heh.
this thread reminds me of an old movie that they use this car to transport time and stuff.
anyhow, i think it would be nice to ressurect some of the old cars.
now if they just work on the engine and the looks just a little bit...

Yeah, that and a Wilson hover conversion would be nice. I wonder if it only costs $39,999.95 like in the movie. Lol, yeah I'm a BTTF fanboy, so what?

*Edit* Although, my love for the movie wouldn't compell me to buy one. I mean by today's standards the car is extremely slow. The car has a power to weight ratio that's not much higher than the 98 Corolla I drive. On top of that I think paint is very becoming on cars wink2.gif .

You don't literally have to race it. You buy it and use it on a Saturday for acruise on the highway with style.

Just make sure than when you get a custom DeLorean with the 140mph speedo and Flux Capacitor powered at 1.21 Jigawatts....just dont go 88 mph wink2.gif

Now compare to a SVX, Countach, and a McLaren.

They all had those windows for the same reason
Not enough room in the door for a full roll down, so it doesn't suprise me.

Anyways, YAY! Someone mentioned that they should put rotaries in it haha. I remember doing research a while ago that they were going to put citroen rotaries in it, but fuel economy changed their mind. It would be sick to put a rotary in it now haha.

JZX: I can't speak for the Countach or the McLaren, but I can speak for the SVX.

You do realize that the DeLorean and the SVX were designed by the SAME DESIGNER right? ItalDesign did both. Not only that, but the prototype SVX had gull-wing doors as well, same as the DeLorean. But they ended up being too costly (and heavy and unreliable) so in the final design Subaru simply kept the windows.

But come on man. Same designer. Of COURSE they look similar.

hmm, didn't know the svx was made by the same guy. But if you look at the other two cars, having a full window roll down is impossible unless there's some magical glass compressing ray inside the door. Which is why the cars have a split window. Just look at the deloreans door shape, and compare it to the size of the window. it's physically impossible to make the window fit inside the door lol.

The SVX seems to have a large enough door to fit the window right in. Although I think that kind of window is cool. smile.gif

it does, so I'm not quite sure on the logic of making it have a split window there.....

actually, after looking at a picture of it from the side, there isn't enough room
user posted image

if you look at the shape of the door, the small window needs to follow a track going at a forwards angle so it can open. if the whole window were to do this, it would exit the front of the door.

I remember the concept they had on the rotating stand at the '89 Tokyo Motor show. That didn't have gullwing doors though. confused2.gif I guess it was axed by that time. sad.gif

I like both, the DMC-12 and the SVX. I somehow knew those two had the same designer lol
BTW, I have a question... Why is it that I have NEVER seen a DeLorean with nothing but it's stock rims? ???

Because the stock rims look the best. That's the really amazing thing about the DeLorean... to make it look awesome you have to do exactly nothing. No bodykits, no wide body, no aftermarket rims...

It just looks awesome as it is.

Bozz: Yeah, I have pics of the prototype, I'll send them to you.

I don't think anyone would put a bodykit to a DeLorean.
But IMO some aftermarket rims would give it a slightly newer look.

Every painted DeLorean is shiny as hell.
What sucks about the car is that it doesn't have a lot of horses considering the engine. Anyway, It's an 80s car so...
