Isn't this the way events have been set up since the sport first started? Not disagreeing with you. Unless you only attend the special events at the end, it's quite a pain to spectate. Given the nature of the sport, I'm not sure how else you can improve that other then making stage events closer together in location and shortening the events as a whole but incorporate longer stages.
Speed always seemed to have decent or atleast fair coverage of the WRC. Not this half hour summary crap they do now.

We used to poop in a little building outside with a moon carved into the door. My point? As we progress as a species, we realize that some things aren't as good as we once thought. Yes. it is the nature of the sport, but it's outdated and WRC has done nothing to attempt to revamp it. As people lose interest more and more, WRC just sits around with their thumb up their ass letting their sport die.

Really couldn't agree more on your point. It would be nice if they could get some people that can actually improve the venue's but just add my own two cents, it's also reached the point that the FIA could loosen some of the restrictions that came about after the sport was at its peak. The technology has caught up. I still like the sport but I don't follow the WRC with the same interest I used to. I've found myself following the IRC and even Rally America to an extent.

Sebastion Loeb takes Rally Finland after Mikko Hirvonen blew his chances on day 1 after going into a tree. dry.gif He still battled back to be in the top 10 after starting Day 2 in 36th place. Don't know where Citroen gets all its luck and Sebastion Ogier pretty much ensures them as a dominating team for a long time to come. Unless he signs with someone else.
The way it looks, Loeb is going to retire before someone finally dethrones him. Mikko Hirvonen isn't the driver to do it in my opinion. Latvala might with a few more years experience. Petter Solberg has done surprisingly well under a private team given the nightmare of a time he had with Subaru in their later years. If he gets picked up by a good team, he could seriously challenge Loeb next year. I wouldn't be surprised if VW makes him an offer.

Hate being practically the only one to post in here. Some changes will be coming to the current teams for 2012 that should make the competition much more open I think.

Sebastion Ogier has signed with Volkswagen which is slated to enter full time in 2013 I believe.

Jari-Matti Latvala replaces Mikko Hirvonen as the lead driver for Ford and in turn, Ford signed Petter Solberg as the number 2 driver for the Ford World Rally Team next season.

Mikko Hirvonen signed with Citroen which is an interesting turn of events.

The John Cooper Mini looks like a real beast on tarmac and that becomes multiplied with Dani Sordo on the team.

Monte Carlo will also return as the 2012 season debuting event.

I hate being the only person basically posting in this thread anymore but hopefully that changes in the near future. I actually like the fact that the season (so far) isn't following the same tune that has dominated it for almost the past 6 years.

Also, ouch to Mikko Hirvonen. His Citroen getting caught with an illegal clutch and being forced to give up his 1st place podium finish. Good for Petter Solberg on fighting back to 4th and getting a 3rd place podium in Portugal.

I miss Speed Vision as well. No idea where to stream it from. HD Channel was broadcasting but I don't know if there covering it this year like they did last year. They do post the events on Youtube though.

For those interested in seeing how past seasons unfolded. There are WRC season reviews posted on Youtube that cover each season from 1983 to the present. They're all divided into parts but are well organized.

One from 1999.

Of the few I watched, I have to say 1995 was the most exciting and really makes light of just how downhill the sport has gone in the last decade. sad.gif
