So yeah, I got a new desktop recently from my grandpa, well, it's new to me. It's an HP Pavilion that hasn't been touched since 2003, and it's running Windows ME. This version of Windows is so incredibly unstable that it's driving me nuts. I have a windows XP installation CD, but here's the catch. Because the computer belonged to my recently deceased grandmother and because I'd like to have a collection of all OSes, I don't want to completely get rid of Windows ME. Would there maybe be a way to create a faux installation CD and put ME on my Toshiba laptop that's running Windows 95? If nothing else, I would at least like to know if there are any programs that make ME more bearable. I spent hours yesterday spriting for a game idea I had (Long story, I'll make another topic for that when I have some material) and then paint decided it didn't want to stay open so I lost all my work. (Save early, save often I guess.)

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated!~

Get a program such as Paragon Hard Disk Manger Free and perform a backup of the drive. If you purchase the full version of Paragon you can use the P2P adjust option - but I don't think it works with versions of Windows below XP.

If you're looking for a collection of all OSes you can simply Google "All Windows DVD" and do some research for yourself.

If the machine has a COA for the installed OS then for updates and validation I'd advise against changing it. If you have a COA for the XP you're going to install then go ahead.

If you're going to use some "other" XP then that is at your own risk and in-depth discussion of that is not allowed.
