i use similar technique.. but cannot guarantee wins... i like to follow and overtake when the fella hits the wall or something.. i prefer boost off.. more realistic fear2.gif

Yeah it's true bro. I always play battle with boost off. More realistic... smile.gif

Posted by: -ShinRei- Jul 8 2009, 05:59 PM
I always save the tire, so I go slow with Best Optimum Speed and Best Tight Lining, I don't care whether the opponent leaves Me in the dust at the beginning, cos I'm sure I would overtake Him later shifty2.gif

I think that's considered as a skill, mentally laugh.gif

Posted by: siily2134 Jul 11 2009, 08:31 PM
xd block skill for sure happy.gif kidding

i hate do this in the battle

this is not fair to player

Posted by: LaLaLa Jul 11 2009, 09:52 PM
Blocking is unfair but it still requires skill. The person blocking has to judge where the opponent is going next and must drive properly at the same time.

Posted by: DamienWolf Jul 11 2009, 09:55 PM
Its not unfair. Its part of the game. Same with real life racing. Its a b*tch when you're behind but thats when tactics need to used to pass somebody.

Posted by: Rei.G Jul 11 2009, 10:03 PM
yea, it's either u win or u lose and i prefer to win. smile.gif

Posted by: LaLaLa Jul 11 2009, 10:05 PM
Who doesn't... Haha. Sorry for this random question, but I didn't want to create a new thread just for this.

What is the line?

I've read an explanation before but I don't quite get it.

Posted by: DigiBunny Jul 11 2009, 11:19 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racing_line

That should clear it up.

Posted by: LaLaLa Jul 15 2009, 10:43 PM
Oh, thank you very much for helping me.

Posted by: lockheaven Jul 18 2009, 07:15 PM
I usually to have my tire management, optimum turning lining and aim to overpass my opponent in which ever turning i want to...

Posted by: dDrRaGeX Jul 18 2009, 10:10 PM
I call up Takumi and get him to race for me

Posted by: venth85 Jul 19 2009, 01:59 AM
I lead and confuse my opponent's line or mislead the opponent

Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Jul 19 2009, 02:26 AM
I take the best line, block the crap out of opponents who use boost, take all the jumps, shortcuts, gutters etc, nearly always choose to race in the rain, and sometimes use the blind attack trick.

Edit:

AAAAAAAAAAND my impreza looks stock, so people usually think im a noob.

Posted by: DigiBunny Jul 19 2009, 02:30 AM
Skill/Tactic.

Drive purposely slower than the opponent on a relatively high speed section, block him all the way, then inconspicuously open up a place on the outside. 7/10 times, the guy gets eager to pass, overestimates the cornering ability of his car, and eats wall.

Wonder if anybody will fall for feint braking. Nobody really pays attention to your butt...

Posted by: LaLaLa Jul 19 2009, 04:12 AM
If I was using the blind attack, I would. But does really pressing your foot down on the brakes a little work?

speaking about blocking.. i find the V5 blocking harder to perform. cuz if the opponents car is ahead of your car's rear door, it will be harder to block wacko.gif do you think that acceleration is the key to winning the map? (Say, boost off, both FT cars and drivers of equal skill) fear2.gif

Depends on the level of skill. At extremely high levels of play, it will be all about strategy - how the two drivers plan to use the tire management system. Although I dislike how they executed the whole boost system, it does add a whole new level of depth to the game.

At lower levels of play, it will be more about technique and execution, as these things are usually perfected by the time you get to extremely high levels of play. Worry about keeping the best line possible, and taking everything slowly and properly. Do everything correct, and don't make mistakes. For two equal opponents at this level of skill, it will all come down to who makes less mistakes.

Posted by: KoolerSama Jul 27 2009, 07:46 AM
i use the method of staying behind the other racer during cp1-cp2 because you can keep your line perfect without getting smashed in the back by someone taking a turn too hot and it puts alot of pressure on him/her. Since i do my other cps smoothly, I get a massive boost on cp3- cp4 and end up winning. The only time this doesnt work for me is if my opponent does the 1st 2 cp's better then me.

When i play boost off i just go all out since its about actual skill of the players/cars rather then utilization the boost system.

If I'm not mistaken, Boost Assist is independent of tire management boost, and there's even a bug where Boost Assist starts going away the further you go into CP4.

The boost assist doesn't really "go away". It's just that by the time you hit CP4, the whole "tire management" thing really matters, to the point that the boost assist won't help much if at all.

Mind you, the boost assist in ID5 is actually pretty weak. It *looks* strong because the tire management boost is backing it up.

During online battles boost is considered all forms of boost so when its off then the tire management and the assist are off. After its off then the race is purely based on weather or not ur car is FT and taking turns using a better line then the other guy. When its on then both systems are playing a factor in the race, the guy behind gets a boost assist but it can be weakened if the guy ahead doesnt hit anything and does turns well but once the guy in front hits a wall then all the boost assist returns to the guy behind.

Japanese arcaders explained to me that the new boost online system is like the anime where project D goes 75% in the beginning of the race then always passes at the end. personally i think the whole boost system is wacked out but i still love the game w00t2.gif

No. Tire Management is always on regardless whether the boost is ON or OFF.

Yup, I'm double-confirming this. Tire-management boost will always be there regardless of boost on or off.

If it was off, you'd see plenty of battles with really high speed cornerings.

i'm playing on the Japan version if that makes a difference. i do high speed cornering in boost off online battles but its just not high speeds like the other IDAS, its more of less brake going in then earlier acceleration coming out.

i'll try to record a few matches next time i see some high ranked guys playing boost off or i'll try to have my cam when i race some1 online with it off so you guys can see this.

@WRX - is that a k-car??

my fav technique to play.. play exactly like TA and full push 1/2 through CP 3.. i usually let my opponent go all the way.. till my Hachiroku reaches CP3...

i did beat someone before i gave him 200m ahead and still won him right before the finish line.. *self boasting*

but he was a newbie.. so .... ........... ............

Posted by: BNR32 Jul 30 2009, 05:49 PM
i reckon its better to do dat after cp4 to conserve tyres

Posted by: HydE's High In The Sky Aug 2 2009, 06:14 PM
my fav 'battle plan' is.....there is no plan..... dry.gif

eventually jz keep my line and not 2 mess up my tire 2much....

and im stil losing..... crying2.gif

It depends on the mood actually or situation...

If the situation is good, nothing to worry about and the world is at peace, I will just drive in my own pace. Won't really bother about the opponent line, car, ect...

However if i need to go to the toilet, will most likely drive like an idiot...

A COOL NOOB w00t2.gif

Posted by: Blazability Oct 7 2009, 01:29 AM
Drive like you always do,haha!

If I can't overtake my opponents for 2cp, I will turn of my headlights and tada : Blind Attack ! =)

Use Gutter Technique grin2.gif

Posted by: Newneo5879 Aug 19 2012, 09:51 AM
Boost ON - Just follow my opponent and never touch his tail. Safe my boost at CP1 CP2 and CP3 but very close follow and step my gas smoothly for safe my tyre. Make them supprise at last 200 m before finish line . If I loose , exactly my opponent level is most high then me. So for next battle change my strategy to pass him early and try at in front untill finish line .

Boost OFF - If I know my oppenent level higher than me , I must go first. Then just follow my TA driving skill whistling.gif
