You can, but it is not recommended. There's a lot of 4-door saloons to choose from anyway. You'll have to look high and low carefully for them. Okay Shafz. Steve Coogan it is! Pester Jeremy if you can

I was flicking through the small ads in the back of the paper when I saw "2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII RS, Scotia White, RallySport model, excellent condition, well looked after, £16740 ONO. For a car with only 17,000 miles on the clock, i thought this was a bargain, I went down to the dealership who advertised it and saw the car in person I bought it and realised it needed an oil change, while there, HKS supplied me with a racing flywheel and carbon driveshaft, perfect for increasing acceleration. Bringing me to 314BHP. Shortly after this I was sent to the Tokyo R246 for an epic race, When I saw the starting grid I was 50% confident and 50% worried There was a corvette, a superbird muscle car, even an audi RS4! How was I meant to keep up with them? By the Semicircle Curve I was ahead, but glancing through my side window seeing the big Mercedes-Benz AMG right up beside me! After the chicane the Corvette GrandSport and I were neck and neck But by the home straight I was soon ahead of the pack That was one lap down, on the final lap on the final corner, the M3 CSL came out of nowhere, making it extremely close, I knew I had to give my all down the home straight By the finish line, I could not believe it, it was immensely close, I looked beside me and saw I had won! I finished with a total time of 4'13.092, The M3 around 1 tenth of a second slower. That was a close race, Cannot wait for the next challenge. Well Coogan, when it comes to long distance driving, I'll be happily listening to the radio and enjoying my A/C. Can you? No, because they were removed to make your car lighter. Enjoy the heat. And even if I weigh 2 tonnes, its whats inside that counts, twin turbos vs your lone single

It would be preferable, but I don't think it is a specific rule that says it has to be like that. The whole thing about this challenge is that each actor tries to pick a weapon that would suit them, in this case I went by one of the later episodes of MotorWeek which lined up the Lancer and the Lancer Evo became a natural choice. You should try to do the same, the main thing and best thing to do is to try and be original, there are plenty of 4WD sedans unless my memory is faulty like the Caldina GT-Four.

Actually we call it American custom... We do it all the time. Yes he can have my Vectra and the V6 if he wants. Although it will need some minor work prior to running it though... (Hint: look at the previous Top Gear challenge)

Well according to Pat it would take a brand new engine as the old one had rusted pretty badly and had blown for some reason. Furthermore the chassis will have to undergo some serious welding work and of course some new paint and a thorough underbody cleaning to get rid of the oil from the engine blow. Do that and it may be usable.

Hope this VXR8 (Commodore SS) can do much more... At least the Aussies got the formula right, and showed how an American engine should be used. (Russell Peters mode)Confucious says: America can make good, good engine, but make bad, bad cars. |

The difference is, May, that my Carlton was tuned by Lotus. Whereas your Commodore just had a Corvette engine shoved in it, and it isnt even as powerful as a Corvette. One thing is for sure though. Our Super Saloons have these rallycars licked on the blacktop

That's a roger! Well, keeping with the all white and sleek looks of The Stig I've decided on the Impreza STi Spec C, in white of course. It's not the lightest car around, nor the most powerful. I still think I can push it into a good result. OK, OK, I know there is already one Impreza, but it's not the same model.

James May: Well, seeing that The Stig and Jeremy seemed to have a tryst of some sort... let's head on to the next challenge.... 2nd Challenge 4-Door saloons in Japan, preferably bigger ones, are often favoured by the underground group called the Yakuza due to their spaciousness, and even performance. However, during the first challenge, we may have angered the Yakuza that was controlling the area, and we have to make a mad dash for another prefecture. Hence forth, with the Yakuza hot on your tails... (All Normal, difficulty 4, 2 laps...) -Midfield Raceway -Grand Valley Speedway East -Special Stage Route 5 Here's a catch... in order to successfully escape from the Yakuza, on the last map... you need to have at least a five second advantage. Which means... you must get first, else you'll have to do a bit more racing somewhere... The Management will contact you for the third challenge... and the location to rendezvous altogether. And yes, if you can... try to get the overall times... James May: Oh no... As Captain Slow... I'll have to do something about it... AND NOT GET LOST! Maybe it's just me but I haven't seen the deadline being mentioned earlier in this thread. Thus I wasn't aware of it either.
