Kaz-san tweeted that a big DLC pack, named Spec II, is inbound for the 3rd week of october. He didn't say what it'll contain, nor a price.

but here's a guess:
  • More premium/Rm car models
  • More tracks
  • Updates to B-spec/track editor/...

and it'll cost about €10 I guess here.
wanted to add a sarcasm poll... whistling.gif

All i want is an online time trial leaderboard..

I mean c'mon.. they have it in prologue. Why not GT5?

Ditto

I just hope Polyphony Digital actually add more premium vehicles that they claimed they will do last November.

Here's hoping they actually release a premium AE86?

I'd love to see Ebisu circuit, but I'm 99.9% sure that'll never be included. : ( More D1 tracks would be really sweet though.

QUOTE
When Gran Turismo 5 launched almost a year ago now, Kazunori Yamauchi, the game's creator, promised fans clutching their copies of the Real Driving Simulator, that the launch of the eagerly awaited title was not the end of the journey for the game but the start.

True to that statement, since GT5 launched Yamauchi-san and the Polyphony team have been closely monitoring the feedback of the dedicated and discerning GT5 community. As a result of this, we have seen significant support for GT5 in the form of regular functionality updates.

Today, I am very pleased to announce details of Functionality Update 2.0 which is the most sizable since the game launched. The update will be available for download on the 11th October. Of course the real bonus of all of this new content is the fact that it's all absolutely free!

Here's the rundown on what you can expect to see in the update:

Firstly all standard cars will now feature an interior view*, the level of detail will vary from car to car, but now for the first time you will be able to literally get behind the wheel of all the cars in the game.

Next is the great news that players can now save their progress during endurance races and return to the fray at a time of their own choosing.

For fans of the stateside motoring championship NASCAR, there is a package of 11 NASCAR 2011 cars. There has also been improvement to the weather settings in the game and now players can incrementally adjust weather settings for race start and race end.

Additional features of this update are:
-Photo Travel Mode updates
-Shortening of load times and improved menu response
-Improved car physics simulation, further evolved A.I.
-Improved and enhanced user interface
-Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheels
-New features in the Online Lounge

As if this massive update was not enough, I can also advise you of more great news – very shortly we will be sharing with you details of a forthcoming package of exciting DLC for GT5 that will include new vehicles and tracks plus a host of other additional new content.   The news will be incoming to PlayStation Blog and gran-turismo.com very soon so keep your ear to the ground.**

Upon looking at the screens, I noticed more RM-style cars in the first screen. Seems to be a GT1/GT3 style GTR in front, an Mazdaspeed kit on an FD, 2010 Impreza widebody, and behind the FD I think it's an R34 GTR

*It's the same as in GT Portable, open tops can see inside and the rest is just a black void.

**this has caught my eye, more cars and track underway.

*EDIT* This spec II update is free BTW, about the extra track/car DLC is not sure if it's free.

Also one of the new cars is also the http://www.gtplanet.net/kazunori-yamauchi-team-take-class-victory-at-2011-nurburgring-24-hours/

No way. There's still a lot of Japanese tracks that could be added that are awesome. We just have the famous ones.

Replay forward/rewind.

YES.

If they added after-tuner body-kit similar like Initial D, it would be purrfecct :/ , the GT workshop only isn't enough.

Spec II is out today, it's just over 1GB.

and the new intro it brings with it is a preview of the DLC that's on the way.

like Spa Francorchamps and more RM models it seems

Full list of DLC http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5/dlc/

Well, I'm happy about Spa being added. Everything else is just extra fluff.

I don't care for the outfits or paint. As for the touring cars.. I can just tune normal version of one of those cars and get the same performance. Minus the looks of course.

So just what is the impression of the Spec II release? Haven't heard anything at all about this as of late and if it's really improved a number the issues that came with the initial release.
