To be honest, I have no idea how a Harley engine swap works. I know 95% of sportsbike powered cars do not have reverse though. Hell, my cousins Legends racecars don't even have a reverse gear(Yamaha 1250 powered).

Legends cars are friggin awesome!

Grassroots motor sports has been building a motorcycle powered Berkley for a few issues now. They just finished it in this months issue, the one problem is (if you are building it for racing) getting it in the right class. Great for real lightweight cars you might be able to hook it up to a real car transmission, on that ford it seems they made an adapter plate.

I think it's a manual. I might have to look up some service manual diagrams to make sure since it's been a long time since I had a Mazda 121 (Ford used 121 design & put a Festiva badge on it). I think I do see a clutch cable in the photo.

Probably not the original gearbox from the 1.3L Festiva though. More likely to be the gearbox from a 1.6 or 1.8L fwd Mazda 323.

& Vivi-chan?? Haha, you've named it. smile.gif thas ok, I've named mine. Tenchu-chan, though next choice would of been Okami.

Yeah. I really don't want to ditch the AWD system. I bought an RX-R just because it's AWD (along with forced induction - and cuz it's a Subaru). If I'd wanted a RWD vehicle from the start, I would've got a cappuchino or beat.

My Vivio's transmission is very similar to that Festiva's (along with most FWD/AWD car transmission). In fact, my Vivio has more in common to a Lancer than an Impreza. LOL.

LOL Vivi-chan. Actually, a friend of mine from Canada originally named her 'Blaze', but my girlfriend over here named her Vivi-chan (it's a play on the car's original name, Vivio).

Essentially a transverse fwd gearbox with a 90degree transfer carrier grafted on to make it AWD. Like Celica GT4, Lancer EVO/Galant GSR, Pulsar GTiR & Familia GTX/GTR.

http://www.awd.ee/ Has some info comparing a lot of manufacturers AWD systems. Interesting is how the longitudal engined Ford Sierra Cosworth compared to the typical Subaru. The Ford isn't a particular elegant way of doing it but I guess it has advantages in weight distribution as the front wheels can be positioned further out in front of the engine, or in the case of the Sierra, centrally right under the engine.
