Yeah, life does that. I've been saving for a house, so racing has been a priority since I know it won't be once that actually happens.

Not in the first while anyway, but once everything settles, it's not so bad. It's a bit overwhelming at first, and it tends to be more expensive than expected, but it works out.

What are you in the market for?

Nice to meet you too.

Your location specifies China? Where specifically?

Not too bad... How the heck did you afford to live in Shanghai? pinch2.gif

I was born there, not too bad. Singapore is actually a bigger pain in my opinion, but well, pays were generally better.

That's exactly what I mean, Singapore's more expensive, but the pay is better. Shanghai is not much cheaper but the pay is a lot worse...

I always think of Shanghai, nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Top notch city, futuristic like none other, decent public transportation, but the cost of living is just so high...

There are much better places in China to live in, IMHO ( and no I'm not alluding to Beijing tongue.gif ).

Hah, I sorta understand what you mean. Actually, the pay in Shanghai isn't exactly bad, you know.

Beijing is on the cold side, I agree, I prefer more south than that. laugh2.gif

That's what I've heard. I don't need a ton of space, something around a 1000-1500sq. ft. foundation with a decent sized garage, the latter preferably heated or set up for it. There was one across the street from the office that I had my eye on but it's no longer on the market. I don't want to move too far from work, which has been limiting due to property values. It'll take time and I'm fine with that to find the right one.

Spaz: Didn't know you were looking around too. Pretty much facing the same issue with my search. Everything close to work is either in a bad neighborhood or costs twice as much as my budget will allow. If I don't care about my commute, I can almost afford a McMansion located in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, there's very little in between, and when they do pop up, they're in attorney review within 24-48 hours or need a lot of work that pushes overall costs above market value.

Speaking of China, I have an opportunity to travel to Xi'an. Pretty sure it's some elaborate scheme by my dad to set me up with some Chinese girl, because he wants me to stay in some university's dorm room instead of at a hotel, alone, for a minimum of two weeks. Still, I've never been to China and have no idea what's around Xi'an, so it might be cool.

Oh, and welcome back, Mobius. smile.gif

Xi'an is the area that my grandparents are from. I hear its a nice place! Be sure to try all the good, its definitely a treat!

I'm glad you're back Mobius, maybe my return was aligned with the stars or something. Even if is temporary.

My shoddy work day yesterday made me miss your return by nearly 24 whole hours. Unacceptable!

Thanks!

Xi'an is pretty neat, especially how they still have the wall surrounding the city center. Unfortunately ( for me anyway ), there was a huge section barricaded off for restoration.

Yeah I've been "away" for a couple of months now because of my work and university schedule. I check every couple of days, but I never find interesting things to post. Its usually the same regular people in Random Thoughts holding some semblance of conversation. It appears as blathering to me, I try to take no part in it. I was ok with the demotion and recently saw mention of my name. Logged in to reply that I was still alive and appreciated people missing me and I'm somehow still here.
