Honda made one of these a while back. These car companies can't just compete with cars, now they have to go to robots.

Walking up and down stairs is hard for a robot. Honda when making Asimo had 3 versions before the latest one. They had to teach it to walk, then inprove on that, then get it to walk up, then down stairs. You have to get so much things right with it.

All thoses thing a human (or even a pet) does with ease is quite difficult to program in a robot. And living tissues are able to self improve (ie get stronger or more agile) while a machine can't without outside help (and probably for a long time to come). Making a 2 legged robot that can go up and downstairs without falling is already a great feat.

The Toyota robot looks like a chick. Maybe they made it so the Honda one could have a robot girly friend. laugh.gif
