i'm not good enough to do more than speculate, but based on the WR:

GC8V is full course car Akina UH and semi-course car Akina Snow UH
ZN6 is full course car on Akina UH and Akina Lake CW

GC8V is between 0.5 and 2.5 seconds behind ZN6 on all non-course-car courses due to the standard differences in handling between the cars (turning radius, gearing, etc) except on a couple outliers (Sadamine and Nagao DH are competitive). These differences are probably why ZN6 edges GC8 for WR on Akina UH.

I full tuned an FD3S the other day, and one of the Spec 5 parts (which looks like a roll cage) had 2 options - one with Keisuke's face underneath, the other one with Kyoko's. Does anyone know if there's any difference between the two, performance and aesthetics wise?

I chose Keisuke's initially, then went back and selected Kyoko's. Couldn't tell what the difference is based on my noob skills.

The roll cages in the interior I believe. Just for looks.

Pretty much non of the choice upgrades have a performance difference, so don't worry about it.

Personally, I felt some differences among the Trueno engines (both Takumi and Shinji's Trueno). How should I put this, the different engines don't necessarily affect the performance, but they do change the feel of the car, which indirectly affects performance. Takumi's 13k rpm engine, for example, felt more drifty and slippery than the other 2.

Personally I would argue that it's still extremely negligible though, even if there is a slight difference.

Rev.12 is finally here on the 12th month. RX-8 is back! Funny how they had to exclusively point out FD nerf.

I'm just glad they nerfed the RX-7, though I wonder whether the AE86L needed that buff.

Anyone know how the card reader "clean roller" and "clean stocker" works? Just press and go? They seem to just roll a couple times.

Found this gem the other day:
YOUTUBE ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZM2H6yQJ2E )

Didn't know the lag can get this bad. I guess this is why you need gold drift boost to "correct" things.

In general the better player tends to win because the lags correct itself periodly. This is why sometimes cars can just push you out of the way out of nowhere, it's sometimes due to lag correction when the server restores the car's ghost on the opponent machines after finally receiving the needed info from that car's player machine. This is also why the Gold Boost System is brought in to help determine the better player since that system also counts crashes to decrease the final boost.

And this is after Sega's strict network requirements which an arcade needs to meet before even being accepted into the program and even then, their servers won't give machines races if their speed or latency is too slow.

The lag between "Other Asian Country vs Other Asian country" is even worse because the distance is longer. This is due to main server being located in Japan and the connection needs to route through there.

60FPS no visual of input lag racing is just hard to do on a technical level I guess.

That makes sense. I wasn't a huge fan of the gold boost system at first, albeit winning a few online battles in the past thanks of it. Seeing this video allows me to appreciate its usefulness.

Is lag the reason people get double victories on Tsubaki up? Would be nice if there is a footage of that.

Yeah pretty much, Tsubaki UH end section is bugged so it's far easier to get double wins there. It can happen naturally but cooperation greatly increases the chance since the leader can swerve to one side and slow down to give the opponent more space. It can happen on other courses too but the chances are very very low.

In addition, you need to be in front in order to get Gold Drifts in D8. It's very very hard to do from the back. This means that you can't just stay at the back, get gold drifts and cut your opponents at the end (which you could do in D7, they changed the system for D8). That's why both players in the video were fighting for the lead position like crazy.

Even if you want to do a super powerful from behind comeback boost (Gold Drift boost + "ON" race battle boost to get a super boost near the end of the race - very popular move in Hakone), you'll need to have quite a number of gold drifts over your opponent and not have any or much crashes to make sure you could succeed. Giving your opponent the lead has its fair share of risks and they are counter-tactics to the end boost too, like slowing down to weaken the boost of the car trying to attack you (shorter distances weakens the "ON" battle boost).

It's a pretty complex structure of strategies and counter strategies with risks involved especially when you battling other highly skilled players.

I'm quite sad I wasn't able to play online battles...maybe in Zero or next version after.

Haha I know I may be off topic for now, but if anyone has digimon pendulum ver2.0 and 2.5 and wish to exchange for an infinity card. Don't hesitate to contact me, I'm currently in digimon mode due to the 20th anniversary thingy. Thanks lollll

To add on, reply to holnivek. Not using gold drift below S rank is no problem. If above that level you don't use gold drift, even the world TA top 1 player might even lose the battle against stronger gold drift opponents. Having a strong TA it helps but doesn't rule out the possibility that a weaker or slower opponent in TA but did more gold drift to win you out of no where.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Spamming gold boosts also provides some assurances to the leading player, in case he screws up in the last corner and got overtaken before the finish line. I recall this happening to me once during the Tsuchisaka event, but because I accumulated quite some gold drifts during the race I was able to overtake just in time before the finish line.

It's easy to do gold drifts on courses like Usui and Hakone, what I can't comprehend is how some pro players can spam gold drifts on super narrow courses like Irohazaka.

Hi everyone, I'm new to ID Forums and ID8. I just recently got my car go ExSpec, and was looking for advice on racing. I played Version 3 and Extreme Stage in the past. Any help, advice, and tips are appreciated, I go to the round 1 arcade in Taunton Massachusetts to practice.

ince SEGA has terminated the DNET. does it mean that we can't play ID 8 online in the pc?
If we can't play online, then that means are we still able to obtain aura, ranks, or backgrounds?

tq for the reply smile.gif

Question, just got this version in the new Round One that opened here, haven't played since 2008. Trying to find menu translations but the ones in this thread are on imageshack and the links are dead now. Nothing shows up on wayback machine either. Does anyone still have the translations?
