Not suprising, it is the original R32 GT-R, it wont be as refined as the R33 or R34. My Evo is like a proper WRC car though, powersliiiiide. grin2.gif

Yeah, how about I see you powersliding on every corner in the Nurburgring? That'll give The Stig a challenge... >_>

That can be arranged... shifty2.gif

Racing suspension on the Evo IV will probably kill the powerslides though, but in return it'll handle like a touring car instead! biggrin.gif

That's like imagining it to drive and react like a Vauxhall Calibra Touring Car. I can just hope my R32 would react just like it did in its Group A heydays...

I think it'll drive and react better than a Calibra that drove into Halfords a couple of times, May. whistling.gif

I don't think so, I predict that your Lancer Evo would still insist on behaving like a WRC car with solid shock absorbers, pretending to look like a touring car. You do know what solid shock absorbers did to Fat Man's amphibious truck, the Toybota, right?

I'm pretty sure it gave Fat Man a sore arse. grin2.gif My Evo will be fine, you just keep your R32 from understeering into a wrong way sign May. tongue.gif

Very funny Hammond, and try not to lose control of your Evo IV as well... You know what happened when you went too fast for your own good? rolleyes.gif

Sorry about disappearing like that, I had to spend a day in hospital since Nurb got me quite nauseous. I'll get back on with this today.. so, 20k worth of mods for the third challenge, and then FC suspension for the final challenge? shouldn't be too much trouble. I just need to stop sipping the beer and leave the sausages alone.. pinch2.gif

And we'll see how your 200SX deals with the Japanese pro-racers. Hamster's got a WRC car, I got a Group A car. Your's is only a shadow of the Group B cousin, and 240RS. Good luck with that rolleyes.gif

Final challenge results!

...or are they?

First race was at Apricot hill. I'd meet my opponents for the first time, and then be forced to duel with them for 5 races. My Evo had its suspension tuned to perfection by Mine's, so I was confident I could win.

My opponents in order of starting position at Apricot hill

1 / NISMO Skyline GT-R R-tune (R34) '99
2 / RUF BTR '86
3 / Opera Performance S2000 '04
4 / Mine's Lancer Evolution VI '00
5 / Spoon S2000 '00
6 / Mine's Lancere Evolution IV GSR '96

Mine's brought along their Evo VI, to see how it stacked against my IV. smile.gif

Race results

Apricot Hill Raceway Reverse
Position: 3rd
Points earned: +4
Current points: 4
Championship positon: 3rd

I was completely outgunned by the Porsche and the crazy S2000 by Opera. sad.gif

Fuji Speedway '90s
Position: 1st
Points earned: +10
Current points: 14
Championship positon: 2nd

DAMN. DAMN. DAMN. The engineers at Mitsubishi are getting a slap. Thanks to the stock gearbox, I was limited to 154mph! dry.gif Although thanks to some Clarkson-esque cheating, I still claimed 1st. tongue.gif

Tokyo R246
Position: 4th
Points earned: +3
Current points: 17
Championship positon: 2nd

Gearbox.

El Capitan Reverse
Position: DNF
Points earned: +0
Current points: 17
Championship positon: 2nd

Seems despite the 4WD, despite the tuning done by one of Japan's best tuners, I did it, I crashed the car. To the point where it is actually unable to complete the challenge. pinch2.gif But hey, at least I'm okay! biggrin.gif

Basically what happened is this. I overtook the Opera S2000 on the outside, hit a rough patch of road, and the back end comes swinging out.

user posted image

I immediately go to correct it, and as the Evo gripped, it swung right around, and I was again sideways, but no chance to correct.

user posted image

I was headed for one direction.

user posted image

The back end came back around, trying to do a 360, but the front of the EvoIV hit the wall, resulting in this.

user posted image

Yeah, you can see how much damage I caused. pinch2.gif My poor Lancer. sad.gif Luckily no one else got caught up in the crash.

*awaits ridicule from Clarkson and May* ermm2.gif

James May: rant.gif Sorry about the late arrival. I sort of... whistling.gif Ended up in South Korea for some reason when I set off earlier than you tonka toy donkeys.

blink.gif

Err... unsure.gif You crashed the Evo? smile2.gif Sure? You really *Sees wrecked Lancer* makefun.gif You crashed it! I knew something was going to happen if you think a touring car setting would be good for a WRC car. Now all you got is a pile of 1996 parts of Japanese wreckage waiting to be junked by the junkies of late British Leyland. And you know what I mean, eh? w00t2.gif Now let's see what Fat Man has to say laugh.gif

Looks like it's my turn in the R32 then. All right, here goes.

shifty2.gif

-------------------------

All right, here are my results...

Apricot Hill Raceway Reverse
Position: 2nd
Points earned: +6
Current points: 6
Championship positon: 2nd

I'm deeply riled that that stupid moded Volkwagen Beetle Evolution 23784932472947 kept rear ending me every single time I enter a corner. Thank God I managed to keep a straight face and gunned for second place. The D1GP RX-7 driven by Keiichi Tsuchiya simply left me behind...

Fuji Speedway '90s
Position: 1st
Points earned: +10
Current points: 16
Championship positon: 1st

I'm going to murder that stupid dumb Beetle again... Rear ending me again to the point I spun out off course. Lucky the car only suffered minor facial dents and bruises. I gunned towards the Beetle, and guess what? A Clarkson-esque move and bagged the win!

Tokyo R246
Position: 2nd
Points earned: +6
Current points: 22
Championship positon: 2nd

Dumb Beetle.

El Capitan Reverse
Position: 2nd
Points earned: +6
Current points: 28
Championship positon: 1st, Tied with D1GP RX-7

The Beetle managed to get a clean overtake, and kept it going... Damn and blast.

Tsukuba Circuit
Position: 1st
Points earned: +10
Current points: 38
Championship positon: 1st

The Beetle was too powerful for its own good in this circuit, serves it right. Keiichi and I were the one gunning for 1st, but I managed to keep him behind at every corner. He was impressed with my aggressive grip driving style for some reason, but needed to take note on one area. Braking Oh yes, he said that my braking was as random as seeing that Beetle behaving like an American muscle; Good at the straights, shit at cornering.

But whatever it is, I won the championship!

1st/38 points.

Actually I'm left with a pile of 1996 parts of Japanese wreckage that'll be given to Mine's and stripped. Another EvoIV out there will probably have the turbocharger from mine bolted into it someday. happy.gif

Although the suspension, brakes, wheel, tyre, everything from the front left corner of the car is as good as scrap, as is the bodyshell. sleep.gif

Where's The Stig and Fat Man anyway? Everyone seemed to be making a fuss over the last challenge like little... wombles. As Captain Slow, I'm seriously going to award those two the Golden Cock of the year for being a clot of this last challenge.

The Stig probably either got pulled over by the police again or he's sitting at the side of the road wondering why his RX-7 has no oil. tongue.gif

Fat Man? Who knows. Probably crashed his S15 down a dirt road after you made him think it was related to a rally car. rolleyes.gif

Damn, looks like my choice of car (and suspension settings tongue.gif ) ended my hopes of winning this one. At least we beat Fat Man. biggrin.gif
