After many requests it has been decided that we will be releasing First Stage. Not always 4 episodes at a time, just the amount we see fit each time. I have ripped this personally myself and there is a reason why I chose to have it this size. Enjoy

NOTE:First Stage was made in 1998. The quality of First Stage was never done that well. Many of you will notice that the voices kinda have an echoe and other things like when 3D and 2D are together. That is all normal. DONT COMPLAIN, I ripped as best I could without making the file size too big. If I compressed anymore then the quality would drastically go down. I ripped this one many times. Please Dont complain unless you cant play the video or there is a major problem.

Note:Voicing in Japanese with English Subtitles.

i'd like to know how big is the batch torrent, as i have somewhat of a space constraint on my HD..

thanks

Posted by: Smiley_DC2 Sep 21 2004, 02:31 AM
The torrent is around 1500MB, and includes episodes 1-4 from 1st Stage

This is also the first Seeder Team endorsed torrent so seeders should always be available for this one

By always he means until the next one smile.gif

Maybe your computer is running slower than normal. Re-boot your PC and if you're still having problems try http://www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html

What are the stats of your computer?

Didn't quite grasp what you meant but i'm guessing this:

P3 500 Mhz (sucks)
384 Mb RAM (156 Mb available right now.. slow ass ram pinch2.gif )
nVidia Riva TNT2 Agp 16 Mb (really REALLY sucks)
Windows XP Pro SP1 (windows update finished downloading SP2 10 min. ago.. then proceeded to Crash pinch2.gif P.S: it didn't even install it)

Posted by: Perry Sep 22 2004, 11:48 AM
Mmm ... 500 mhz might be a little slow for these dvd-rip quality video. You have good amount of RAM and you got a nice graphics card. Problem is the CPU is a little slow. If you have a CD burner, burn the episodes and watch it on another OS. Something like Linux or Windows 98. I recommend using Mandrake Linux 10.0 to watch video. It use very little amount of RAM and it runs really smooth.

Posted by: MAD MAX Sep 22 2004, 01:35 PM
I was downloading it yesterday, I tried to continue the download today but it says that I have tracker connecting problem. mad.gif What the hell is that ??

Posted by: EvilTaxi Sep 22 2004, 01:47 PM
Tracker's broken, you gotta wait till someone fixes it.

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Sep 22 2004, 02:40 PM
Tracker is fine now. Every once in a while trackers go down. Expect it t happen, leave the torrent open and eventually it will connect again.

1500 mb and its And only 4 episodes?!? Lets do some math: 1500 mb per 4 episodes and theres 26 episodes in 1st stage. Thats almost 9.7 GB.

Takumi Trueno, I noticed your other rips are around that size too and while the quality is probably amazing and I thank you for releasing, 9.7 GB is a huge chunk of space for only 26 episodes. C'mon man not everyone has unlimited space on their HDDs or the money to go out and buy 250 gb HDDs whenever their other 250 GB HDD gets full or has a DVD-RW with a bunch of blank DVDs lying around.

Movies and episodes arent meant to be kept on your hard drive forever. Look at the Torrent Section rules. Also if you have seen the original quality of First Stage you should know why I had to release at this size. ALSO, did you not read my first post, I explained it all there.

Edit: ShiftLock, you have only been here one day. Dont start complaining now, Complaining for your first post= bad way to start out. Read before you post.

I think we should stop whining on how big the files are. These files are very good quality, and I hope he continues to host files. If you dont' like these files, go download some low quality videos from another site.

I've seen the original quality of First Stage. Let me use an analogy: If you were to take a music CD with low quality audio tracks and ripped them to high quality, that doesn't make the sound of the audio itself high quality; the quality was low to begin with. Can you explain what would happen if you made the 4 episodes a bit more compressed so the file sizes reasonable to some people? Say from 1500 MB to something like 600 MB?

Please dont analyze everything I say, thats one thing I dislike. Picking apart of my words. Also your analogy does not work for this situation. You should have picked this one out from your analysis. Which is that when you rip something the quality never goes up, it can only go down. So when you rip something you have to find the point where the quality goes down in the rip. If you dont find that point you will only undershoot over over shoot how much the video should be. If I rip a DVD at 4 gigs obviously the quality will not go up. If I rip at 700 mb then obviously too low. You get it?
(Dont try to correct me, what I did was a for a reason)

If you don't like how things are here, then leave. We don't have to put up with this. Forums are for people to come and share their common interests, not for newcomers to harass senior members. I don't care if you have "lurked" here for a while, you have not contributed a single thing as a guest, so you will be treated as a newcomer.

No, /you/ f**k off. You didn't even read my post and you come here mouthing off. The only reason I brought up that "legal BS" I mentioned was in response to Takumi Trueno and I didn't say I wanted better quality anything. I love how everyone just jumps head first into this and brands me an asshole. Way to treat 'a newcomer' guys. Good job. All I ever did was open my mouth and to offer a 'constructive criticism' (If you don't know what constructive criticism is, look it up).

On top of that I offered my thanks and acknoweledged your contribution in both of my previous posts but no, lets go off attacking the shit out of me because I thought I had an what I thought would be a better idea and wanted to share it and see what you thought. I should've realized the level of immaturity I would be coming across before I dared go against the 'senior members' here. Please forgive me Takumi Trueno. You are, afterall, more than just a 16 year old kid who gets his rocks off by acting like the big boss on the forums while surrounded by lackeys who follow you blindly. Oh wait.

Seniority on these forums is not proportional to knowledge, reasoning and/or conduct as can be plainly seen here. Everyone singling me out because I opened my mouth and saw that the number of posts I had made wasn't even a double digit number and so automatically, i'm an idiot no matter what I say unless I act like a drone and kiss ass, making it pretty convenient to attack me.The only thing i've seen here is a couple of people with an insecurity problem (Takumi, Evil Taxi) and Tezza who decides that it's too much work to read a post properly and just keep kissing ass (EvilTaxi and Tezza).

I won't be making any more replies to this thread. No point in talking with a bunch of immature kids who think they're boss or something. Go release your First Stage or whatever the f**k you want to do. I'll be sure next time not to respond to time wasting idiots like you. Way to set an example to all new and potential new members, Senior Members. thumbsup.gif

First off, I want to thank you for the torrents you put up, since I have downloaded several of them in the past.

You do however seem to have a negative reaction to most new people, which doesnt seem too welcoming. I dont really see anything wrong with what he said initialy. I understand you asked for people not to complain about file size, but I think he was just posting a thank you, and a comment about the downloads. I am not telling you what to do, I just think you all over-reacted. smile.gif

The main concern was to be appreciative for what offered here as far as torrents and file sharing is concerned. Takumi Trueno among others go out of their way to provide these services and materials here at the forums, and while it is expected that not everyone will be pleased and you can't make everyone happy, it is important to understand that regardless credit should be given where credit is due.

Call me an ass-kisser, brown noser or whatever i don't care but Takumi Trueno is seriously doing an outstanding job sharing material and regulating its distribution. If you don't like whats offered here, that ok, you don't have to get it. The IDW majority is satisfied with whats currently being done, so that in itself speaks for itself.

Ok. I've finished the download yesterday and play the episodes but what is with the sound? The voices are not like the original I mean the sound of them, it's like they are talking on a very big room and there is some eco. The video is a lot better than the Prelude and the Extra stage. You shold make all of your rips like this. Just the sound that is verry different than the normal.

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 7 2004, 02:48 PM
Damnit Heero, READ. I said in the first post that, that is how it originally sounded. I told people specifically not to complain about that. In the TP version they probably fixed that.

But how do you explain the fansub files? Most of them are from the dvd 2 and they don't have this sound. And i don't think that they would change that on pro audio tools because it would be hard to get a prefect job. As far as i know they didn't remake the sound of the first stage so all videos should have the same voice sound.

By the way I'M NOT COMPLANINING ABOUT THE SOUND I JUST SAID THAT THE SOUND IS NOT LIKE ALL THE OTHER FIRST STAGES I'VE SAW UNTIL NOW.

i've downloaded First Stage ep1-4 and First Stage ep5-9. here's my observation:

Initial D 1st Stage 1-4 is 384MB, 24 mins, 128kbps, 720x480 resolution
Initial D 1st Stage 5-9 is 245MB, 24 mins, 128kbps, 576x384 resolution

i'm using P4 2.2Ghz 533 FSB, 1GB DDR400 ram, AGP8x GeForce FX5200 128MB with 80GB & 40GB seagate barracuda 7200rpm hard disks.

playing ep1-4 in WMP is problematic. slow video & choppy sound.
playing ep5-9 is good.

to all the newbies hope u can judge if u can play by the type of hardware u r using b4 downloading using my specs as benchmark.
downloading the codecs u need to play but it's the hardware that can't keep up with the high quality. converting to a smaller size would be hard coz it would take more than 5 hours for 1 DVD encoding or conversion w/ Nero Ultra or Roxio 8. No bashing whiners here. to lower spec pc owners -- 1st stage ep1-4 is not for u! save the bandwidth and ur time. there are some chopsuey Initial d 4th stage complete set torrents out there that i've dLd that plays fine.

Thanks to Takumi Trueno and to all seeders 4 sharing! I also believe in the best quality conversion but sad that my specs couldn't keep up. Still luking 4ward to complete japanese dvd version of Initial D 1st to 4th stages. Keep it up! arigato

thanks takumi trueno! we can all finally watch initial d thats NOT f*** up by tokyopop (well, for me its the first time). anyways, i'm new to both this forum and bittorrent, and my DL is creeping at 20 kb. is this normal? btw, i subscribe to comcast at 50 mbps. also, how would i seed this after i'm done? thanks, sorry if i broke any rules.

hey Tak (Takumi), i'm a new comer here but do you plan on making more of these, i understand it must take a great deal of time. thank you so much for putting 1-9 up already. if you ever do any more of stage one i'd be glad to donate something for your time, it might not be that much but hey, it could help. I have stage 1 and 2 by tokyopop and i can't even stand to watch it after seeing these. thanks again man

Can anyone who has downloaded these episodes tell me what video format they are in?

I am just curious.

I normally watch AVI formats.

I have to agree that the TokyoPop versions were pretty bad.

That's the main reason why I didn't pick them up when they were officially released in the States.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to share your stuff with us, Takumi Trueno!

Come on guys, this needs more seeders.

I am 1% away from completing it myself, and I will leave it up every time I have my computer on.

I encourage all of you to do the same...
