OK, over at onother forums someone claimed Bunta's car is NOT the 22B, but the STi version V. Now, I don't know the mechanical differences, but I did some research and look at bunta's front end, mainly the lower bumper:
user posted image

Now have a look at the front end of a Version V

Finally, the 22B:

Now, is it me or does his front end look more like a 22B then a Version V?

it looks like a mixt of the 2, the air trap from the V and the bumper from 22b

In the intro, it looks like a Version V STi (has the STi V front bumper), but in ep 7 it has a 22b front bumper, and what apprears to be large fender flares like the 22b. So my conclusion is that its a STi version V type-R with an aftermarket 22b front bumper (since it doesn't have a 22b hood). (I believe in the Arcade game it says Buntas car is a version V STi as well)...

We've been having this discussion in this topic... https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=8994

Edit: awddrifter has the answer. Thanks.

Yeah... so just to clairify better...

-aftermarket 22b front bumper
- STi version V grille
- STi version V hood

Therefore, the car is a WRX STi type-R version V with a 22b bumper.

besides... if it was a 22b... it wouldn't say "WRX" on the back in big letters....

BTW... incase anyone didn't know... the designer of the McLaren F1, Peter Stevens, also designed the Impreza 22b smile.gif

i'm no subaru historian, but look at that bumper. sleep.gif

Peter Stevens designed the bodywork of the McLaren F1, so maybe Gordon Murray designed the mechanical parts. Becuase I know they both worked on the car...

Rumor has it that Bunta's WRX is based off of the creater's WRX witch is the Type R with the WRC bumber (I'm assuming its the 22B).

i'm so doing that if i ever get a GC8V.

i knew something seemed funny, for Colin McCrae 2004 for the xbox n pc, the 22b is one of the bonus cars u get in the game...

haha i've been doing my own drift replays by playing through asphalt rallies, a.k.a. France, Spain, Japan...especially Japan, i can do a gutter grip on the right corners w00t2.gif

it's so stupid slow though, 5 gear tranny n it puts out such low power...i'm guessing the GC8V is better power wise ain't it? ermm2.gif

STI ver 5 v a 22B?

22B no questions asked

http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdoc...Ry (Ryousuke)/history.html

here is a little history lesson on the STIs.

The issue with a 22B is not only did it cost gobs of cash, but only a few were made.

All STI's prior to the Ver VII had 5spd trannies.

Wow nice site, got heaps of info on all the WRX models from the STI ver1-5, 22Bs to special editions like the McRae and 555 special editions.
Highly recommended for people who wanna learn a bit about the history of one of the greatest rally cars and the specs for each.

maybe that solve the myths for having the 22b stock bumper in the anime.
and now.. the opposit way... a 22b have hood of Ver.5

In the manga, it say that bunta mobile is a ver.5 but looking at the manga, the GC8V look more like a 22b(V22 c259) 2door STI WRX rather then the normal ver.5 with 4 door. After all, i think it more like a 22b as it suite bunta(Having link in the racing world) type of pple.. like having a grade A engine(u should know tongue.gif) as replacement, so no doubt that he can get limited edition of 22b whistling.gif

edited: btw.. 22b have a bigger engine displacment 2.2L compare to ver.5 2L engine. blink.gif In singapore, seldom see pple driving a WRX but his SUb-version... wTS of imprezza(smaller engine and others), how sad... buying car in this country very expensive...At once pple say.. singapore 2nd hand car can buy a new benz in some country. sad.gif

as usual bunta wants to be unique although he did say that he dosen't want a car with big flashy wings so the 22b is the way to go

But bunta's car doesn't have MASSIVE fender flares like the 22B.

No flares no 22B, it's that simple.

Bunta has a STI ver V that's why it's a GC8V the V = version V = version 5

Bunta clearly has a 22B bumper, but is clearly not a 22B

How do u determine the Massive fender flares for GC8V and the 22B?

from the anime or website?

A couple of GC8 STI's both coupe and sedan both showing lack of flares.

clearly bunta does not have the flares on the fenders.
Therefore he does not have a 22B.
The gold wheels are a version V exclusive, but you can get wheels anywhere.

As the man said, no side fender flares, no 22B. I didn't even think abotu it being a 22B. It actually didn't look like one to me to begin with. The bonnet is different too.
