"Going left" didn't prevent you from Daedric. Your own level prevented it, since perks do not accumulate after level 50. If you got Dragon smithing at level 49, you'd be able to select Daedric with your last perk when you hit level 50.

Is that why I've been trying to get it for the last 13 levels? Hm...
And check again buddy, you still get perks after level 50.

The recent patch must have added more perks. Originally, and this is straight from Bethesda, perks stopped being given after level 50 and you leveled up MUCH slower.

No, I have the original copy for PC, it was always like this. But anyways, I really wish that the main storyline could have been longer, it feels too short for me.

From what I gathered we still get the perks AFTER LV,50, Since lv.50 it's the soft cap, after that leveling is more difficult, the max level capped at lv.70, the official guide book said lv.80 though, so it's either lv. 70 or 80

Unpatched 360 version, level 65 and still gettin' them sweet, sweet perk points.

Well then they must have changed their minds before the game released.

I'm still level 46 because I keep buying other games that keep me from playing Skyrim.

You're welcome, sir. These games do tend to be buggy, so I won't play them on anything but PC just in case. But 'just in case' always turns into 'lolz I'm god now'

I had no idea that you NEEDED dwarven, orcish and ebony to be able to select Daedric. That is a stupid game design choice.

You SHOULD be able to select it after getting Dragon smithing.

Except that Daedric smithing is Heavy Armour only, and so makes sense to be at the end of the HA smithing tree?

However, considering the smithing constellation is a LOOP, it makes sense that you could go around it. It's the only constellation with that pattern, which can make it confusing.

Leather helmet = yes yes.

I used to be a regular Nord like you, but one day I took a load in the ass.

So last night, i managed to get daeric shield from a chest, i guess its possible to get, just really rare i guess.

*update* apparently Daedric weapon start appearing in chest randomly when player reach lv.45+

10 levels to go then. Still wondering where to get the daedra hearts for the smithing though. A friend told me I could buy them in Winterhold, anybody know any other place?

Enthir in the College of Winterhold sells two at a time, and restocks his selection every two days.

Alchemy shopkeepers have a chance to stock them once you reach level 25, although some will sell them earlier.

There are a lot more in the game, but they're either on enemies or in specific locations, meaning they won't respawn. Dremora Kynreeves, for instance, always drop a daedra heart because they're lesser daedra. Good luck running into one very often, though.

If those are the mage bastards, then I ran into around 5 of them doing the Star of Azura side quest. So much rage to be had. So I guess Winterhold it is.
