I was wondering what cars you guys have. Please Describe, and Post a Picture of your Car. Bread and Milk!!! |
Posted by: sideways Aug 7 2004, 12:52 AM |
Wow thats a bit, Got a list of mods/pictures? I payed 2400 for mine- That included a Trd suspension (spring and shocks) with a decently tuned redtop 4age. The exterior isnt perfect, but far from bad- minimal body damage my bondo can fix then a paint job. Interior excluding the drivers seat and dash is excellent. Then theres little thigns, pedals, momo steering wheel, steel brakes lines etc. |

In the market for a 1987-1993 Mustang 5.0 (LX or GT; Preferablly the fastback style)... If all else completly fails on the 'Stang, I'll retort down to a 1993-1997 Ford Probe GT... |
Posted by: sideways Aug 7 2004, 01:48 AM |
get a 69 mustang mach1 or a foxbody- best of the stangs. |
Posted by: MidnightViper88 Aug 7 2004, 02:27 AM
What do you think I said then? |
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Aug 7 2004, 02:54 AM
dont give up on the stang. there are so many of those damn things around there is NO excuse not to have one. I had a freind sell one that was one of the nicest fox's I have ever seen. And I hate the way they look(shrugs). fastpack cobra. black with red pin stripes cobra r rims. 5speed and a 300hp 5.0. That car was so bad ass. Guess how much he sold it for... 1800bucks... ! (he sold it to a freinds freind or something) hell, if you cant find a nice fox go for a 3rdgen fbod. IIRC they where fairly light too. I know its not a ford but still.. v8 rwd coupe... sameshit.. |
Posted by: MidnightViper88 Aug 7 2004, 08:28 AM |
No, the Camaro is not the same as the Mustang, but you have the "shit" part correct... I don't like the way the 3rd gen F-Bodies look, and I don't know anything on tuning GM engines...Hell, I don't even know what kind of engines they run...On top of that, I'm not much of a 1975+ GM fan in the first place, with the exception of the Corvette, but I can't afford one of those... BTW: The Mustang LX 5.0 Hatchback has a curb weight of around ~2820lbs...The Notchback is slightly lighter with a weight of around ~2770lbs, and the GT is about at most 100lbs heavier than the LX 5.0 Hatchback...I think the 3rd gen Camaro coupes weight about ~3250lbs... 300-500lbs can make all the immediate difference, and I'm already Ford-bias, soo... |

*reads the topic* I have a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme in kinda of good and bad conditions. On the outside. there are rust stains below the two doors and..ok it looks kinda bad, there is a deep long scratch on the right side of the car and alot more. Engine is weak i guess. The car is automatic and is mine...but still is my grandfathers car...although he gave it to me .. Does that count? |
Posted by: Project D Aug 7 2004, 10:16 AM |
btw theres a "what car u have" thread already post ur pics there BTE, i thinkur effin bull...oh volk rims./..drift king type body kit? your gay. |
Posted by: rwdrift Aug 7 2004, 10:21 AM
Wow, you buy a drifting car and nowhere in your list have you said anything suspension related. Please dont make a show car out of that AE86. It'll hate you for it. |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Aug 7 2004, 10:32 AM |
this was a long time ago but i think i saw in a magazine alot of pics of Corollas and one of the pics had a 86 Toyota Corolla GTS....and it was made to be a lowrider wtf!? not to mention he smoothened out the car to get rid of that kinda boxy shape. You ask me, i wanted to kill that guy for making his corolla gts a lowrider |
Posted by: zAE86BoYz Aug 7 2004, 10:57 AM |
No, Im not making my AE86 a show car. Its ganna be a performance car If I have enough $ My friend has an AE86 coupe It all show The only performance part is the exhaust and Strut bars |
Posted by: sideways Aug 7 2004, 11:02 AM |
Everything else is stock? Hate to say it but you guys were riped off but about 1500 |

Well a "good" stock 86 is worth about 3000 bucks- if its in DAMN nice condition... im talking greta paint great interior good engine- 4000 maybe a little higher (check club 4a and ebay- theres "blue book" and what theyre really worht, if its not worth it to you go look else where- there are always "good" deals- but thats an average.) Front and rear strut towers can be had in a set for under 100 bucks, and exhaust i wouldny pay more then a couple hundred for a GOOD one as well. |
Posted by: But she looked 18 officer Aug 7 2004, 01:18 PM
such as sad world we live in now when the ae86 biggest known accomplishment is being a "drift" car. but I agree with you about not putting anything other then ethstetics... and midnight, point is skip the probe. |
Posted by: sideways Aug 7 2004, 02:38 PM |
I dont see whats so sad about the 86 being known for drift today. True when it cam out it was a work of its time- being both an awesome track and rally car. Motor sports in general are dominated by the big- the powerful- and the expensive. Something the 86 is hardly- topping in at around 130 horsepower stock. In drifting competitions many of these cars can keep up with the 4 or 500+ turbocharged cars, and few 86s go over 200. I think its great and very well worth pointing out that a 20 year old car- which is greatly "underpowered" to most, can outpreform even the top end machines of today of this type of sport. |

It may be RWD and a current bargain for SCCA rallying but in it's time it was no championship winning car. Group B was the main championship of it's time and Toyota had already made a feeble 2WD effort with the Celica Twin Cam Turbo. It (the Celica) won Safari in 1984 I believe but that was about it. The Celica All-Trac was gaining ground in Group A, and Group N, which would have been the AE86's class, was ignored by Toyota. After all, Toyota's focus was on the more lucrative and popular Group A (though the Gr. A Celica didn't actually win a championship until the 90's, IIRC). So it wasn't exactly an awesome rally car, being pretty unheard of in the WRC. That's all |

1987 RX-7 Turbo II Paid 1500, near mint condition |
Posted by: fr86 Aug 15 2004, 08:15 PM |
omg... u paid 4500 US for a 86. O_O *barfs* I drive my dads cavy or my moms sienna. Im getting my own car, hopefully, at an auction September 10th.. the only real way to buy cheap (aside from old ladies ofcourse). 4500.. u coulda gotten a gorgeous GXL, hell even turbo FC.. for 6Gs CDN i can get a TII here in edmonton. im in a state of shock. Sideways atleast got some kinda a deal. |
Posted by: sideways Aug 15 2004, 09:14 PM |
i got a very nice deal indeed in "normal" stock condition (in the same condition i got mine in about) they go for 3000, i at least got basic preformance parts (steel lines, strengthed this and that) a suspension (trd sprigns/shocks) and a redtop engine for 600 bucks less. My paint may not be as nice as the one for 3000, but with the money i saved on parts time and work- i dont give a damn, i can get my car painted black again for the 600 i saved...and bondo to fix what damage there is is like 5 bucks. |
Posted by: fr86 Aug 15 2004, 09:20 PM |
You got a nice deal for a regualar buy in this day. for their performace the arent worth the blue book value. They are simply a fad, a couple of years ago they would never go for more then 1500 CDN, i checked autotrader alot back then and it was always like that. They arent worth the money, if u guys never saw/read/played Initial D then i doubt you guys would be getting 86s. Man.. i even hear Sr5s going for more then 2Gs now days.. ugh... the ultimate piece of shit, making barely 60 whp (if even that). People.. |
Posted by: sideways Aug 15 2004, 09:26 PM |
I liked the 86 before i knew what ID was- i used to hang out at an asian "mini" mall- needless to say this stuff came up. ive seen some real ones there, and then in the magazines. but how can you say they arent worth there preformance? Man, go watch what say tsuchiya can do in one- or ueo even. that guy is DAMN fast in an 86. they accelerate slow but handling is pretty damn good for a car this old, even amongst cars in its class today... you REALLY just need to sit in the seat of as someone is racing or drifting in it to udnerstand what i mean. It pulls pretty good from inside (a car can "pull" just as hard as another car even if they dont accelerate at the same speed) which is nice, plus theyre easy on the pocket. just.. get some experience in one- i fell in love with the sound and mechanics of the engine more then anything. |
Posted by: fr86 Aug 15 2004, 09:36 PM |
Why did u buy one after the fad? aw11 or an rx7 i think arebetter for the the buck. They were worth the money before the fad, why would it be worth it when the fad is at its boom? |
Posted by: 1slowsupra Aug 15 2004, 09:38 PM
Man you got owned. Who ever sold you that car made a killing off you guys. I bought one for 500 bucks from a friend, yah it needed a new engine, but that would of only cost 500-750. The car got towed and I felt it wassint even worth paying 300 to get it out. I came close to buying another friends Hachi. It was straight and clean...he wanted 2200 for it. I thought that was a rip off and he is no longer my friend for trying to say he was hooking me up! HAHA nice future up grades! No performance what so ever. Show queen. Feel sorry for this Hachi already. |
Posted by: fr86 Aug 15 2004, 09:47 PM |
my friend got one for 500 from his cusin. 500 CDN. AND it runs. Not well, but the thing still purs. I think he fixed his clutch now (as in got a new one lol), working on the exaust (the pipe leaks xD~). Now THATS a deal. >=D front shot. Hood is just black. The car is lowered on cut springs, weak sauce. But damn, 500$, he showed me the transaction sheet. Another guy i know got 240 for 695 CDN @ auction! The deals u can get here.. >=D |
Posted by: sideways Aug 16 2004, 11:38 AM |
Why did i get my at the point of the fad? becuae thats when i had money to get a car, if i wanted to be into the "Fad" id have gotten a 240. Aw11-rx7 Rx7 is worth the price IF you got the money to upkeep them, plus theyre more fragile then the 86 is. more money, also the job ill be getting the end of next month is a driving job- gas mileage is important as well- its a bit less then 20 for the fc and the high 20s for the 86. As for the aw11- 2 reasons to avoid this car, a- having a driving job i neeed room, not somethign the mr2 has.. and have you ever worked on an mr2? metal metal everywhere and not a spot to work. no room in the bastards, so i dont have the tools to get anythign done (a normal socket wont cut it- you need flexable tools which are expensive) And heres the BIGGEST reason: availability. i probably would have gladly taken any of these 3 cars- in my eyes theyre all even when compared to ups and downs (86 may not be as "fast" as the fc to most, but its cheaper and does what i want it to easier- makign up for that). A good mr2 would be about 2-3 grand for an na. Fc is about the same price- and about 4-6 for a tii I picked up my 86, pretty well tuned with adjustable suspension basic upgrades and an engine swap- for 2400- where nowadays in my area one in pretty much the same condition with better paint would have fetched 3000. The 86 is a fun car- plain and simple. is a great handling car out of the box, and can cheaply and easily be made into a track warrior with a few basic engine upgrades and small suspension work. Theyre reliable (at my junk yard theres an 86- the only 86 there, it read 315xxx miles on a stock engine) and if they do break its pretty cheap to fix em to begin with. Lack of horse power is easily and cheaply made up for |
Posted by: fr86 Aug 17 2004, 08:16 AM |
good arguments. I dont see how 86 has room, im 5'11 and i would like the seat to go back more. No room at all man.. the wheel is like rubbing my legs. xD~ aw11 is the same thing though. >_< FC is made for taller people. =D Also, it all depends how u drive the FC.. gxl wont have that many problems cause they make alot less heat then the turbo models. And still its all about how u drive it, gravitus from initial-d forum ran his tii for a long time, and he is on his first engine rebuild right now. After track day he blew an apex seal (rx7s bish problem, im sure u know of it ). |

Why buy an 86 when you can be an original owner like me? Mine is pretty much still stock but i plan on working on getting a new intake/exhaust system; Leaning towards HKS right now, but still researching other names at the moment. I also want to get a new paint job soon, esp to get rid of that awful looking spot on my hood. But yea, I seen a 1 or 2 86's that went for 2300 at recycler.com. They looked real clean and had about a little over 100k on the chassis. |
Posted by: rageguy Aug 20 2004, 12:31 AM |
i think id really influence many people to buy an 86. my frd is gonna buy one here in vancouver for around 3k. i guess its an ok deal for it. i duno about the mileage or condition though. i personally drive an 03 nissan se-r. i would love to buy a nice cold air intake so i can get the nice air sound at high rpm header and exhause seems good to buy too. turbo is too expensive for me anyway. |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Aug 20 2004, 01:29 PM |
At least you all got cool cars. Mine is a piece of crap since it doesnt even have an A/C and the radio doesnt even work and everyday is getting worser. I just wish i could overhaul my cars engine!! >_< Another problem i noticed on my Cutlass is that the steering is a bit loose. Then theres the suspensions that annoys me. Every bump..and it squeaks as if its about to brake. Whenever i brake, it sounds as if its about to brake too. The whole thing is stock except for the new radiator that was replaced with a new one from another Cutlass( dont know which one) and the brake pump, brake cable line, and Spark Plug Wires and new Spark PLugs. I would really like to overhaul that engine cuz 86 mph is just, i dont know, to slow for me ~_~. I want to push my car to the limit but since i dont have a license yet and i dont know any tracks were i can practive and stuff...well..i cant do anything for now |
Posted by: sideways Aug 20 2004, 01:51 PM
Ok something is wrong here- Im almost 6'2 and i have to move the seat up 2 clicks... i cant imagine how the hell your reaching the pedals -properly- with the thing all the way back, considering i can barely do this myself. A friend of mine is almost 6'3 or 6' and weighs about 280- and even for him the wheel doesnt rub against his legs.If you find you dont have any room in an 86 your going to have serious problems. Ive been in many FCs as well- my only friend out here is a fc driver, and he (used to) lead a team of FC drivers. Being 6'2 i find the fc MUCH tighter then my 86, but its a "perfect" fit. Any smaller would be too small. Everything is in perfect range and reach of me, nothings too close or too far. __________ Goign to a CIA on your car should not change the exhaust note- maybe add an extra wind noice factor.. but nothing youll really notice _________ Dont even bother racing a cutlass... Cool car to get around in- not to attack turns in. ____ heh.. move the back seat further.... if ur 5'11 and need to go back further in the 86 due to lack of room... your not going to find many cars comfortable. |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Aug 20 2004, 02:01 PM

That's right; It was built from the factory for you to pimp out...Three 20" chrome rims, one 14" spare... |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Aug 21 2004, 07:27 PM
O_O!!!....im not a big fan of chrome unless is on pimp rides but i dont see my car on chrome but i dont know. It wont have chrome unless it gets a new paintjob and stuff. THEN i would put the 20 inch chrome spinner wheels....ok enough with the pimp out stuff >_>. the car i really want is the 86 corolla gts. but so far i have seen a few of them in relatively average condition although i have seen sr5's that are already smashed up and on cement blocks. the gts is the car i really want. If I cant find the Hatchback model then i might as well go for the notchback model since its the easiest model to get here. I just really want a car that I can work on and take care of it as if at was my own. And also, put my own looks into the car to show that i put my own personalitiys into the car. And whats the color i want on my 86? Read my Signature.....Black and Blue |
Posted by: sideways Aug 21 2004, 07:40 PM |
Now that ive got some money in ive been thinking how to paint my car.. i started a thread about it awhile ago but i think ive decided. Im going to make it pands- slightly different from takumis (ie the stripe going all the way around the front bumper) But instead of white/black im going to go with as light a silver as i can find... i think thatll look awesome |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Aug 21 2004, 07:46 PM |
you mean silver and black like in Initial D version 3? thats a really cool color sidewaysgts . i want mine to be blue and black since blue is my fav. color. |

Got me a 92 Plymouth Sundance Duster. Yah yah.. its not a flashy import, but this things got balls when you tap the accellerator. Currently its stock and if I can get beyond my wiring harness issues I got some plans to for it. Under the hood its got the Mitsubishi 12valve SOHC 3.0l V6 power plant. I bet you're saying "so what?" right now. Well this engine boys and girls is the same block & bottom end as the DOHC 24valve engine inside the 3000GT and Stealth R/Ts. This leaves me with alot of room to work. Granted I don't have plans to turbo or supercharge this, but even N/A these things can put out. plans: egine: -24 valve heads with 3 angle valve job -montaro cams (they seem to produce more torque) -MSD ignition -Underdrive Pully kit -Oil cooler -52mm throttle body -Cold Air Intake -2.5" exaust w/Dynomax Super-Turbo muffler -Turbo I injectors (27lb) -Feul Pressure regulator -Performance Subcomputer (or MegaSquirt II MPI computer) suspension: -Monroe SensaTrac shocks & struts -Strut Tower brace -front & rear sway bars -Eibach lowering Spring kit -stock alloy rims from a Daytona (either 15" or 16") possiblities: -carberator (only if the electrical keeps pissing me off) |

At the moment I own 3 cars... #1 Opel Kadett GT 2,0 16V -88 Mods: New engine, C20XE 2-litre 16V engine instead of the stock 2-litre 8V engine. Modified header, modified airintake, changed duration on the exhaustcamshaft, modifed electronics on the airintake, pipercross airfilter, Group N chip (from the rallycars). Should be about 180 hp instead of the stock 150, maybe a little more. A little more torque to, I think. Oh, new gearbox to, more suitable for my driving... Less topspeed, more acceleration... Sweet. Next winter the engine should be renovated (has run about 162000 miles now...) and some more hp should find it´s way in at the same time... Pic of it: http://www.raceinorr.com/~ajo/ajo/kadett3.jpg #2 Opel Corsa 1,2S -85 Nothing done to this car, pure stock. 55 hp, poor red paintjob, but otherwise it´s in good condition... Giving this car to my father, as a payment on my debt... It works fine as substitute for the S60 when that´s not around. Pic of it: http://www.raceinorr.com/~ajo/ajo/corsa1.JPG (big pic, but a small cute car... ) #3 Volvo 740 GLE -87 No other mods than alpine cd, infinity speakers in front and back, infinity amp and MTX 10" woofers... Oh, and 5 extra headlights, gets dark here sometimes... Well, 22 hours/day in the winter (5 months)... hehe... Nice, cheap car that takes me from point A to point B in comfort and despair... It´s sooooo boring! hehe... No pics of it at this time, though... Edit: http://www.raceinorr.com/~ajo/ajo/ <-- two pics of two of cars I´ve owned there to... |

^^^ You got any pictures of that? o.O Edit : sideways, not all people getting a 240 are into the "fad" because it's a "fad". Sure, with 240's, God, it's probably a 30 or 50:1 ratio. It's damn good car, some people see that for what it is. God, I love that car. I owned one before I was into drifting. I drifted the hell out of it without knowing much about it. Now, I wanna rebuy one, because not only are Sileighty's sexy to me, but because I got familier with that car in a week, easily. But, I could change my mind over the next few months, thought it'll take quite a lot of thoughts to change my direction away from it. |

No offence sob, but thats exactly the same line most people say when they are fallowing a trend no matter what it is. "I didnt get into them becuase they are popular..." "I had one/liked them before it got popular" " and it seems that they always feel like they need to defend themselves about being apart of the fad unprovoked. Now, what they say maybe true for the people who liked them beforehand, but when the same lines come from almost everyone who is into the new trendy activity(such as drifting) or owns a new trendy object(such as a 240sx or ae86 or FC) or wants to... you begine to laugh it off. Now, im not trying to accuse you or anything(it would be pointless if I where to try even if I cared). This is just a simple off topic observation. I think you can agree with me. |
Posted by: sideways Sep 19 2004, 12:38 PM |
I for example knew what the 86 was (someone on the street had a sr5) and i thought it was pretty neat. Then i started hanging out with asians and found out what the car could do. i guess that makes me trendy, but i dont care. i plan on keeping this car for a LONG tiem to come. |

1994 Mazda Miata M Edition. Only had it three months, just a timing bump and intake on it so far. Mulling over wether to go FI or blow my money on building up an NA mill. Those IRTBs like on the Roadster-S in eps 1&2 of stage 4 are soooo sexy, but it will cost way more money for way less power to go the NA route. |

I specifically dont have a car - but my pops has a dying Dodge Neon family, guzzling gas and leaking oil like mad into our driveway and my unc (who lives with us and is only 7 years older than me) has a white automatic DA6 (cookie for the person who can guess what that chassis code stands for) - which becomes my car when he is out of the country on biz trips. Plans have been made for me to get a 98-01 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. Serious consideration has been made with factors such as fuel economy, stability in the snow, and reliability. |
Posted by: RakeRon Sep 26 2004, 06:36 PM |
I'd drop the 2.5RS for the WRX (even if its not an STi). Besides.. instability in snow is teh fun! |
Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Sep 26 2004, 06:43 PM |
I've already saved up a bit for the 2.5RS about 9K Canadian. I've seen some on sale for as low as 14K Canadian, so im getting close. For a WRX, i'd have to save up for a couple more years. I'd probably wait a couple more years, but frankly, im sick and tired of being another human cargo on the bus. |
Posted by: RakeRon Sep 26 2004, 06:47 PM |
Its called financing. If you are on better terms with your folks then me get one of them to cosign for the difference you need. Get a used WRX, may not be as good as a STi but it has a good aftermarket. |

ran great for sitting in a Jyard for almost a year...a navy guy owned it and had to leave overseas so he sold it to the jyard...i found it there when looking for a 4ag for the coupe i had @ the time (which i sold). car passed smog w/flying colors first time around...all it really needs is a paint job...a bit faded w/oxidation w/minor rust spots...rear seats are a bit tore up (top vinyl section...no big deal.) Front seat had a hole so i replaced w/Sparco seat...it even has a sunroof...fully functional too! Got this hatchback almost 2 years ago...BONE STOCK! |

the picture is from about 4-5 months ago...it has a couple of things added to it since then...sides, CF fins, lip, coilovers, etc...i love this car! its so fun to work on and get sideways...believe it or not, my neighbors have 4 corolla's...all GTS w/LSD...mines has a stock lsd as well... |
Posted by: Indecisive Sep 28 2004, 11:32 PM |
ah...you got it 2 years ago. before the drifting thing got insanely popular. that makes sense. |
Posted by: RYCEBOY_124 Sep 28 2004, 11:41 PM |
not really...initial D was pretty big back then and peeps were picking them up a lot because of the anime...i would find a few between $1200-2300...too much for me at the time...still is a lot even now...my first i bought for $700...not running...pretty much just a chasis...thats why i as looking for a motor where i found my current hatchback...i sold the coupe for $800 and the guy even towed it up to San Bernadino...now D1 came along and doubled prices...sometimes triple... |
Posted by: sideways Sep 28 2004, 11:42 PM |
Agreed: supply and demand man.. but on the otherside it was from a junkyard i dont think theyd be in on the fad. But somethign ot note though: thats above blue book either way, even for 2 years ago. blue book is like 700 on our cars __ In reality i need about 7-800 bucks for my 86 to be a happy looking car and have everythign thats broken replaced. By the time im done, if i ever finish of course, ill have about 11 grand into it. |
Posted by: RYCEBOY_124 Sep 28 2004, 11:45 PM |
i actually found a red coupe gts for 1200...but im in no hurry to buy it unless the owner drops the price a few hundred bucks...my friend found a guy selling his GTS hatch for $700...that was a month or 2 ago...very very clean condition too!!! |
Posted by: RYCEBOY_124 Sep 28 2004, 11:59 PM |
yeah...i guess but the jyard owner knew what i was...he wanted $1200...i offered $900 cash...he took it...he was pretty knowledgable about the car...he knew it was RWD, LSD, DOHC fuel injected, etc...He was selling the 4ag bluetop for like $500 bucks...then i saw the hatch in the back stall...overall...i think it was a great deal...thing ran strong...still does too!!! yeah...people think these cars are cheap...NO! it takes a lot of time, patience, reasearch and a whole lotta money to get these cars looking the way they should!!! I've put in about 10K so far and i still dont think im close to done yet...i guess its decent enough for now... |
Posted by: sideways Sep 29 2004, 12:42 AM |
Wow, ill be putting about 11 grand into mine; its nice knowing who i know i guess. That will get me my custom paint job, rims, redone interior, fixed problems, cf hood, custom racing seat, coilover suspension on adjustable shocks (not just sleeves like you found) and a pretty rebuilt silvertop. Being able to do most of the work your self, or knowing people who can/will for you is great. That seat for example is custom built to me specification fors around 150 bucks.. not comfortable AT ALL.. but theyve got little "pillows" to help with that. I could get into my full planned mod list but thatd span for awhile lol. ___ All and all a clean 86 inside and out with minimal problems is going to run you around 3-4 grand at most. A lot for these cars i guess but still "cheap" compared to your other options if autox or drifting is your choice. |

How much? Damn nice car |
Posted by: Iceman Oct 3 2004, 06:31 PM |
Guy wanted $4750, we offered $4000 since it needed minor work (about $400 I'd say), he offered $4250, we talked a bit, then we settled at $4175, shelled out the money, turned out we didn't have a $5 so we gave him $4180, and he gave us the last $20 back, bringing it to $4160. Yeah the highlight of my afternoon was driving it back to my apartment (a route that lead me straight through Dallas and took me an hour), and it was made more difficult by the fact that the last (and first) time I had driven a manual was 2 years ago for an hour. I made it though! Yeah, its a great car... been wanting one since I got my license two and a half years ago. Kinda freaky actually having it after such a long wait and so many failed attempts to buy one. But I'm not complaining, just bubbling. I'll shut up now. edit: after reading back in this thread a little, I'm glad its not trendy yet. Y'all need to be my witnesses if the trend hits. |
Posted by: sideways Oct 3 2004, 09:24 PM |
I dont think it will be. Peformance wise theyre about even with the Fc, and the fc is a bit more "practical" to most i guess. When you get to "open her up" you gotta tell us about it . And if you get it sideways; u gotta share that too |
Posted by: Iceman Oct 4 2004, 06:08 AM
Yeah, kinda hard to "open her up" when you have as little experience with a manual as I do and with your dad in the car... I'll get around to it, though. About getting it sideways... mebbe some day. Oh yeah did GT3turbocharged9 ever get his 951?... and while I'm on it, I really hate Britney Spears now. She crashes a 944 (I think, maybe a 928) into a swimming pool in her new video. |
Posted by: sideways Oct 4 2004, 01:10 PM |
Haha not with my dad, he was flooring it almost everywhere we went the first few nights we had my 86. It was pretty new to him, only other "fast" car he had was a 240z. he commented how most cars he had driven, the revs would slow down around 5000 rpms. Mine however is the opposite; the engine accelerates faster passed 4400 rpms when the tvis opens up (new experience for him) plus it was handling pretty good even on the shit tires it had which we were enjoying for awhile. oh well, too many stories... basicly my dad likes to go fast. hates most cars unless they have a clutch (vans/suvs exluded of course) |
Posted by: Iceman Oct 4 2004, 01:41 PM |
man... took me a while to find the hood release since it wasn't in the place where the diagrams say (for future reference its on the driver's side about foot level on the wall on the left...) and I realized after I opened the fuse case that the fuse i needed for the window winder was a thirty amp and not a 7.5 like the previous owner said, so i gotta go shopping... and I was figuring out the controls and raised the headlights... the dumb headlight switch popped out of place so I had to remove the panel it was in and replace it in its slot, then i tried to lower the headlights and they didn't lower... so I don't know if I got the right switch or not, or what it is. Gonna have to call the previous owner. At this point I noticed that the shroud and two screws were missing from the right headlight... just a little more work. Not to mention that my shift boot is f00k'd. its a nonstandard version that is integrated into the knob, and its coming un-stitched there and the base where it snaps into the center console is out of shape. of course after I fix all that i gotta put in a CD player and some better speakers. Which means I have to learn how to do the wiring because I don't wanna take it to a shop. Oh well, I don't grudge the work. Just glad to have a car to work on! But I'm taking it out tonight at midnight (no insurance yet, don't call the fuzz) to work on my shifting in and out of 1st gear. Good times, good times. |
Posted by: sideways Oct 4 2004, 02:31 PM |
haha good luck on fixing up the car man. I highly suggest you do learn proper shifting before you attempt anything at all. Keep practicing until you can slow-shift smoothly (slow work on the clutch) Then step up from there and fast-shift smoothly (fast clutch work) |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Oct 4 2004, 02:43 PM |
i dont need to explain what car I have, but im planning on getting a 86 notchback gts maybe next year. I have to look around more for 86 notchbacks gts that are for sale and if im lucky i might find a decent good condition 86 Corolla gts hatchback |
Posted by: flohtingPoint Oct 4 2004, 02:44 PM
Little addition to that: Anytime you launch, ride your clutch a bit, so you dont spin as much. |
Posted by: Iceman Oct 4 2004, 04:19 PM |
Yeah... I can shift fine 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-4, 4-3, its just N-1, 1-2, and 3-2 that get me. thanks for the tips, guys. Really my problem is that i don't have down the ratio of gas to clutch to use going into first and second. I'm not even considering pushing it until I have a solid feel for it. This isn't my particular car, but its same make, year, model, color. I'm still researching it, so I'm not entirely sure which engine I have, the 2.5L 8v SOHC or the 2.7L 16v SOHC. Doesn't really matter, they make the same numbers. (~160 bhp, ~160 lb/ft) |

Its ok ive done this before where people doubt that I have the car and need proof by me putting something in the picture that they ask for. Well I just went to the fridge to get the milk and to my embarrasment I am out of milk as well as bread!!!! So I hope this will do, Its a small bottle of stawberry milk, a jar of mayonaise and a bottle of mustard. And yes those are Cobra rims on there, they came with the car and I thought they looked good so I didnt take them off |

haha dont worry about the doubt thing, its more of a IDW custom (due to some idiot who claimed he had a skyline) then anything. check out the gallery op top and youll know what i mean but thanks for the pictue either way kinda funny. but that its a nice set of wheels you have there. and mods worth noting? |
Posted by: Coyote Oct 5 2004, 07:23 PM |
besides the rims its totally stock, I havent done anything to it yet because I dont have much money left after buying it. I plan to take off the wood inserts around the guages, radio and AC controls, put boost guages on the A-pillar and im going with either red leather inserts or red stitching on the tubes in the seats. my dad works with leather so he can get me a deal on the seats. |

Some very nice cars you guys have! As for me, I have a 2001 Cavalier. Ultra Silver Metallic, 2200/5 speed, base model, but it does have side mouldings, rear spoiler, cd player, trunk release, gauge package, rear window defogger. If I can get get some cash flow, sometime soon, I'll be trying to get a 240SX. Hopefully, an S14. Definitely gonna be a 5 speed. I'll probably never own another auto., as my last two cars were autos and I got sick of it quick. I'm not wanting a 240SX because of the "fad," either. I just want one because I really like them, and I want a RWD car. Initial D didn't get me wanting one, either. I have been wanting one for a while now. My friend's uncle got a '91 S13 a few weeks ago. Sadly, it's an auto., but it's still a fun car to ride in, so I can only imagine what it'd be like to drive one with a 5 speed. I've just heard so much about them being extremely well-balanced, and the steering is barely power assisted at all. That's one problem I have with my Cavalier. It's got wayyy too much power assist on the steering. Anyway, here's a pic. |

first car was a 1988 baby blue jetta coupe. got it when i turned 16, and loved the shit out of it. in feb of 2001, my parents bought me an eclipse, 1998 GS-T. i was so f**king psyched and i loved it. the only thing was it was automatic. after about two years went by i was just so fed up with that, so i saved up my own money and bought myself and old 5-speed model talon TSi awd. i seriously loved the SHIT out of that car. i had it for just under a year and drove it every day. i didnt have much on it for mods, just an intake, exhaust, boost controller @ 13psi and boost gauge. damn that thing was so quick and SUCH a pleasure to drive. about a month ago though, the engine finally blew and it was no longer drivable. sad sad day indeed. its still sitting in my garage waiting for me to decide what to do with it. i stripped most of the parts out of it that i could sell, and i'll prolly just dump it at a junkyard. anyway, now i am left with the eclipse. its a nice car, and im happy i didnt have to struggle to pay for it, but i simply cant stand it being automatic. im already saving money, and by the time im out of college in a couple years, i should be able to at least lease a ~30k car, or buy a used sports car. if i were to buy one now, i'd have a hard time deciding between an rx8, s2000, 350z, evo8 or sti. but since i dont have anywhere near the money for any of those, i dont have to worry about it for some time. anyway, heres some pics: |

Apparently, someone came on here claiming they had a Skyline or something a while back and they asked him to go out and put bread and milk on the hood and take a pic to prove it was his, but he just disappeared. I think that's what happened, IIRC. |

I have a 94 Honda Accord EX Coupe (f22b1 SOHC VTEC) 145 hp. So far all I've done was install a CAI, headers, and Apex N1 exhaust. The only suspension mod I have is a front tower strut bar, which was given free by mistake with the CAI I also took out my back seats and passenger seat. Now all I have is a Momo racing seat. |

I own a 1992 Mazda Mx-3 "Precidia" GS 5speed, but swapped the 1.8L v6 130hp motor out for a Japanese imported 2.5L v6 pumping out 200hp N/A. Exaust was upgraded to 2.5" and i have headers waiting to get installed in spring. CAI and front and rear strut tower bars also installed. She's gonna get stored away for the winter in about a month. I'm getting my parents 1990 Mazda 626 as my second car and i'll use it as my winter beater. I have a full CarPc with 15" touchscreen installed and a Pioneer DEH-P8400Mp deck, but no subs, the cones are worn out, but haven't replaced them cause i've been spending money on performance upgrades instead I have 90% basic bodykit also waiting to get installed. Last winter hit her hard and she's gonna get a paint job in spring (basic idea of what my car should look like when it's done is in my sig), along with the headers installed, a high-flo cat or high-flo "cat", stainless brake and fuel lines, upgraded brakes pads and rotors. I have the cash saved up now to get that stuff done, but depending on how things go financially from how to spring, i should be able to save enough to get some ground control coilovers, mazdaspeed adjustable struts and some 17" gunmetal rims with good tires. The Rx-7 club organises a meet in Ottawa in spring every year and invites all other Mazda owners, i couldnt make it this year but went last year, but the car was still 100% stock. We cruised in these twisty moutain roads and it took everything for me and my car to keep up, but we did. I was the only FF car what went to the cruise, besides for a rx-7 owner that the car was still in the shop, he was driving a Nissan Sentra, but all other cars were Rx-7's, 1 gens, 2nd gens, a truboII and some FD3S's. It was the scariest and most exciting 3 hours of my life. Now with the new engine, i'm hoping to do a better job and keep up with the front of the pack, but only if i can get my 12yr old suspension upgraded before then, cause on those roads, just power alone can't help me. |

As with any project, it's a work in progress This year things didn't go well do things didn't go the way i wanted them to, but things are looking up, and i'll have a hell of alot of things to do in spring |

I have to admit I really like that MX3. The ventshade totally changes the overall figure. Nice site, too. |
Posted by: Nd4SpdSe Oct 17 2004, 10:45 AM |
Unfortunately that vent shade (technically called a hatch shade) was stolen over the winter, but they are really hard to find, it was only an option when the car was in production (until 1996 in Canada), so they don't manufacturer them anymore, but a company in the states sell a fibreglass replica of them, but i hate ordering stuff from over the border, brokerage always kills me. So i'm gonna get another one and paint it to match the car. Below is another guys car, i bought the sideskirts off of him cause his car got wrecked, besides for the change in spoiler that i wanna do, and some nice 17" gunemetal rims, thats what my car will look like |

I bet that's slick Nd4SpdSe. My mom has an MX-6 with the 2.5L K-series V6 in it and my uncle has an MX-3 that's a blast to drive. The two together sounds sweet! The Mazda K engines are the second smoothest V6s I've ever driven. Only the much newer Hyundai Delta V6 beats it out IMHO. |
Posted by: Neurogirl Oct 19 2004, 04:26 PM
Mx-6 poor bastard. POS cars, believe me I know. |
Posted by: Nd4SpdSe Oct 19 2004, 07:34 PM
It is a blast to drive. A common swap for those who don't have the cash is the KLDE from a North American 2.5L Mx-6/626/Probe/Millenia which is 165hp. The KLZE is the higher tuned Japanese version of it, pumping out the 200hp. My concept (photoshoped from other people's mx-3's and parts) for my Mx-3 in spring I'm thinking of chaning the color to a bluer type color and/or with a metallic white racing stripe on the passenger side, but i have several months to think about it |
Posted by: F22A6 Oct 19 2004, 07:40 PM |

*shrugs I liked the 944 shifters. I also think the color looks good too. Only thing I dont like are the back seats. I remember test driving one and my freind was siting in the back. He had to sit/lay sideways becuase ther was absolutely NO(read ZERO) leg room. lol |
Posted by: Iceman Oct 24 2004, 02:06 PM |
Yeah... I like the way the shifter is supposed to look, but the boot is literally falling apart. that's the only reason i'm replacing it. Yeah... there's around 8 inches of leg room in back with the front seats in reasonable positions. On the plus side they stay in good condition with no one sitting in them! |

Hello. I'm new here. I came across the site looking for the raws of the 7th+8th 4th stage eps and thought I'd pop by the forum and say hi. I drive an MA61. A cookie goes out to whoever knows that chassis code designates a 82-84 Toyota Celica-Supra (85 is MA67, I don't know why, ask Toyota). It has a DOHC 2.8L I6 making 169ft.lbs @ 4400 and 161hp @ 5600. Features: automatic air conditioning, 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension, power windows/locks/mirrors. I drove down from WA to CA to get mine for $500. No rust, and fairly well kept up. It's badly in need of a paint job cause one of the past owners got primered it white and got halfway through spray painting it flat black . Also it had an electrical fire in do to some crappy wiring of an A-pillar gauge pod, so it needs some interior pieces swapped. But that's what a parts car is for Eventually I'd like to go turbo, and if I feel like even more power down the road I might just drop in a 2JZ-GTE (3L I6 turbo from the 4th gen supra) or a 3UZ-FE (4.3L V8 from the lexus sc430). That's the beauty of a RWD car with an I6: tons of engine swap options. It's just a matter of getting motor mounts welded up and finding a transmission to mate it to. I might post pictures of my car later if I can get over the embarassment of how ugly it is right now. But for now here is a picture of a nice looking 84 Celica-Supra: -John |

I have 4 cars: 1969 Lincoln continental mk III on this car I'mgoing to replace the original, and truly hopeless motorcraft ignition, and carburator with megasquirt injection, or something like that... I'm sick of hearing the engine knocking , everytime it reaches running temperature... 1979 mustang hatchback (project) will have 4,6 4cam, twin turbo some day.... when I'm rich... Oh well. I've had it for 6 years, might as well wait a little longer 1986 mustang hatchback (daily driver until the next car on my list get's it's plates..) 1984 Toyota AE86 Corolla Coupe GT, or Levin, in Japan (hatchback) It has sparco springs, some really interesting dampers, a little rust, full racing exhaust, new 2. gen. engine (since the old, highly tuned one blew up), Azev A with 195/50/15, and a set of unidentified white rallywheels (also 195/50/15) Originally a panda, it was repainted dark blue by the previous owner. That's a really pretty colour on this car, really shoves the lines in the body that you can't see with white paint. Also, this car has some rust holes... that's why it's currently without plates. I'm also waiting for a walbro race fuel pump, and I'm getting a carbon hood, when I can afford it. Other things I'm going do do to this car includes a formula atlantic replica engine (I allready have an extra engine) |

God the first gen was ugly.. : pukes : But yeah, basically, the first gen was really boxy. Like, super boxy, and ugly. And I think they had non-fi engines, can't remember though, hell, I could be completely wrong. The second gen is a *little* more curvy and sleek. And the third is the del-Sol. |

I have an Nissan S14 Facelift, bought in 2003, for $15000. The car is build in 1999. I have do some little modifications, sportsprings from Eibach, sportshocks from Koni, rims from OZ 8x18" with 245/35/18 Falken tire, strutbar from Nismo, BC from Apexi, TT from HKS, gauges from Greddy, 3" custombuild muffler with high flow cat, blow off from Baylies, open aircleaner from K&N, WMIC from S15 Silvia and music is completely from Alpine with Nav, CD-Charger and color screen. With the normal setting, it puts out 270HP with scrambleboost a little more ~290HP and runs 250Km/h, there was an electronical cut and I don't know a way to go past. Pics on http://www.vandieken.de |

soo much work for nothing, just get a B6 or BP and turbo them....easier to intsall in a 323 since it uses a B-series engine also, b6's can hit 350hp (maybe more, i dont know) turbo'd, bp can hit 500hp turbo'd, with some work of cource, but the most i've seen a KLDE turbo'd is 300hp, and it's a custom install and custom turbo, not bolt-in like a B6/BP that have a basically bolt-on turbo option (some bpt's came in turbo like the AWD 323GTX @ 210hp stock) |

I had a 1990 Civic. I got rid of it after the headgasket blew on it a second time. |
Posted by: Sobær Nov 23 2004, 09:08 PM
Stock rims don't cost to much froma salvage, or even M3 rims, I'm sure. It's all gravy, as long as I don't think about, I don't think I'll puke again. |
Posted by: Sikarian Nov 24 2004, 04:16 AM |
Speaking of Rims, anyone reccomend anything to slap on that Firebird? |
Posted by: Sobær Nov 24 2004, 11:01 AM |
I dunno, man. When I look at rims, I look at rims that go good on my type of cars, lol, not lengthy cars like a Firebird. |
Posted by: Sikarian Nov 24 2004, 05:47 PM
Shit yeah that thing is lengthy. So long, I have to do like, a 20 point turn to get into a tight parking space. |
Posted by: Jabberwocky Nov 25 2004, 08:59 AM
17x11s is what I have for autocross use. Put some 315/35/17 on them and you have 12+ inch wide tires. Firebird can use the same offset(36mm) as the ZR1 vette without spacers. |

Hey guys, neither of my cars are really powerful at all nor drift cars... but I have (i'm 15, these are the cheap cars I can afford right now) : 1993 Toyota Tercel (4 speed, considering a 4efte turbo engine swap within the next year). It's pretty slow, 3ee engine for you toyota gurus, but really peppy. I've pretty much spent a couple years before gaining my license cleaning it up since it was really trashed the way I bought it (when you're 12-13 you really cant afford much). It's real clean, has 160k on it... rebuild the entire engine. New exhaust (4" fartcan muffler to piss off the neighbors), planning a 2" catback soon. Some minor stereo modifications, 14" ICW rims w/ BRAND NEW TIRES w00t!, and an Evo3 bodykit. I also have a project car I just bought, which I plan to drive within a few months : 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback (5 speed). Thinking of engine swaps, but don't want to pay a grand... looking at some integra motors. Everythings stock, I just bought it... planning on going for that JDM look. PICS coming soon. In the future I'd really like a faster car, but something older and affordable for a youngster like myself. I am looking at 240sx's, and some of the older Integras. |

I dont know why everyone complains about driving in the rain. |

w000t another chebby driver i drive a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta |
Posted by: EnergyStream Nov 29 2004, 07:58 AM |
1997 240sx, picked it up for 5000. It was a manhattan car so the bumpers are all messed up and there are a few dings. The bumpers really do need to be replaced so probrably get aftermarket, maybe c-west or version select. But definately getting jdm spoiler. Since I'm planning on getting a kit, I might as well wait to paint it, especially if I decide to roll the fenders. Hopefully when I start working next year I'll be able to buy some stuff. Looking to get.. Aem intake Apex N1 exhaust or Greddy Ti MSD Ignition SPLparts Coilovers WhiteLine or ST sways Cusco Strut Bars whoever tie/tension rods Clutch/Flywheel Maybe a Koyo Alum Radiator ... yea all that if I get a job quick enough |

finally got my car. Its a mazda miata 91. Really cool, got it for 2400$ but there is a little problem with the right wheel, the tire is touching somewhere in the wheel well. It should cost about 300$ to repair, after that its no biggie. I will post up pics of it soon. |

sweet!! What color? I want either a Miata or an Integra. |

Miata's are nice.. I had a '94. Congrats on the find. I picked mine up for $2,500. I like the newer ones body styling more. |

i like the look, its a jdm thing., plus more air into the cooler than if i blocked it up front hehe. |
Posted by: VRr1FD Jan 7 2005, 11:15 AM |
more air onto the radiator/engine bay = better. |
Posted by: AJS13 Jan 7 2005, 06:16 PM
Why is it a JDM thing??? Wouldnt you put its main use first rather than its a JDM thing, I know I would, who cares if its JDM? My car is JDM, would you like to be my friend? |
Posted by: Ayako Watanabe Jan 7 2005, 06:23 PM

aahhhhh my eyes^ the camry hahahaha j/k it looks odd though.........and if u remove the mufflers instead of switching them u get more horsepower u know........ as for ur plans on a cf hood and wing well for that kinda money you could turbo the damn thing. im just sayin thats all. |
Posted by: Neurogirl Jan 9 2005, 08:36 PM
so if the JDM thing was to Take a gun to your head and kill yourself would you do it? Be your own person dont do it just because its a "thing" and if you do do it have a reason to back it up with.... and no im sorry its hideous looking, if car manufactures wanted liscence plates to be placed on the side of cars or indented into cars on an angle they would make cars that way. |
Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Jan 9 2005, 09:15 PM |
