Hi! I'm new to the world of Initial D, and i'm also new to the world of anime (never really took an interest in it... of course, untill it started to involve cars!)

I've seen a DVD on sale on ebay, and I'm very tempted to buy it, as I don't have the time.... (nor the download capacity sad.gif) to download all of the episodes. Just wanting to know though, is it a fake?

It's called "Special Box" and claims that it holds 3rd stage the movie, plus a "Special Disc" but its very sparse with the info... what exactly... is on this special disc? and how long is the movie?

So is it fake? (doesn't REALLY matter... as long as it's DVD quality...) and more importantly... Is it worth it?

Thanks guys.

These DVDs are called Hong Kong versions. They are much cheaper than American DVDs but the quality is not all that great(its not like it will be much better on the computer). The DVD is geniune, however I believe that you can find the entire series for about $65. I got mine off ebay. Just look up Initial D DVD collection. They do work, they do have English subs too.

The movie is about two hours long. The special disc is really cool. It has a lot of behind the scenes information including stud voice actor Takehito Koyasu. It also has the voice actor of Itsuki cruise around in a real honest to goodness Hachii-Roku with who else...Tsuchiya Keiichi. It was awesome to see Itsuki's VA pee in his pants.

Sounds good. I think i'll go for it.

Mainly the reason being I can get it for about $15 AUD (or around $8 USD) whilst I see them on websites for $29 USD on sale!

Someone else is selling the entire set on DVD (7 disc) for $115 AUD.

If it was the real versions (are they?), I'd consider it but then I noticed i'd have to pay an extra $20 on top for shipping...

Thats a total of $130 AUD, or about $79.23 USD

I haven't seen these available anywhere else in Australia (although i've only been looking for a few days)

Also, it's good to see another MR2 fan around wink2.gif I myself own two AW11's, a 85' N/A and a 86 Supercharged. They're fun cars biggrin.gif

Oh! and I must add after seeing this in another thread...

Do these DVD's have English Subtitles? because I somewhat flunked Japanese class and can't remember a word of it.

Thanks.

Yes they do have English subtitles, it is the greatest translation, however I think you will get by. But YOU DO NOT WANT THE 7 DVD SET!! Get the 10 DVD set that comes with 1st stage, 2nd stage, 3rd stage movie, extra stage and battle stage.

Also check this ebay site out:

Nice! I love the Mk2 SW20. Who cares if it's not a turbo? It still is pleasure to drive!

I hope to get a Mk2, or a Spyder someday in the future myself, although i've always been a fan of the gutsy rugged little AW11's, there's something about 80's car's that I just love. Which is probably why I was so excited when I first found out about Initial D and the Trueno AE86. (Interestingly enough, Takumi's speedo even makes the same sound as my AW11 when travelling over 105kph)

Yeah, we have alot of cars in this family... our others include a Silvia (S13) a Toyota Soarer. (known as the Lexus outside of Japan)
(Plus a Mitsubishi Magna and a Holden Camira which aren't worth talking about.)

Anyway, as for the DVD set, it looks great, but with the added shipping cost to Australia, I don't know if it will be worth it. I might get the special box for now, and scout out for any other ones I can find more locally. Thanks for all your help. biggrin.gif

I got it. At least the ones I bought are in great condition. Good sound, good everything much better then the ones on the computer so it's all up to how much you want to pay for it.

Hong Kong rips eh?

My friend has the exact same version. It works just fine like the original, though it's cheaper and so forth.

Considering it's an overseas Asia version, it's bound to be cheaper. If you got the original Japanese version DVD, it would be much more expensive.

Hong Kong DVDs are good, but before u buy, check the seller's rating first.

Ahem.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some BLOODY INGRATE HAD TO OUTBID ME 3 SECONDS FROM THE AUCTION CLOSING!!!!!

ARGHHHH!!!!!!!

*wipes spit from mouth*

Well, anyway, this means I didn't get my DVD, Bah!...

There's another guy selling the entire set on DVD for $115 (AU) plus a $20 (AU) shipping charge. (1st stage, 2nd stage and movie... are there others out there besides battle stage?)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...0&category=2290

These are quite clearly bootlegs... but I don't really mind as long as they are worth it. Are they? Keep in mind that these are HARD to find in Australia (anyone got any clues? or sites that have free international shipping?)

It would equate to about $79 US... I don't particularily want to pay this much...

Anyone got any ideas?
