Are the other guys from Akina Speed Stars ever having a real battle for once? Both Iketani and Itsuki improved a lot since the beginning and we don't know anything else from Kenji. These characters have been around for so long that they barely have anything to do with street racing right now. It would be nice to see a sidestory with them facing another team... It's always Taklumi or Keisuke most of the times, with a few exceptions here and there. Even the last time Iketani had a battle, it was all about Takumi in the end...

That's a good question, really. I would love to see a Speed Stars side story!

This. Ever since First Stage I've wanted to see Itsuki whup some dude's ass in the Turbo 85. You have no idea how badly I want to see that.

i wouldn't mind seeing a few speed star races myself.

@Nomake
i'm pretty sure Itsuki wouldn't chicken out of a race, but who would he go against? Thunder Fire? or some one from the speed stars?

They should totally have Thunder Fire come back, yeah. That was the group with the purple 180SX yeah? I wouldn't mind seeing them show up at Akina for a battle.

The 240SX was what the North American market got. In Japan it's the 180SX. So we're talking about the same chassis at least. smile.gif

@Nomake
i know next to nothing about the low end Nissans, i'm more american muscle era oriented, late 60s early 70s, and some of the 50s too, so its not uncommon for me to be wrong about newer models tongue.gif

as for going against Thunder Fire, it would be short cause that purple 180 would probabley crash again tongue.gif

I wonder if Shigeno would let the Speedstar members improve somehow. From the first to the fifth stage they never got much screentime in races. All we see are three guys working/ hanging out in the gas station, calling themselves the Lonely Drivers. At night they do go up Mount Akina, but they have not been challenged to a race for a long time. Yes, its time the Speedstars get some action too. laugh2.gif

It's only been a year. You don't go from Iketani in First Stage bad to Takumi First Stage good overnight.

They should race and be able to defeat any of the old baddies. Like Nakazato or Shingo.

Why was the name changed to "240" in the states anyway? Does it have anything to do with brand familiarity (that is, people know the 240Z very well here)?

When the car was first brought out in Japan, it was a 1.8L variant. When it was introduced to the North American market, it already had the 2.0L upgrade while in Japan those upgraded models still retained the 180sx badge.. May have something to do with it.

Has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the engine. Same with the Z, in fact.

The 180SX has a 1.8L engine. Us 'Mericans can't respect tiny turbo motors so they gave us a truck engine instead, a 2.4L, in the 240SX.

The Fairlady S30Z had a 2.0L engine. Us 'Muricans want POWAA so they gave us a truck engine instead, a 2.4L, in the 240Z.

Nissan likes doing that. It's all about displacement. cool.gif

Google is your friend.

I do, however, understand and accept your love for American muscle of the good ol' days. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

In Japan, car tax is based on displacement. In America, it's not, so there's no reason not to use a bigger engine.

A bigger engine makes it easier to make a car with similar power but better driveability, gas mileage, and emissions.

There is no replacement...

The 180sx came in both 1.8 and 2.0 liter versions (ca18de(t) and sr20de(t)) smile.gif

aren't we getting a little too sidetracked here about the topic?

Anywho, seeing as how 5th Stage's opening features a drifting s13 and ae85 together... ITSUKI VS IKETANI anyone?
