Linky

Simply put certain states believe that President Obama's re-election marks a man who is "out of touch" with their needs/demands. That's the jist of it. Some mentioned that the people who voted for him voted solely on an ethnic standpoint.

Wondering if anyone here has read/seen anything about this.

Please keep this mature.

Well nothing's going to come of it. Anyone who thinks any state will succeed from the union is crazy. So, just so I can understand what we're talking about then, what is this thread about?

I'd move to Texas if they secede.

Regardless, him being out of touch with reality is one thing, sure. Another thing to note is that a number of votes I'm sure were like my mother's, a naive vote to let him finish what he started, whatever good anyone thinks that'll do. That's like the guy raping you giving you an option to stop it halfway through and then telling him he might as well finish since he's already halfway done.

And as for the racial vote? Totally true. I know for a fact that a number of customers at my job voted for him simply because of that fact. Highly immigrant minorities voted for him because he's giving citizen's rights to illegals, etc... He spent his entire first 4 years setting himself up for 4 more, and that's about all he did...

That and ruin the American automotive industry.

This is not news. If you read it you'll see that it has nothing to do with states seceding. The headline is total sensationalism. All this is are some butthurt individuals posting a formal request for attention. Nothing will happen. Topic over.

This also happened after the 2004 and 2008 elections, nothing new. Also, there's a petition to deport all of those that signed these, which is hilarious.

LOL @ people butthurt over a more or less democratic process. I'm sure that would have worked well when Athens voted whether or not to fight the Persians. I guess all the people who voted to surrender to Persia and were butthurt that the majority voted to fight can just make a new city state 'aThence' and they could surrender to the Persians...

I for one welcome the coming Civil War; or as my marketing team is telling me- Civil War Episode II, the Clone Candidate!

I swore to myself after last Tuesday I was going to stay out political discussions for awhile but I guess I'll break that here.

Not going to happen. If you don't like what your government is doing then write your representative, although I have found that to be less effective in the divided state the country is in right now with everyone falling long party lines.

After 2004, there was a great deal of panic on one side aswell. Unfortunately, I think we find ourselves as a country in a state where both parties are too far stuck in their own ideology to find compromise and actually seek pragmatic solutions to the countries real problems. The president has been no exception to this either in my opinion these past 4 years.

On a personal note. I don't believe the presidents views about expanding the role of government and trying to spend our way out of our economic woes are the right solutions. It was that reasoning that led me to vote for the alternative. Secession to me is just going overboard and I would rather continue to challenge the opposing sides argument through the proper forum called voting.

I do agree with Spaz about peoples reasons for voting for a particular candidate but also have to say that's been the case with every election.

Of course, whether you should stay out of political discussions or not probably hinges on what you meant by voting for 'the alternative'.

The vote matters less than the reasons behind it, plain and simple. Doesn't matter who someone voted for, if they have solid reasoning, regardless of my opinion of their candidate, they voted properly and that's what counts.

Which is why I wrote in this year. I knew nothing would come of it but I wanted my voice heard, as little as it matters in the end.

Welcome to the democratic process. Obama won in a sweeping victory that was predicted weeks before the election, people cried about it like they did four years ago, and we find out that the world keeps turning regardless.

I would continue, but political discussion is nothing but a minefield ready to be stepped on.

So which one of them is the Batcave, do you think? troll.gif

I'd love Ron Paul to win but it has nothing to do with the ridiculousness you just posted. It's also never, ever going to happen. Moving right along...

The US Constitution is actually quite vague in the legality of secession, but most lawyers agree that it is illegal to do so. There have been a lot of attempts in the past, and all have been stopped. The only one that almost came to complete fruition was via the military actions of the Civil War. This means that the only path to success currently would be for the unhappy states to go to war with the federal government.

This is kind of strange, considering that we're only a "perfect union" if all parties associated are working in harmony. Outright forcing membership in the nation is only bound to cause resentment, which it obviously is. Many outside forces are causing a stalemate. We can't fight each other because it would mean a wonderful opportunity for our enemies to come in and wipe us out.

Would you support open warfare in the name of splitting from the US? This is a good subject to get into, being respectful of the political and moral beliefs of others, mind you.
