takumi, get up, I need to show you something” Bunta mumbled under the smoke of a cigarette. Takumi lay still, pretending to be uninterrupted in his empty thoughts.
Bunta looked over at a pot of boiling water – better not waste it – and then again, this time yelled, “TAKUMI, get UP!” Takumi groaned and shooed-off his father with his hand, and fell back asleep. Bunta sighed and thought, I guess it’s only fair to give him some sleep now, he’ll need his energy for tonight.

Sorry for the lack of updates, here's part II of Act 2.

Act 2: A Path of Many Turns

Part II

Iketani shook off his fear of the mountain pass as the turns went by. The S13 had slowly pulled away from him, but he was persistent to win. “I cannot lose, no matter what, that’s the street racing code!” Iketani had reached the long straightaway before a series of five hairpins. Here’s my chance to catch up! Iketani shifted into third gear, and the car lunged forward on the attack. His S13 was slightly modified than stock, having an increased turbo boost pressure of almost one bar(~14 psi). Getting near the first hairpin, Iketani wasn’t going to let another braking mistake happen, especially on a high speed entry like this one. By now, he was within meters of his opponent. “It’s so hard to see the corners, the brake timing must be perfect!” I have to follow him into the turn…I’ve got to copy his line!

It was about 3 a.m. when Takumi heard a great CLANG alongside his ears.

“Wh-wh-at’s going on?

“Takumi, we’re going out on a drive, so get dressed…no, not those shoes, don’t you have any other ones? Wait, I have an old pair…”

Bunta reappeared with pair of New Balance shoes. “Hurry up, I need to take the Tofu Delivery…”

“At this time dad? Why do I have to go?”

Bunta did not answer, and headed off into the AE86, stepped into the driver’s seat, and waited. What is that Old Man up to now?!. As Takumi stood under the overhang of the Tofu shop, he could hear the slow creaking of the aluminum, complaining, apparently just as annoyed as him. Takumi almost tripped on pile of leaves, complaining to his dad, “It’s windy. Why don’t we do this another time, I’m sleepy!”
By the time Bunta reached Mt. Akina, Takumi was sound asleep. Bunta lit a cigarette, with a slight smirk across his face…

Although young, Keisuke had experienced some wild times in his life, from gang fights to late-night parties, but nothing had jolted him like this. His brother’s car, an almost seemingly ordinary car, was roaring across each turn on Akagi. He was too amazed to realize that the roar was similar to his own car; but all Keisuke was concerned with was how this was happening to him.
“Bro, please, tell me, what is this?! I am both scared and amazed…I feel as if nothing else exists, except for you, me, and this car on this road, going to who knows where!”

“Dorifto…you will begin to learn tonight, by watching me.”
