What a sorry, sad bunch of enthusiasts we are where there wasn't even a thread before release. Well, today's the day, and I have today off, so I'll be diving in head first once the system updates finish up.

Cuz everyone has huge ragers for Gran Turismo here and wouldn't dare appreciate any other game. Sad, really. :/

That said, I have my Limited Edition in the mail from Amazon now. I should get it soon. Already got my Download Code for my pre order bonus content. smile.gif

Because it doesn't hit here until tomorrow morning, but you can be sure come tomorrow afternoon my house is going to be filled with the sounds of rotary engines, squealing tires and bouts of freestyle swearing after hitting a wall in the last lap of an endurance race in a class F car. laugh.gif

Some of us don't like cheating.

But that's assuming we get to play the damn game. After somehow managing to score the Limited Edition and a preorder pack for the price of the regular, despite not preordering, I brought it home from the store only to find out that the play disc is absolutely shagged.

Not the occasional skip here and there. Oh no, that'd be too simple. This is a full-on 'the track has no floor, races don't end and I can't install the damned thing to hard disk' level of boned. Way to QC, guys! Now, to hopefully get a goddamn working copy tomorrow when they open back up. dry.gif

Dare I say. This game is fun.

I'm a little disappointed though. They've addressed the physics, and it's a huge improvement over FM3. But everything else just seems rehashed, and the AI is f**king ridiculous. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to go a race without someone smashing into you.

Great game if you've never been into Forza before. Otherwise, I'm a little let down to be honest. Love the Autovista stuff with Clarkson though.
Though, Forza 4 might have some of the best and realistic sounding cars I've heard in a console game.

I really like how the exhaust note now changes when you change the exhaust, and they added flames to go with the exhaust pops of the higher power cars, such as the carbon copy of my Evo which somehow makes S-class... That's a ton of car when you think about it.

They still haven't fixed the drag racing though. I just don't get how you can nail the trap speeds for a certain horsepower but god forbid you get the trap times right, too. How can an AWD car trapping ~120 run a 12.4 no matter how you launch or shift? Retarded.

Oh well, at least once tuners really get into this, calcs come out, etc, I'll be able to jump competitively into online.

Have they fixed the glaring issue that is reusing old models? I remember the FC3S looked f**king terrible in F3 since they obviously ported it from F2.

By providing correct reflection and texture maps. A lot of cars in the older games had really afwul reflection, especially on the headlight glass. The R32 is a glaring (literally) example of this problem, and they didn't really fix it. Ever.

Did anyone else notice that some cars just look.. weird? It's not the case of being imported, it just looks like the designers screwed the looks up.

Like the R32 and 22B for example, they just look a little off for some reason. Especially the 22B.

The FC is an awesome looking car. But it seems to look weird in every Forza. I think it looks kinda weird in this one too.

I guess if your priority is paint textures and glossy reflections, feel free to play gran turismo 5. I'll be too busy driving every car in dash cam and enjoying the hell out of the custom career and other great features to care that the paint reflections aren't perfect on a car that's been out of production for two decades.

I'm not singling out that one car, as it's a problem on many of them. It's very obvious that the Forza team put more care into newer and/or more famous vehicles than they did with others. They did this by simply porting models and texture maps from the previous game into the new one. A TON of cars in Forza 3 were simply ports from Forza 2, with some rushed interior modeling done.

It's not going to stop me from buying the game, as I most definitely will buy Forza 4. I still have my limited edition copy of Forza 3 despite its flaws.

The interiors in Forza look like shit to be honest though. laugh.gif I'd rather they didn't have them at all than half ass them.

For every one thing done right in this game, at least five are totally f**ked up.

It's still pretty fun though.

Graphically? Shit.

Physics? Not as good, but worlds better than FM3

Car selection? Meh, so-so. Some cars I wish were there, some cars I could care less about. I think this part is more a matter of opinion than anything. I don't really care for driving a bunch of random super cars and stuff.

All in all, it's not a terrible game, just, I feel like if you've never played Forza before, it'd be something great to jump into, otherwise, you're not really missing much. The autovista commentary with Clarkson is awesome, but other than that. meh not so much.

Also, the AI is absolutely terrible, possibly the worst in any game I've ever played. I feel like I'm playing online with 12 year olds the whole times. AI shouldn't ram into the side of you trying to cut you off, right off the starting line. Ya know? I've yet to go a single race without having the AI smash into me.

Some people don't want 100 Skylines, 50 Silvias, 30 S2000s, and a special event for one of your three different Prius cars. I think Forza has a great selection without a one-sided slant for any single car type, country, or manufacturer.

Compared to GT5? Who's brainless Zombie drivers stay on a pre-determined path regardless of you or any other car on the road? Who fail to aknowledge your existance? Who will ram you just as well if you dare enter their programmed racing line? Gran Turismo's AI has been a floundering joke for nearly 15 years and 5 has shown no improvement whatsoever. Want to talk about the worst racing AI of all time? Look no farther than the embarassment that the GT series has become. I found Forza's AI wonderful. I don't know how 4 is (Amazon says it should arrive tomorrow. Note to self: don't get the free shipping next time), but I never had a problem with the AI in 3. It offered a challange, but was not flawless. Pressured opponents will make mistakes and they will drive differently depending on how you drive around them.

Trust me, I'm by no means saying the GT AI is amazing.

But, you'll see. FM4's AI might be the worst in racing game history. It's f**king TERRIBLE.
It's nice to see they actually screw up sometimes, but even when you clearly have the corner, they'll just charge in and smash the f**k out of you. It's ridiculous to the point where I don't want to playin the world tour or whatever mode anymore, I've just been playing online with friends.

Like I said, I've not had a chance to play 4 yet, but if that's your problem, perhaps you should be more aware of the other cars and not take such an aggressive line through the corner....

No doubt man.

Just...trust me on this one. You'll see exactly what I mean. I've yet to meet a person that has disagreed with me on the AI. laugh.gif
