Yea, that is pretty dumb. You steal cars you can flip, you cant flip a Z. That's adding insult to injury, your car was stolen by total f**king idiots.

It wasn't stolen for profit, everyone knows that.

Most likely stolen for a joyride, or something.

Man, that's so awful. But like Apex said, glad to see you're looking up about this. Here's to hoping things go well, Don. console.gif

You can flip a Z, but it's gotta be a 350Z or a 370Z... =P

Methinks N1/PW in a Z32 TT would be an odd match. He seems to be more attuned to older imports.

Please keep in mind that I have a beautiful L28ET close to completion. My next car will be a 1970-1978 S30Z so that the motor won't go to waste. Since I have another car in the meantime, though, I can open my horizons a little and even go for ones that aren't running but have great bodies. I don't care if they run, after all--the motor will be replaced anyway. We'll see how it goes.

For now, the insurance is just waiting to see what the police do. If the car is recovered in the next few days then we'll go from there. If there's no update on the police report by Friday, then it'll be off the policy and I'm free to do whatever I want.

Man, that is so shitty, I know that feeling all to well, unfortunately, vegas is very high on car theft and I have had quite a few things stolen from me before, even with locks and alarms.

Sorry to hear about it, but karma always comes back, keep your head up

My vote goes for finding a super clean body that doesnt run and going from there. Be a brilliant way to save some coin and get a fast ass car.

This. Oh so this.
It's logically the best way to go, assuming you don't get the old one back or something. Honestly, you could look at this as a great opportunity, since you have the ability to get a good looking example for cheap without having to worry about whether it really runs or not.
So good luck with finding another (again, assuming the you can't get the old one.) smile.gif

I think BMW was commenting on "Z's to flip".

+1 to finding the cleanest body you can, since you already have the engine.

This.

But anyway, I'll have to try to swing out there when you pick up another one and get to doing this swap. Time to buy stock in 5-hour Energy, I'll be buying a bunch for the drive down and back!

hay gaiz wuts goin on in dis thread

user posted image

Yeah, got a new one. Here are the juicy details.

-1971 Datsun 240Z $2500
-NO RUST NO RUST NO RUST WOOOO NO RUST f**k yeah no rust
-Rear passenger quarter damage. Doesn't look structural/frame. Fixable. However...
-Salvage Title. Paperwork sucks but whatever, I've got dis.
-No interior lights work (all exterior lights work)
-SPEEDO WORKS WOO
-5-speed (synchro on 2nd is shot, 1st is touchy)
-ALL LOCKS WORK WOO
-interior driver's door handle doesn't work. lol
-HAS A b*tchIN RADIO WOO
-speakers don't work. lol
-blower doesn't work
-f**k YEAH CARBS
-carbs are mad out of tune. lol
-gas tank leaks when full, stops leaking when it's roughly 70% full

It's gonna be an experience. I'll have to do a video walkaround to cover all the little details and stuff. It's driveable as it is but I really do need to just rip into the damn thing. EVENTUALLY I will totally fix the body and paint it a color that doesn't make me cringe, but for now it'll just have to be dinged up and weird-lookin'. At least it isn't rusted. That's the huge thing. I've never seen a Z this damn clean before. Battery tray, spare tire, hatch seal, floorpans on both sides, it's friggin amazing how clean this damn car is. I can't explain it. But for the lack of rust, I'm willing to work on the rest.

Not to mention, it's my new L28ET transplant victim. w00t2.gif I kinda hope the police recover the 280Z now so I can sell it and dump the money into this. laugh.gif

Feel free to ask questions and junk. THE Z PROJECT LIVES ON!

Looking at it again, I think that would buff out to a decent shine, they did not use clearcoat back then.

When I have the time and money to worry about paint, the car is not even going to be red. I still want to do a Tokyo Metro Police motif. Until then, paint can screw itself. f**k it, WE'LL DO IT LIVE!

If you go back a page or so, I believe you'll find me saying that I never expected the police to find anything in the first place. There was nothing of value in the 280Z. It was a stock car with a stock engine and nothing more. No center console, no radio, no speakers, no alarm, no aftermarket junk... I can't imagine it was stolen for any other reason than a joyride, in which case I don't expect it recovered.

If it is recovered, that would be a pleasant surprise.

IMO, the only thing of great value in dons old Z was his passenger seat, which was mintier than anything Wrigley makes.

Although i know you're gonna repaint the Z, i need to let you know that i absolutely LOVE red Z's. If i had a Z, it would be red. So I must say, awesome choice of colors, even though I guess you didnt have a "choice" of color to begin with. tongue.gif

now lets get the ball back rolling again with your project! once again, im willing to donate some of my time to help you out with it.
