A friend and I were talking about our favourite Gundam series a while ago and this question popped up.

What do you folks think?

I vote for Amuro - since i personally re-lived his adventures with that PS2 game where you pilot his Gundam through space - i think he's the best.

Nu gundam will own freedom gundam like nothing. Kira can jus go back home to lacus and the blind guy with dozens of orphanes. And the cosmic era is jus a rip off of universal century

Well, like I said before, Newtypes /pwn Coordinators. Newtypes are superhuman pilots, endless posibilities there. Coordinators...? Not superhuman. Look, /pwnage already.

Didn't toonami use to have moble sut gundam? i remember watching it like 3 years ago and they almost completed the series and then they jus cut it off, wut da hell. Oh well i already kno the ending and toonami might of Z gundam since they already have the dvds in america

The funnels are cool since they fly around hella fast and once u see one ur dead. Anways even gundam seed destiny has gundams wit funnels i think its chaos gundam. Anyways i forgot how funnels work, i remember that amuro use his mind to control it.

Chaos only got 2 but Nu gundam has 9 funnels

Amuro is probably the more superior pilot, but the gundams are in factor here too. I'll put in all of Amuro's and Kira's gundams and you guys judge who'd win:

Amuro(RX78-2) vs. Kira(Strike)
-Beam Rifle vs. Aile Strike
-Hyper Bazooka vs. Launcher Strike
-Hyper Jammer vs. Sword Strike

Then the ultimate battle: Amuro(Nu) vs. Kira(Freedom)


You know what?! If anyone wants to play out this scenario, get a copy of Gundam Battle Assault 3. See who wins.

Nah they don't. I was pretty sure that they did since I thought GBA was somewhat of a dream-match type fighting game. Well there goes that idea. It's mostly Gundam Seed mechas w/ a couple from G Gundam and Wing.

I say skills wise Amuro has the upperhand skill wise but in suit wise Kira wins hands down I would say Freedom has much more weaponery and heavy weapons Kira's simultaneous targeting will knock Amuro's funnels out of the air very easily but if it is a beam sabre duel Kira's in serious trouble

That's a pretty accurate observation. Most everybody is forgetting, though, that Kira isn't supposed to be a regular coordinator like most ZAFT characters in Gundam Seed. If Kira's in trouble, he usually breaks into his "Beserker Mode" that multiplies his abilities tenfold.

Forget the fact that he cries sometimes after he kills someone. That's just his humanity showing remorse for what he's done. Sure, both Kira and Amuro didn't start their respective series as soldiers, but I don't remember seeing any episodes where Amuro regretted killing anyone on the battlefield.
The way you make it sound, it seems like Amuro has a feral bloodlust to satisfy.

I say Amuro... after all, Kira's basically a copy of Amuro, and as they say, the original's the best.... this is talking pilot-wise. In terms of suit power, Kira's probably screwed if Amuro brings out the Hi-nu gundam.
About the SEED mode being a possible benefit to Kira's fighting skills, while it does increase Kira's abilities, it just puts him on par with Amuro skill-wise, since newtypes are always using their newtype skills on the battlefield, compared to the SEED mode, which just pops up at random times.

LOL this isn't about the debate against Newtype and Coordinator but didn't u find it weird about how easy it was for Lacus and Kira to get the Freedom Gundam it was basically salute everyone in your path and wallah Freedom Gundam is yours but it did come with costs afterwards.

Kinda like Quatre from Wing - im sure everyone remembers how he destroyed a coloney with just Wing Zero.

Anyhoo, has anyone played encounters in space? im not sure whether the Nu or Strike or Freedom is in it, if they are, then try deciding the winner through that game.

Strike is in it... as well as Aegis... Too bad there is no Freedom... Freedom is pretty damn cool...
