I hope IDEx uses the 1.5 patch physics, i.e. nullifies penalty cancels. I want to play this game the way it shoul be played - gas and BRAKES. I'm slightly turned off at the idea of takin every hairpin using a in-in-out line while tapping the brake quickly to cancel the understeer. I think the 1.5 fix possibly makes the game a lttle more realistic (in the sense that you can't constantly just take the inside line of corners all the time, and that you can't just escape horrible understeer just by tapping the brakes)

Damn. Maybe with more time someone will discover that I-I-O lines don't work very well anymore. The thread for the new patch has a video showing accel lag after taking Akina DH's firs hairpin "the usual way". Maybe it will encourage veterans to find a more optimal line to maximise accel

The PS3 controller's shoulder buttons R2/L2 are analog, ie they have various degrees of depression. That means that you could do PC if it is still present. I'll be buying a wheel and pedals for this game anyway.

I have to buy a PS3 just to play that. >_<

But it'll be easy because I'm gonna use the PS3 controller there. But it depends if I wanna have a steering wheel controller. tongue.gif

Then get the G25 wheel. You can place the shifter on the left or right of the wheel...

Will the Asian version have the English instuction booklet? I've already pre-ordered the Japanese version but wondering if I should get the Asian one, though I guess I don't really need an English booklet.

The Asian version of Initial D Street Stage [PSP] had an English manual, but you should be fine with a Japanese version. All you need is a katakana chart, you can guess the rest wink2.gif

Scans of the English manual (if there is one) will probably show up on the net anyway.

True, I think I will just stick with the Japanese version. The menus and what not are easy enough to figure out after I have now memorized the PSP version. Man, I am so stoked to play this game. I just can't wait any longer.

nothing beats the good 'ol arcade spirit... the usually-long lines just to buy tokens or load credits, the long waits in line for your turn to play, the new people you meet, the colorful comments you make to some loser who hogs the machine or does eraser, PC, or whatever stupid technique which makes everyone fall out of their socks... in some ways playing ID at the arcades gets you more involved with the game itself and the gaming environment as a whole...

well lets see, I go to college fulltime, I work 70 hours a week, I pay bills and I can still afford a PS3. second, I wouldn't be buying this if San Diego wouldn't be so god damm lazy to order these machines. I hate driving 2 hours just to play IDAS4. Everyone who was in Los Angeles that played, complained about the new engine and how crappy it was when they lost. So as of right now, I have a bitter taste about playing this in the arcades anymore.

A reminder to everyone who's interested in picking up Extreme Stage...(I'm sure you already know about this one cjb, since you're on the "main" IDES thread in the Gaming area)

The Asia version of the game has an English manual, but for whatever reason does NOT have online play. So the trade-off is online play vs. readable manuals. From the screenshots of the JP version released so far, I think we can all get by with the partial English in the game. I'm sure we can deal with the language barrier in exchange for online play smile.gif

this is hella old news. even before the previews i had a feeling sega was gonna make a ID game for PS3. like come on, PS3 is missing a drifting based game, like GT5 is circuit simulator, Wangan Midnight is street racing, and IDES is Drifting. that how i knew that sega was gonna make it soon. even before all this hype and threads about IDES for PS3. i jus thope it will use the logitech G25, it doesnt have to use th 900degree turning since ID isnt like GT5 it isnt simulator but at least make it so you can use the G25, so its like ur at the arcade.

Old news? While we all knew an ID game would come to PS3 eventually, nobody knew when. Rumors about the game popped up around the end of February, and was officially confirmed in an issue of Famitsu in mid-march.

You can't really call it old news based upon a feeling the game is eventually coming out. If you think of news like that, then a Final Fantasy VII remake is old news too, because I know Square Enix wants money, and they know everyone would buy FF7 all over again.

Actually I guess it's old news, about 2 months old. This thread popped up right when Sega confirmed the game's development in Famitsu.

I think what you meant to say is "I knew it was coming", rather than "old news"
