Look here.

I don't know how to react to this. If they are discontinuing Initial D then it could mean another publisher like Del Rey or Yen Press could get it and do it justice...but that's if they're even interested in it.

It's pretty much a given though that Del Rey will probably get the Akamatsu titles like AI Love You and Love Hina wink2.gif

Just saw this myself on an animu site... Hopefully if someone else picks it up they'll continue where TP left off...

Holy Jesus, this is amazing. Here's hoping to a faithful rerelease by a competent company in the near future.

It'd be a huge waste to re-release it IMHO... TP has released some 30-32 volumes of it already...

Yeah. If they do plan on doing so, that'd be sweet though!
But only after finishing where TP left off, of course.

Yes, in a bastardized, censored form. The name changes were just awful. The TP books also had the "fact sheets" with out of date and inaccurate information, and character bios that rarely changed despite major events happening in the series.

I disagree, oh big deal, they added a shirt to cover up a naked chick... There wasn't much censorship in Initial D from Tokyopop in the first place... Yes the name changes were awful but they were banking on cashing in on the Fast and Furious phase and getting the show on TV. For whatever reason, they felt like it would be more marketable with the name changes. Oh yeah the fact sheets should not even been in the manga, inaccuracies galore...

Haha, let's see what inaccuracies my manga has...

They list Ryosuke's FC as silver.
They call Wataru's AE86 a Trueno.
They use the SAME picture of Keisuke's FD for Kyoko's FD.
They list Tomoyuki's EK9 as white.
They list Nobuhiko's Altezza as an EK9.

The list goes on - I only own 5 Initial D manga. laugh2.gif

I would love for them to continue releasing. I love the idea of having the actual book in my possession at all times instead of reading them online. Its pretty annoying to have to keep clicking for the next page, and although i dislike some aspects of Tokyopop, i somehow feel that the translations just sound more professional and therefore more enjoyable. Im not disparaging any of the fine scanlations, its just my opinion. Its also pretty annoying that they started the whole Kanagawa arc and now it just left off.

i still have nightmares of those "tricked out DVD's", and the manga...hooo boy.

I don't think it's gonna get picked up, considering how badly TP f**ked up Initial D.

Kodansha has a US division that opened up a while back. I think they might get it.

That could happen, I still don't think it's right that they aren't able to renew the license, despite their work on it, they should be allowed to finish what they started.
