When I was updating my Dad's IPhone and my IPad to 12.1, I was doing some research on Ios 12 and it says "Limited support on the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPod Touch (6th generation), iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air and iPad Air 2." check this out

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history#iOS_12

Does that mean that the all the apple device that is listed here are obsolete? & Why?.

I have a 5S and I just updated to 12.1 from 10.x yesterday. It actually feels more responsive to me. What year is your iPad?

https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-12/features/

Right from Apple's site for iOS 12, what they're saying is that some of the new features in iOS 12 are only supported by devices that use an A9 processor or later. It doesn't mean the OS itself doesn't work, and in fact they boast that it's much snappier on those older devices than iOS 11 would be. It just means you won't get the "full iOS 12 experience."

Good job for skipping iOS 11.

It seems that iOS 12 is much better than iOS 11: https://www.engadget.com/2018/10/11/half-of...running-ios-12/

I think iOS 12 is a good move.

I do understand the hesitance because once you "upgrade", you can't undo it, if it didn't turn out to be the upgrade you were looking for.

No, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are obsolete. They will just work slowly and some apps will encounter problems when you’ll try to view them. But that’s not a bad thing and it doesn’t mean that you will not be able to use them. You will, it’s just that you will get a bit frustrated sometimes of how they will work. I’ve had the iPhone 5s for a long time before I use it on a trading platform for iPhones. I just got tired of its slow work and I needed for my work a newer one. So I bought the iPhone 7 and everything went alright and I was pleased with it. That’s a good option, and I recommend you take it in consideration.

Damn, is the iPhone 5s already old? I still use it

no no they are not completely obsolete, it indicate that such devices receive very limited feature support in ios12.
