I have decided to unearth https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37340. It was ripped away from the community years ago due to forum politics and a lot of fighting, but I'd like to see it revived now that the atmosphere is far less contentious.

This is random thoughts. You may post whatever comes to your mind, be it your thoughts on condensed farts, or deep philosophical wisdom regarding corn futures. We're all different, and thus we all think differently. The original thread had many moments of brilliance, and I loved watching members bounce off of each other.

So please, keep it real, and have an open mind.

---------------

Today I entertained the notion that it would be cool to be the night janitor at a high school. Then I started looking up job listings in the area I'll be moving to in a few months.

Ball's in your court, IDW.

And I was searching for that thread just earlier today! Aww, I wish I could remember what I wanted to post. Ahh oh well.

Corn futures look bleak my friend. sleep.gif

I loved that thread glad to know that it's back.

random thought of the moment.

1. I'm ready to fly out to New York, but why do I have to wake up at 2am god know's why.

2. Why do the next door neighbors own both a 3000gt and a Dodge Stealth?? Aren't they both the same or something?

3. What shall I do in New York City for a whole day on my own??

Posted by: Tessou Apr 3 2012, 11:45 AM
The difference between the 3000GT and the Stealth is that one's a piece of shit and the other is a bigger piece of shit.

The Stealth is the bigger pile, because it has the Dodge logo without the name Challenger next to it. The 3000GT at least has a good name behind it.

But the fun mystery is which is the bigger piece of shit?

What is the future of society if 10 year olds already have iPhones and boy/girlfriends?

Will the 'Ask _______ Anything' threads ever come back? I miss answering questions, and it seems like the only thread that is left alive is Perry's. And he takes forever to answer his questions.

Nobody is forcing you to be here and you are not an indentured servant. If I was truly a cruel admin, I'd be reading your PM records aloud to the rest of the class, and then publicly executing you for treason even though you didn't do anything.

Besides, "imperious" means that I've taken power without the justification to do so, which is entirely untrue. I purchased the site and it's sister sites last week, which means I have justification for my authority (read: I own it).

I love Mass Effect 3, but I hate the way the "emotional" dialog scenes work out. Why did I go through all the trouble of staying faithful to Liara throughout three games, only to get rewarded with a 2-second unemotional declaration of courtship?

Seriously. Read this next bit as deadpan as possible, and you'll still sound better than the actual scene.

Liara: I'd like things to stay this way, as good friends.
Shepard: I want to be more than friends, Liara.
Liara: Interesting, since I was thinking the same thing.
Shepard: I know. (embrace)

*END SCENE*

This is AFTER we had a much more interesting encounter in her office about an hour earlier. The payoff for avoiding the charms of Kelly, Miranda and Tali was absolutely nothing. Granted, there will probably be a sex scene before the final mission (par for the course in Mass Effect), but the confession scene was just awful.

A lot about Mass Effect 3 leaves me wondering what the hell Bioware was talking about when hyping the game.

The gameplay is fantastic to the point of almost being perfect. The story itself is great, despite the issues with the ending.

The problem comes with any scene designed to be emotional and personal to the player who has worked hard to get where he/she is. I'm at the point of just not responding to Miranda's calls about her sister, because they all end up the same way: Shepard wants to help, Miranda pushes Shepard away, call ends. A lot of the big moments the player has geared up for end up flaccid, without a decent payoff.

I mean, come on. Harbinger was touted to be the big evil bad guy at the end of Mass Effect 2, and he ends up showing himself in a very brief scene near the end of 3, without a single speaking line throughout the game. He had some really great, deep lines in 2. I mean, who can ever forget "Assuming Direct Control"?

----

Maybe it's just the caffeine talking. I'm double barrel shotgunning Mountain Dew Voltage and Code Red right now.

I must be the only Star Wars fan on the planet that took this joke well. Star Wars Kinect has apparently alienated a ton of Star Wars fans, saying that the franchise is dead, Lucas is a retard, the Empire won, etc. I think any example of Lucasfilm making fun of their own franchise is a good thing.

Yes, Kylie is before Honda's time, as well as Kiwi, Cecilia, Paula and one other member whose username I seem to have forgotten (forgive me!) but she was even before my time, so yeah, heh. As I recall, her signature featured an image of Vanilla Ice's face with the text "word to your mother" with it.

Spinnee is another prominent female on the forums right? I've seen her pop in a few months ago to post on Perry's AMA thread. But other than Kylie, Cecilia, kou, and I; where are all the girls on the forums? Did all you guys scare them away?

In terms of young members, I know we have a few people born in '93. I'm a '92 kid myself, but I'm sure that all you guys knew that already. Anyways, who is this "Lombo" person that you speak of? Does he post here often?

Ah yes, Spinnee was the unknown female member I was describing. Sorry for forgetting about you, Kou! You don't post as often as you used to, so I tend to remember you by your real name more often, now. Kylie's been off due to personal stuff, apparently, and Cecilia probably just hasn't got much to post about, but I can't speak for her. I'm certain no one scared her off, though, she's together with our Dear Leader, is she not? Doesn't that make her Queen Ruler Supreme of IDW?

The ups and downs of running IDW are incredibly close to what the President is going through. I both love and hate it to death.

Funny enough, I made note to the mod team a few days ago that "eventually, you guys will be called a tyrant, dictator or worse by a member offended by one of your choices." I'm used to that kind of treatment by now, but I'm wondering how the team is taking it. Being a public figure isn't at all what it's cracked up to be. No wonder Perry grew tired of it! laugh.gif

Sorry. I always say 'anyways' when I speak. It's become a really bad habit for me, almost like that time a few years ago when I used to say 'like' at the beginning of all my sentences. Those were dark times... Thanks for pointing that out kyon! I need to make an effort to speak better English, anyone who's talked with me over the phone or skype can agree with me there.

Moving on with this topic, who is this Kiwi person that you speak of? I think I may have seen her post once or twice, but she seems very enigmatic. How would IDW look if we had an even ratio of guys to girls?

I'll tell you what's not fun, that's watching "OGs" pretend they're better than "n00bs" in all those "old times" threads where the newbies are just trying to learn some more about this site's history...

I'm testing out various pens at the office. Pen geeks will understand this activity.

I recently bought a new Sharpie Liquid Pencil, which uses liquid graphite as if it was an pen (it dispenses much like a ballpoint pen), but can be erased within about 24 hours. It touts the permanence of a pen with the convenience of a pencil. I've only used it a few times so far, and it seems to live up to the hype, although the lines produced are a lot lighter that I expected.

I also have a traditional Uni-Ball Signo 207, which is a typical office gel pen. I like the smoothness, but hate the streaks that tend to appear in the lines. It always looks as if the pen is running out of ink when it isn't. The grip feels great, and the clicker isn't obnoxious, so I like it. I don't love it, though.

Next, I have the almighty pen that everybody swears by: the Pilot G-2 5mm (labeled as fine point on the label). I've admittedly been a huge fan of these things since they never seem to run out of ink, and that clicker is sooooo satisfying, but the tip has a tendency to break at the slightest touch, rendering the pen useless until a replacement ink stick is purchased. They're also easily the most stolen pens I've ever bought. I buy packs of four, affix them to the corresponding pen holders on my uniform, and within a few weeks they start disappearing. I've probably spent more on replacement G-2s than gasoline at this point.

Mini Cooper S R56

To be honest, I never really saw the Cooper or the S, particularly both generations (R53-56) to be capable of going against anything Japan has made for their hot hatchbacks, but wow, was the little bugger phenomenal.

Had a chance to test drive both the Hardtop and the Clubman (Both S, obviously), and even though they have a very-interesting price tag (The Hardtop S comes in at $22,000, while the Clubman S is $3,000 more), I don't think I have driven something that small yet so fun (apart from the Fiat 500, but even the 500 is too laid-back.)

My only 2 complaints would be the thing now hugging my right knee, however. Spirited driving with Sport Mode on changes absolutely everything from the engine to the transmission, making shifts a tad more proper. It's only when I have Sport mode off that it behaves like a very confused puppy. Went down SR99 doing 35 MPH, and the damn Austrian gearbox can't decide on which gear is appropriate. "Stop changing gears! DON'T DO THAT!"

Also, use better thermal shielding, that faux hood scoop looks like it's ready to melt!

What does the future hold in store for us when children these days can't respect others? I've seen it at work. Some of those kids have absolutely no respect. No respect for their elders. No respect for their friends. And surprisingly enough, no respect for themselves. What is the world coming to when the next generation is full of ignorant, rude people?

I'm just listening to Zelda: Twilight Princess songs.

To be more preciser: the current track is the theme of the Chamber of Stone. It remembers me of my childhood in the year 2004, where I played Zelda: The Wind Waker. I got the game at my birthday. It was the most wanted gift I wished for this birthday. I started playing it immediately the whole morning after I unpacked it. It was a cloudy day back then.

On a sunny day in august 2004 I was at the forbidden grove. It took five or six hours until I finished this level. I was so focused on the game that I forgot my pizza in the stove. Fortunately, the pizza wasn't charred.

I'm missing the old times...

The Temple of Time in Twilight Princess is my favorite temple. I like games where you can travel to the past.

Darkman II is more entertaining than Darkman.

Arnold Vosloo (who does not attempt to hide his accent) replaces Liam Neeson (who was trying to hide his accent), and they retcon his being part of the series by reshooting key scenes from the first film to make it look like Arnold was Darkman the whole time. The second film is also rated R for the very rare descriptor "Brutal Violence" (the golf scene is pretty much the reason for this). Also, Durant finally swears, and it's hilarious.

For those that don't remember, Arnold Vosloo is the guy that plays Imhotep in the Mummy films.

Vacation pending for all of next week, to mark one month from my departure from the enlisted force. I'm planning on taking a scenic trip to absolutely nowhere.

By then, IDW will know.

----------

Allow me to match a few things...

Kenshin Himura = Takumi Fujiwara
Sanosuke Sagara = Keisuke Takahashi
Hajime Saito = Ryosuke Takahashi
Makimachi Misao = Natsuki Mogi
Kamiya Kaoru = Mika Uehara
Hiko Seijuro = Bunta Fujiwara

Just think about it. Notice the incredible similarities.

I just blew your minds.

I'm NEVER processing photos on my laptop again. Screen is far too bright, everything from last night came out at least a stop underexposed, so I had to do it all over. I tried tuning the screen this morning with no real luck, without manual brightness control, gamma correction only does so much.

In the process, I lost around 20 extra tags for people I didn't know on Facebook, over 30 comments, and at least 50 likes. The latter doesn't bother me, but everything else severely undercuts my ability to get my photos out there. Had to purge the new shots from my Flickr as well, so of course I have to repost everything on all the boards I posted them on.

Posted by: Wanderer Apr 12 2012, 07:57 PM
Lol well a friend introduced me to WME, then got introduced to IDW through Perry's sig. Got bored of WMMT because lots of people stopped playing, so retired and am focusing on getting better at IDAS6AA so I came here. The possibility of my arcade getting MT4 is slim to none so I'm staying here! biggrin.gif

LOL, it's good that you're staying here then. We need more people like you. smile.gif

Aw man, speaking of which. I totally forgot to go to the arcade over spring break! D'oh! There's an arcade by my house called Round 1 and they're supposed to have amazingly nice IDAS6AA machines! I wanted to go when I was home to confirm but I totally didn't. Maybe when I go home again in a few weeks. Does anyone else recognize the name Round 1? I'm sure there are a few people from my area. shifty2.gif

I know of Round 1, Arcade Infinity, Japan Arcade, Family Arcade, and Super Arcade in LA thanks to the So Cal thread on WME, but don't know how the machines are.

Posted by: Tessou Apr 13 2012, 08:08 AM
Being an NCO sucks. The rewards are minimal compared to the shit ton of work being done.

In the past two days alone, I've had maybe an hour of solid "I can actually sit at my desk" time. Everything seemed to explode at the same time when my assistant took leave this week. Government vehicles go missing and/or suffer catastrophic failures, a group of dormitory keys are missing for no reason, and my assistant decided it was in his best judgment to take the equipment shed and equipment fuel locker keys with him before taking a vacation 200 miles away.

I've fielded at least twenty calls alone from my direct superior, and suffered more than a few visits from howling, purple-faced Group First Sergeants wondering just why I have a complete idiot working with me (he was appointed by the squadron, not me!). I have a feeling he's going to get shitcanned. Hard.

Posted by: Wanderer Apr 13 2012, 08:13 AM
If you don't mind my asking, what do you work in?

Posted by: Tessou Apr 13 2012, 08:27 AM
USAF. I'm currently the dorm manager for the entire group here at Fort Gordon. That means that I am the new Airmen's first supervisor for a few weeks (or more, for troublemakers) as they get their paperwork transferred from their previous base, get acclimated to the area, and begin their careers as intelligence operators.

For those few weeks before they go do their actual job, I have them working basic, menial jobs like mowing lawns, escorting VIPs, and maintaining the government vehicles. They do the jobs that nobody else wants to do.

As special requests for extra duties come in from up top just about every day, I have to keep them in line and accountable for their locations and actions. This involves a lot of running around base making sure my "minions" are doing what they're supposed to be doing. I catch them slacking off and staring at their phones a lot, and they end up having a bad day once I confront them about it.

As a front line supervisor for what we call "scut details" (menial labor), my job involves a lot of yelling and constant hand-holding since these newbies cannot make their own decisions. You'd be surprised at how many ways a lazy Airman can attempt to convince me that he doesn't know what I mean when I tell him/her to pull weeds.

What do you mean there's an app for that MMMMMAGGOT!? Was the first thing that came to mind. laugh.gif

It rained after I got out of class and I have to trek back to my room without any sort of cover. I know for a fact that walking in the rain without an umbrella is fun for the first two minutes. Please, I was soaked all the way through my shirt. I can assure you that I did not look pretty by the end of my 15 minute walk. I took special care to make sure that I wasn't soaked all the way through my jeans though. I hate walking with wet pants. But I guess this rain was only a drizzle compared to what other people may go through. Living in California, we always seem to freak out at the smallest amount of water falling through the sky.

What are you trying to imply sir? I'm just saying that I absolutely hate walking around with wet jeans because they get heavy and disgusting, so I take extra care to make sure that they don't get wet. But today, it was raining a little harder than usual.

Anyway, since we are on the topic of rain and such. I thought about one of my all time favorite movies. Forrest Gump. And then I thought of this clip. If I had to say anything, today's rain seemed to be flying in sideways. Yes, it was that windy today. laugh2.gif

If you're thinking of selling it, give me some details and price. I have a potential buyer.

Details are in my thread here or on MR2.com if preferred. Nothing has changed since then, except I have more updated pictures on IDW. My asking price is $1600 for current MR2 owners, $1800 for car forum enthusiasts, and $2000 for everyone else.

Probably not what you're looking for since the body isn't as clean as most would prefer. Nevertheless, for automotive sports where cosmetics aren't as much of a concern, it's not a bad base. It's a California stripper model so, except for the sunroof and A/C (that doesn't work atm), it's light compared to other MR2's of the same year. Has some rust but nothing major.

Only reasons I'm considering selling at this moment are:
1) I haven't driven it in a year other than on my driveway.
2) I really want a T-top model with all power accessories.
3) I want to travel and explore the world.

Drifter gets first dibs if he puts together enough money. I'm not comfortable with doing a payment plan.

Baldwin Park is near West Convina, center of the San Gabriel Valley. Basically Southern California. You are not a real In N Out fan unless you know the history of the company sir.

Oh kyon, you only have Five Guys in Florida? I've tried both In N Out and Five Guys and I have to say, Five Guys is a nice change from the set burger joints that we have around here. The fact that you can customize what you want on your burger is really nice. But you just can't beat the originality of In N Out. If given the choice, In N Out all day everyday. smile.gif

Knowing the secret menu is not enough! You need to have an In N Out shirt, and a bumper sticker for your car! That's it, next time I'm at In N Out University, I will get a stack of bumper stickers to mail out to people! biggrin.gif

Sweet! I could totally send you a drawing of an FC if you really want it now! All I need is your address and we are set to go! On the topic of cars, I just saw a new 2012 Miata in a parking lot, and the new Honda CR-Z. Both of which are terribly small cars. I swear, you can fit two of them in a normal parking spot. Also, It's kinda strange seeing super new cars here around college. I wonder who they belong to... laugh.gif

Today my dad just pulled off a Bunta Fujiwara in the car... He was driving on freeway when he decided it was time for a smote so, he took his hands off of the steering wheel and rummaged around in his pockets for a cig and a lighter. All while going about 80mph on the freeway. He proceeded to light it and take one freakishly long drag before returning his hands on the wheel, after a good two minutes of letting the car go where ever it wanted. I had the suspicion he was steering with his knees and the car was on cruise control. Either way it freaked me out, whenever I get in the car it would always have the faint smell of a cigarette so I guessed that my dad would smoke before getting in the car. But I never imagined that he would do it IN the car. Now I know how Yuichi feels when he's in the car with Bunta... blink.gif

Only 29 days left before I'm a regular civilian again. I want it to happen, and I don't want it to happen.

The Air Force has been good to me these past six years, and I enjoy the steady paycheck and responsibilities. I don't want to give those up, but at the same time I really don't like my potential future here. My career field can only be stationed at one of two places stateside because of our top secret clearance. Moving up in this field is basically impossible.

I applied to cross-train into another field, but got rejected since, and I'm quoting from my top sergeant here, "we're downsizing the USAF and all the job training slots are being reserved for kids coming out of Basic". So essentially I couldn't avoid my walking papers. sad.gif

Oh well. I'm always looking forward to new possibilities. Not having the restrictions of being a federal employee will be super nice.

You know what, it really bugs me when people mention me having money or "winning" the lottery. Fact of the matter is, I didn't win it at all. I hit a few numbers, got a little bit of cash. Had I "won" the lottery, I would've had a nice solid 80mil. After all was said and done, I walked away with about 200k. That paid for my house, which is nothing fancy by any means, just a decent piece of land and a nice comfy home.

For whatever reason, everyone on here seems to think I've won millions of dollars and I shit in bowls made of 100 dollar bills. I cannot grasp why that is. The lottery didn't really do anything for me, it helped me out a bit, but, my business is what funds all of my car related things. I'm still a very wary person when it comes to spending cash, considering I grew up poor, in a trailer park, in Florida. As an adult, I'd like to think I'm pretty smart with my money, not to the point of never spending it, but I don't just throw it away, like most folks on here seem to think. Then, I just want to force people to live my life for a week, make the financial decisions I have to make on a daily basis and just understand what goes into running a business and working a race program like I do. It's like 24/7 dedication. Most people just can't handle it.

I don't really care about what a bunch of folks I'll likely never meet think of me in the end I guess, but bringing up money is just something that always pisses me off.

No, I not mad. Just a little frustrated. sad.gif

I've been careful to only get teas that have no caffeine in them (a surprising amount of them have tons of it). So far, so good. I only had the headache and that was it. This is surprising considering the absurd amounts of the stuff I drank every day. 4-6 cans of Mountain Dew per day was the average. My tolerance was to the point that it didn't keep me awake or more alert at all, which wasn't problematic because I've never had problems staying awake. I only kept drinking it to stave off the inevitable headache. laugh.gif

Coffee is definitely nicer on your body, I just default to energy drinks when I haven't had a bunch of sleep because it's quicker to grab and go than to fill up a cup. Coffee's great though because it guarantees the work day poop, and who doesn't love getting paid to do that!

Being the youngest in the family must be nice. As the oldest daughter and child in my family I've always had the responsibility of taking care of my sisters and my cousins. Usually, my grades are good enough that I'm only depending on the final exam grades. This is the first semester that I'm depending on a significant curve just to pass not just one class, but two or three of the five classes I'm taking at the moment.

Today was my last day of classes, so only the final exams are left. I need to ace them for even a chance of getting a 'C' or 'D', so I'll mostly be afk for the next week and-a-half, only checking my emails, so that I can concentrate on studying.

In other news, someone is interested in buying my MR2. If it sells, I'll be able to reach my goal of paying off my last year of college.

Thanks. I'll know on Monday whether or not I made the cut for the second interview.

First interview was on the phone. Typical screening questions. I stammered a lot and admitted to not knowing their company very well. It's a large company, so it's likely a few of us use their products, particularly if you use cosmetic products.

Second interview would be in person. I'm slightly better at in-person interviews than remote interviews, though I still tend to blank out. Definitely need more practice with the interview process.

Edit:

Glass lens fell out. Fortunately, it was only the screw that came loose, and it happened significantly before the final exam.

I smell vomit in my nose. I wonder what the most effective way to clean vomit out of boogers is. blink.gif

Posted by: Meteor May 5 2012, 12:01 PM
Do you remember puking out your nose or something? blink.gif

Seriously, how'd you get puke in your upper airway? Wouldn't that be super difficult (since puke getting there pretty much never happens despite there being nothing in place to keep vomit from going up to the nose)?

Does it burn? I hope it doesn't. Are you sure you're smelling it in your nose?

Posted by: Rudy May 5 2012, 12:05 PM
It burns a little, yeah some of the vomit went out my nose. It sucks. pinch2.gif

Using the shower head set to 'masturbate' mode and forcing water through my nostrils (and whatever's behind them) worked better than I expected.

My world no longer smells like puke. w00t2.gif

The new WRX seems like a good balance of performance, sportiness, and practicality for the sub-$30k range. Contrary to popular opinion, I like the way it looks. Read that it feels like a boat to drive though.

I think the SC MR2 is the only car for me. Fun to drive, T-tops, low upfront costs, great community. Not a very practical car, but practicality isn't much of a concern for me atm.

But there was one thing I noticed while watching the movie... I think Hawkeye looks a little like one of our members here. I guess you can be the judge of that though. shifty2.gif

Discussing with a few other members I guess I might be going crazy. But while I was watching the Avengers I couldn't help but think of am3pkcet. I thought he bore a slight resemblance with Jeremy Renner. Some agree, others do not. Their face shape is definitely different, but both are amazing marksmen and just simply bad ass. laugh2.gif

If it's obviously not on-topic, what's the problem? And if you think we have little foot traffic, I'm sure you could find other forums with comparable traffic that have stricter rules.

And for what it's worth, we have evidence the traffic here is increasing. awesome.gif

That exam last night... was painful. Couldn't answer a single question.

First part of the first question:

You have a turboprop engine with an afterburner. The ambient temperature and pressure are 300*K and 1 atm, the temperature at the turbine inlet is 1900*K, and the pressure at the afterburner inlet and exit are 0.97 atm. The pressure increase at the diffusor accounts for 20% of the pressure increase over the compressor. 30% of the power generated by the turbine powers the compressor. Air flows through the engine at 50 kg/s. Find the pressure and temperatures at the compressor inlet, combustor inlet, main engine outlet, afterburner inlet, and nozzle. Use cp = 1.005 kj/kg*K and cp/cv = 1.2.

Given enough time, I could have probably figured out the last three questions (four questions total). Still, regardless of how much I studied, I don't think I would have ever been prepared for this exam. Just hope the curve is large enough so that I pass the class. Been doing below average all semester. dry.gif

Came in to the base clinic for my annual blood tests, specifically an HIV test they forgot to update during my last physical assessment. They targeted me with a TDAP shot (10-year Tetanus booster) out of the blue. Shit sucks. It's a big punch in the arm, followed by this feeling of itching under your skin.

At least the HIV test was quick. tongue.gif

I hate non-stop mixes. I hate it! I pay for cds with sample songs. This is so annoying...
Do all the DJs think they make the customers happy because there are no pauses between the tracks? They treat good Trance music like the most precious treasure on earth. Only mainstream trance songs are available as extended versions on cds. They do this on purpose! It is just another kind of copyright.
Many songs are available on vinyls but the super best songs not. Even if they are on iTunes Japan I cannot buy them because I do not live in Japan. This is also another kind of copyright. I am sick of this.
Ah yes, 128 kbps AAC is not nice but better than nothing. However, they could provide 256 kbps or even WAV for download. Many sites provide up to 320 kbps MP3 and WAV. This is a perfect deal. 128 kbps AAC might have a quality of 160 kbps MP3 (or even slightly better) but the low bitrate is again just another kind of copyright. They do not grant you the superior enjoyment of music.

So, damn you Avex and all the other companies who are selling cds with sample songs and low quality songs on iTunes and other online stores which are additionally only available in Japan.

At least iTunes sell AAC and not protected ATRAC or DRM protected WMA files.

Posted by: Tessou May 8 2012, 11:20 AM
A lot of them are released in what would be considered "normal" versions and extended versions, just not in widely published releases.

Norm Schiavone's R20WORKS extended version was a real bastard to find before discogs made everything easy.

Also, interview right after my last final tomorrow. New places, new people, new job. Nervous as heck, but my second hardest final comes first.

Why is the final hard? Because the content is broad, the professor likes to supplement with his own material, and there's no partial credit.

It's a 400-level class, Aerospace Propulsion. It's the only class I've ever taken that made me feel stupid. I'm honestly glad it did, because I was getting bored with easy classes.

Yeah, you're probably right: it was most likely a turbojet with an afterburner.

Edit:

In case anyone is curious:

First part of the second question: x lbs/s of liquid Oxygen at 124*K burns with y lbs/s liquid Hydrogen at 164*k. What is the temperature of the resulting hydrogen/steam mixture? x and y were given, but I don't remember the numbers.

First part of the third question: A rocket of 11360000 lbf has three engines in its boost stage, each consuming 1000 lbs of fuel per second and provides z lbf of thrust (z was given, don't remember the number). Given that the total burn time is about six minutes, what is the maximum altitude that the rocket reaches?

First part of the fourth question: A jet passes you overhead at 250 m/s. The nozzle velocity appears to be 500 m/s. What is the thrust of the rocket?

Each question had around four parts to them.

I'd like to take advantage of Microsoft's willingness to allow people to develop programs that utilize the capabilities of the Kinect. It's surprisingly powerful technology.

Posted by: Tessou May 11 2012, 07:14 AM
Apply to work for Microsoft, specifically the "Kinect Fun Labs" project. Those programs allow experimentation of the device's abilities, many of which are not (yet) present in the current game library.

Posted by: Kiroshino May 11 2012, 08:13 AM
Having access to that library will make things easier, but probably not critical if I can come to an understanding of how the Kinect sensor works and how I can use the data it records for whatever I have in mind.
