Doesn't the GT-R already, unofficially, make over 500hp?

Compared to previous skyline GT-Rs, with the SPEC V, you ACTUALLY DO GET A POWER JUMP. Nissan at least did one thing right and made the engine a LOT more bulletproof, so guess what, unlike the older N1/NUR cars you don't need a fancy schmancy N1 longblock and surrounding systems.

Keep in mind too, the Spec V, at $160,000 USD equivalent, IS STILL CHEAPER than a carrera 4S in Japan. That might also explain why the car is not coming to the states.

Ok, so if aGT-R R32 was 35,000 USD brand new and the N1/V SPEC/VSPEC II models were 50-52,000 USD, thats a 15,000 to 17,000 USD difference off the base price for bigger/wider wheels, beefier engine parts and etc. still same horsepower. Now we got the V spec or Spec V for DOUBLE of the original price and no significant power bump. seriously that's ridiculous. they should of rounded it up to 500 or 520 at least....i bet it would sell easier.

seems relative to me

$35,000 + 42% increase would be the said $50,000

and it is not like the other V-Spec/V-Spec II/N1 model had huge power increases either

now it is the same for the current GT-R

$80,000 + 42% increase up to $114,400

seems like nissan has been playing this game for quite a while now

but that doesn't matter really

price, at least to me, is not a factor to anyone who would even consider buying one at this point, to arguing about it is truly pointless, you wont be buying one, I wont be buying one, so lets just keep talking out of our asses here

That's unclear. Most people say it has the pull of a 500+ hp car and its dyno results hint toward that, but of course, Nissan keeps claiming that the drivetrain losses are minimal because of their engineering and materials.

I certainly wouldn't buy one new. But down the line I may end up buying one used. A brand's halo car's halo trim however probably isn't burdened with secondary market considerations though. Might just have to get one the old fashioned way I got the other GT-R.... shifty2.gif fear2.gif

Maintenance costs on GTR:

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/01/some-ba...intenance-bill/

Our fathers always told us there's no such thing as a free lunch, and if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Then along came the Nissan GT-R, billed as a "bargain supercar" for those of merely elevated means. With a list price below eighty grand and performance to embarrass exotics worth several times as much, it seemed like the shoestring exotic had finally arrived like Santa Claus on Christmas. Couple that with what you'd be forgiven for assuming would be reasonable ownership costs – it is, after all, a Nissan, not a Ferrari – and the impossible had appeared to have happened.

However, such optimistic judgments about upkeep may have been premature. That's what the boys over at Inside Line found when their GT-R was called in to have its fluids changed. With transmission fluid selling for over $100 a quart, plus labor, the costs added up rather quickly, resulting in a routine refresh of the car's fluids and filters adding up to a sign-of-the-times-if-we've-ever-seen-one total of $2009 and change. If that's a bargain, we don't want to know what expensive is. Follow the link below to see IL's full breakdown.

ALSO:

2009 disclosure form states:

"This includes warranty coverage for performance driving on a track, but your warranty excludes coverage for racing"

2010 disclosure form

"Racing, competitive driving of any sort and/or any use on a track or airstrip, or otherwise not operating or maintaining the vehicle as set out in

the Owner’s Manual and Service and Maintenance Guide"

The R35 is an awesome car as it is, but i have lost all desire to ever own one. I would rather buy a 996 Turbo used. For the cost of maintanance i better own an F430.

Dude, the current Base GT-R price to the Current V-spec price is not a 42% increase, it's 160,000 USD or a 100 percent increase.

True. But it bothers me to see a souped up car being double the price of the base car with identical power numbers.....

QUOTE
Nissan revealed earlier this year that they will be making a competitive entry into the FIA GT Championship for 2010 with a Nissan R35 GT-R built to GT1 specifications. In collaboration with NISMO and Gigawave Motorsports the car will be entered into four races in 2009 for testing and development. The first race it will be entered into is Silverstone, round 1 on May 3rd 2009.

Today specifications are out and the car was photographed testing at the Paul Ricard HTTT facility in the south of France during the media function and first official test day for the 2009 championship season.

As predicted the GT1 GT-R features a front mounted naturally aspirated V8 engine, a VK56DE with a displacement of 5,552cc. The VK develops 600hp and more than 650Nm of torque. It’s mated to a Ricardo 6 speed transaxle via a 5.5″ carbon triple plate clutch. All this drives only the rear wheels. Carbon brakes and pads all round are clamped by 6 piston front and 6 piston rear calipers. Putting the power to the ground are 18″ x 13″ Rays forged wheels all round.

More updates to come as the day progresses…

Try .8l, or 55 more cubic inches. The FiA GT car has a 5.0l V8, NASCAR stockcars run 5.8l.

Biggest NASCAR motor was a 429ci(7.0l), they downsized to 358ci in 1971.
