Hey can someone tell me exactly what a ricer is? Is it just a person who blissfully goes out of his way to make his car look really fast and gay like in fast and furious? Is anyone with a bodykit on their car a ricer?

This may be a repost but it is still pretty funny.

Rice has a ton of argued definitions.... But basically its stupid modifications.... things done to make a car look fast while it still can't get out of it's own way.... Overdone graphics and stickers of companies that don't have those parts in the car.... Altezza tail lights are usually a big no-no (if their stock on the car their refered to as factory rice)

Bodykits themselves are a debated point.... On most cars their pointless other then from a looks point of view (ie rice) because they add weight and the cars don't see anywhere near speeds of places where they add any aerodynamics.... Granted some cars need to add body kits to allow things like FMIC's and keep the lines clean and the parts protected... Also on some cars they can blend well with the car and not look tacky (abiet very rare)

Basically body kits to the purist are the same as these monster wings on the back of FWD cars like civics.... OK lets see I'm building a ricemobile wanna be drag car... let me add downforce and weight to the rear of the car so the 75 hp I have has to work harder to make the car go and the tires have a harder time holding on because the weight shift backwards is more so there is even less holding the drive wheels down....

Granted another class of rice is the escalades with the 24 inch spinners (not even going to get into those things on old school caprices and such)

But the best way to explain it... anything that nhances looks with no performance upgrade to the automobile is considered rice....

I think that stuff in the trunk is supposed to be wigger dynomat lol.

okay, i want a true enthusiast's opinion on this one... do the Honda/Acura Type R's qualify as Rice or as performance in the tuning world?

probably performance....since they dont make type rs in the US...

but if they did...ricers would rice them out

Since when do Type Rs not exist in the US? I surely know my friend has a Type R sitting in his garage.

And yes, its a performanc car.

People would debat more on a STi if its rice or not, due to the "wing" it has.

i really dont think they make type R in the us, ur friend prolly has the JDM type r emblem bought from Ebay. or it could be an imported car from japan (if the steering wheel is on the right side). but maybe im wrong. I THINK the type Rs in the US are the civic SI and the integra GR-S , u know they always change name.

and about the STI i dont think it's rice because it's original factory wing, not some big ass arggressive carbon fiber wings.

and here is my definition of ricer lol : Civic + big wing + arggressive body kit + loud ass exhaust + weird paint job = noobass ricer racer wannabe.

^ Actually there are real Type R integras in North America.

BTW, here's one riced out car i see on campus all the time... It's got ONE G35 light on the rear and some sort of bodykit... I cannot even identify what kind of car it is...
