| Hey guys just a quick question am driving an 92 honda civic Lsi, it was all working fine, untill i parked at my house, decided to go out again but when i tried to turn the key to switch on, the key woudnt ignite the engine, i can hear a little click from under the bonnet, all the lights etc are working, so it cant be the battery and ive tried turning the wheel to ful lock and turning the key, but still not working, anyone else have any ideas? ty yes am a car noob drove it for the first time yesterday |

| From the description, it sounds like a problem with your starter if you're just hearing a click instead of the starter whirring. If your lights are turning on and not dimming when you try the ignition, it very well could be that your starter solenoid is not getting power. |

| ok am so dumb, the car has an immobilser on it or something, all i had to do was deactive it -.-... thanks LOL |

| For future reference, a no-start condition accompanied by a clicking noise can often be due to a dirty, loose or otherwise incomplete battery connection. |

That's because the car is able to draw enough from the battery to power the lights/cd player etc. but not enough to get the engine turning over. I had this very problem due to corrosion on my battery terminals. |

A starter requires much higher power than lights and accessories. A loose or dirty battery connection may be able to transmit enough power to activate your lights and CD player, but when you go to turn the key, you'll hear the starter relay click but the engine will not turn over. If that were to happen, you'll notice your CD player and lights power down (the lights would dim slightly) momentarily as they would in a normal starting situation...except your car won't start.  |
