This is for the people who play at or can (or willing to) make it to the Round 1 in San Jose.

We've had our Initial D 8 machines for a while now and was wondering if people would be interested in a small tournament (nothing serious) for ID 8.

I'm willing to look into it more only if i knew a good amount of people would be also interested. That being said that also means I'd be the one to host it. (unless others want to help too)

So what do you guys think? Let me know if you're interested, if I think we have enough, then id come out with a rule set we can all work with and a potential date for the tourney.

Again its nothing serious, just friendly competition and a reason to get all together as ID players smile.gif

I was looking into this myself. I personally wish competitive racing was as big as it was with the earlier IDAS machines. I would love to participate, Sunny.

Not sure if it still has cards. I have several friends that play, Sunny, but none at our level of skill, hahah... IDAS8 gets expensive, they can't really practice.

I haven't played Initial D competitively since Version 3 back in the day.

I'd probably leave it to you hardcore players, I'm still trying to full tune my AE86 whenever I'm not jamming out on the Bemani games at Round 1.

It should have cards honestly, but if you want one i actually have one extra that i dont even use. I found it one day on the floor, has a black prius on it.

This saturday im going to ask around if people would be willing, right now i can imagine like at least 5 joining forsure. Idk how many people i should aim for. 10? maybe less? more? What do you guys think?10 sounds like it can work.

After saturday Ill probably come out with the rule set and a signup page for the tourney if it goes well. The tourney will either be hosted on a Saturday or Sunday, and within the month.

8 will be a good number for a double elimination bracket, and when interest grows...16 happy.gif

Either 2/3 races per match with all random course or RPS for first pick, other racer 2nd pick, random third course is my suggestion.

Wish I can attend ermm2.gif

If anything , I could maybe advertise it on paper if you want , just to get people interested in joining. Just tell me the date and time when your planning to host it .

I've decided that it'll be on December 13th, people are still dealing with school and I wanna make sure everyone see the upcoming event. In a day or two ill post the sign up page along with the rules and probably come out with the time as well. Go ahead spread the word! Itll help. Just refer them to the forum page if you can or tell them the details until the sign ups are out

Check it out! Read the description before you sign up. http://challonge.com/dorifuto_id8

Sign up page: http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/HifKGaOs5Y (You will need a challonge account to sign up online)

Description for lazy people:
DORIFUTO! A small NorCal Initial D 8 tournament at Round 1 in San Jose. (December 13th) (Double Elimination)

The time will be announced 2 weeks before the actual day, but will start around 6-7. (Always arrive early to check in and practice to shake off your first game rust!)

As for entry fee for now there is going to be none. This tournament is entirely free and available to everybody, but be ready to buy your own credits to participate. I am not going to be paying for people's games during the event.

Important: If other people (non-participants) want to play, then let them play. We shouldn't be jerks and hog the machine, ID8 is for everybody. If we must we will just wait out the machines as usual.

To signup online you must have a challonge account, signing up ahead of time will make sure you're not put in a wait list if more people come than anticipated. If not, then you can either leave a post on the forum of your entry, "Hey I'm willing to enter, enter me as [racer name]", OR just come the day of the event and sign up in person.

- BOOST will always be on.
- Double Elimination
- Each player will get to BAN one map, the map played will be chosen at random (through another method rather than the random option on the machine) according to the bans.
- Every match will only have one round except for Semifinals and Finals.
- Semifinals and finals will be best two out of three, each player again, bans one map and the map played is chosen at random. Loser of that round has the option to ban an additional map before the map is chosen at random for the next round. ALSO the same map will not be played twice.
- You can enter in as any spec you want, thought obviously you want to be full spec.
- Player can use as many cars as they want to, but the car has to be chosen BEFORE the map pick for that round. For Semifinals and finals user must chose a car for whole 2/3 set)

The tournament will happen if I can get at least 8 people to sign up. The cap will be at 14 (I doubt we'll get that much anyways) Though if we break that limit, then i'll consider raising it.

Also important: When you enter, you acknowledge that some machines have defects on them and are willing to play on them regardless. You can ask your opponent to switch machines before the match if you dont like what your assigned with, but if he refuses, tough luck. (Switching only within the same machine set, a1<->a2 , b1 <->b2.

This is a great opportunity for a lot of initial D racers to get together and hangout and play the game, so just have fun.

If you have any questions you can just go on the forums and ask there. I check frequently.

If this goes well, I might host another one.

I saw many new players today but many never seen before.
IMOTO, TRAN, JIN, and others.
Who are the fastest racers or top players at round 1?

So the prizes will be on the Challonge page itself but ill be putting them on here as well cause why not

1st : $30 cash
2nd: 10$ Starbucks Giftcard
3rd: A pat on the back and a mystery prize ooo nice.

Sorry if the prizes weren't at big as you thought, this is coming out of my pocket again.

@sizzle

The fastest racers Im honestly not sure, overall times speaking, there's a guy that goes by the name(s) "Ned9-12" (ned09) (ned10) etc. I think hes pretty good out of everyone else. Besides that everyone has their own courses they like to play. Maybe we can find out next week haha. Also dashing (------) is pretty fast, he fun to race.

And to everyone, again, this is just a small thing for all of us initial d players. I've helped host tournaments back in the past for smash bros, but this is kind of different since we have a fixed amount of set ups (the machines) and not much venue control (if any at all). Don't expect a guy with a mic in hand shouting out matches with a large projector overhead or anything haha. Ill be recording the matches at the same time yelling out the next match and keeping track of the brackets. Simple. If this goes well i'll consider hosting more in the future (maybe with a buy-in fee so we can have a pot to win). Any other questions go ahead send me a PM or make a post here or on the challonge page. With that being said, just have fun and see you all Sunday!
