thats not the point. Have you actually watched the butchered english dub!? Its not just an insult to the series, but all anime! Americanizing any anime is an insult to the fans especially since a good percentage of anime fans are young adults that do understand the original story line. By americanizing it, they're insulting your intelligence as a fan.

And for the more mature and racing fan like us, thats why Initial D was created for, so leave it alone. |

The "popped" stuff seemed a lot less wierd after that but.. KT? Isn't that a little stereotypical california surfer? and Ry (Ryousuke)? Uh.. retard.. I wouldn't mind the names so much if they left the anime be on it's own. |

It was a riot the first time my brother heard that awful "'Nitialiiiiiiiize!" on the english dub. I got them mostly for the jp dub, but when Crappy Movie Night comes up, I can just switch to the "Tricked Out" version and let the laughs begin. "Coolio?" - Itsuki |

You can bet that they'll have the license soon, though. They're currently working on (butchering) 3rd Stage. Oh well, at least they make good 5.1 tracks for both languages on their DVDs.

Group: Advanced Members Posts: 875 Member No.: 14,161 Joined: Oct 31st 2005 Location: Australia | I have to admit that i watched TP version first n i thought what was every1 complaining about. Then i saw the fansubs, "now i get it". And also the manga, i bought the first TP volume and felt somethin wasnt quite rite and sure enough wen i saw the scanned ones i was like . I dnt think butchered is a strong enough word. I think instead of taking the tym to do it properly they just shi#ed in the presses. Thats just me im a purist wen it comes to anime(especially ID). |

IDW Regular Member Group: Members Posts: 227 Member No.: 6,353 Joined: Mar 27th 2005 Location: San Diego, CA | I remember buying the TP Initial D DVDs two years ago, to start off my understanding of Initial D. I was aware of the name changes, but I NEVER expected them to change the music. After I bought the 2nd volume, I thought to myself "wtf was I thinking? Since when do they use recycled teen slang? And since when does Itsuki talk like a wannabe thug?". Bah! I think you get the point! I was disgusted at that moment. I sold both volumes to my local Gamestop and bought the HK ones at Ebay. The only TP DVD anime I have are the entire GTO series. Of all american anime companies, why Tokyopop? I think ADV Films, Urban Vision, or especially Geneon Entertainment, should translate Initial D. At least those companies are kind to their anime. Now if only the entire series were re-dubbed by one of these companies. That would be pretty cool, wouldn't it? We would have the original names, original car sounds, original story arc, original music, original everything. But all in all, just wishful thinking. In short, F**K TOKYOPOP!!!! Peace! More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | The TP DVDs are worthwhile only because of the fan-friggin-tastic Japanese 5.1 dub they included. It's MUCH better than the echoey dubs I've heard on other versions. Plus, a few of the extras are somewhat entertaining, albeit a little stupid. |

If the box set you're talking about is different, then I'd shy away from it when you can just get the dvds for a much better price. |
